Most Outrageous Complaint Overheard

it would have been nice if the CM would have replaced DS's dole whip when she clearly saw what happened. There would have been no scamming involved.

I'm not trying to be rude here but why would that be Disney Worlds fault? I don't understand why they should replace something that was beyond their control.

Like I said in my post I NEVER complained or asked for anything. We made due with what we had and went and purchased a new shirt. I never asked for anything. My comment was simply saying the CM stood there and saw the whole thing. The cold plastic cup was slippery from the heat. It was brand new, not one bite eaten. Had just been given to my DS. I guess it would have been nice if they had wrapped a napkin around it or something. As an adult I know enough to watch for those things, a 10 year old doesn't know to watch for that.

I was never implying I expected something. If I had expected something I would have complained. What I said is it would have been nice if the CM who witnessed the whole thing had gone a little out of her way to make a crying 10 year old's day brighter.

It didn't ruin our trip by any means and the only reason I thought of it was because the PP said WDW gives free stuff for all those complaints. I was simply pointing out my situation was worse than any of those and no CM made any attempt to give anything free, nor did I ask for it!

Last week we stayed the last two nights of our trip at the Polynesian and were magically upgraded to concierge /club level. On our last night there, we went to the concierge lounge to watch Wishes. We got there about 30 minutes beforehand so that we would have a good seat. While we waited, we overheard the family next to us talking about their arrival. Apparently they had requested connecting rooms, but there weren't any available when they checked in. The man telling the story relayed how he kept asking and fussing about it, but "there weren't any available, but suddenly when the manager came over they magically appeared! And look at where they are!"

This family was obviously a large party with many adults. If I had to guess, it was probably adult siblings that brought their spouses and children with them. This wasn't a situation where minors would have had to stay in a room alone without connecting rooms - they obviously had enough adults to be fine in not connecting rooms.

What made it even worse was they proceeded to let other people that were traveling with them but that weren't staying at the Polynesian with them into the lounge for the fireworks and dessert, once again showing off what they "got" for Disney not having connecting rooms for them. Then they proceeded to talk loudly to each other and on cell phones throughout the whole Wishes show and ruin it for everyone in the lounge that night. It made me sick that these people got upgraded for being rude and took away a magical upgrade from families that would have been grateful.

One of the compaints we hear is about package pick-up.Example ..It's 3:00pm. Guest comes over for package. ."I picking up my package" I reply"do your green slip they gave you in the park please?" Guest hands over slip It's dated the SAME day at 12:00.I say I"m sorry Sir/Ma'am but this is from today and your package won't be here until tomorrow after 1:00." Guest gets angry"but they said it would be here after 3 hours!!" We then have to explain that means 3 hours to get to package pick-up at the front of the park NOT resort delivery. This happens all the time because either the CM doesn't tell them. the guest missunderstands, or the simply doesn't read the slip. This is ALL the time. We get yelled at for this constantly. The other thing we hear about is the dining plan at what's a snack and what isn't.A lady told me she didn't like my "tone" when I politely explained why her large bags of Mickey chocolates were not on the snack plan.oh well..Have a magical day!!!!:hippie:

Not sure if this one was a result of vacation fatigue or complete stupidity, but I have overheard fellow guests on multiple occasions refer to HS as Universal. The worst was a husband standing in front of the hat in HS arguing with his wife, trying to convince her it was Universal. :lmao:

One time at AK I asked for a salted pertzel. The CM laid an unsalted one in front of me. (YuckY!) I told her I asked for a salted one so she looked annoyed and threw the first one away. Thought that was weird. the guy behind me commented that he would have taken it!

Back on topic...when riding the monorail, there was a family in the car with us. We came to one of the stops and the mother jumps out dragging her kids with her and tries to get in the front of the monorail with the driver. I'm guessing there was someone in the front and they got out at that stop. The CM attendant tells her she cannot do that. She gets back in the car where we were, fussing and fuming about VIP's and how if you're a VIP you get everything. One of her kids asks, "Mommy, what's a VIP?" She says it is someone who has a lot of money and gets everything they want. A moment later the CM comes in and tells her they can ride in the front. So she got her way anyway. I think all he was telling her originally was that she had to request to ride in the front and wait for permission.

Try getting a guest who refuses to listen when you tell them we don't have a Spiderman attraction. Then screams he wants his money back because we didn't tell him that this wasn't universal. I could think of a few things that gave the idea that this was HS like the big fat sign when he came in but heck what do I know I just work here, right? :headache:

That is crazy! I'm sure there are people that know that and take advantage of it. I'll continue to pay for everything and sleep well at night.

They DID give me a new shirt because it got splashed in the bathroom BUT it was a CM who did not see me and splashed dirty mop water (brown) all over my new mickey polo shirt. I was not angry at all, she sent me up to GS and they gave me a voucher for a new polo. They even told me to keep the dirty one in case the spots came out! The spots (all but one small one) did come out with some color safe bleach so I hace 2 mickey polos! I think they have GREAT CS but i think people take that for granted.

We took our RV to FW a couple of years ago, there was a family camping in a tent beside us. That night it sounded as if the sky was falling from all the rain, well when we woke up the next morning we went outside to find the family in the tent demanding to a CM that Disney give them a hotel room for the rest of their stay, pay to dry clean their clothes and other items, oh and buy them an outfit to wear that day since their clothes were wet. Their reasoning (and yes this came from their mouth) is that DISNEY LET it rain on their vacation, therefore ruining their plans.

I don't care who you are.... that was funny! :upsidedow

That's funny -- I bet she got it mixed up with Mission Space.

This one is second/third/400th hand from a similar thread on the Dis Boards, but I think it is so funny: A guest at Beach Club was tearing into the front desk staff because they were not actually on the beach....of the Atlantic Ocean!!!!!

If I were that CM I would have offered to switch them to Vero...and remind them that there was no shuttle from there to the parks....

Last Sept I overheard a man getting nasty with a Cm at the BC frontdesk because he wanted a REFUND OF HIS FREE DINING credits because he didn't get to eat at several of his choices because he didn't make ressies. The Cm kept offering to find some ressies for him, but he kept getting louder and louder screaming about a refund of his unused free credits.

At AKL club level the man on the desk offered our son a choice of finger puppets, he took one and gave the rest back. The man was so impressed he gave him a hand full and a small ball to play with. So it is not just those who complain who get magical moments.

And you get the chace to pay a little more dearly because of those people also. "Those People" that are getting one over on WDW cause prices to go up for everyone.

I don't know if this is a complaint but there was a woman who refused to ride Spaceship Earth with her child because there was no seatbelts.

It was so odd. Does any other parent regard Spaceship Earth as dangerous?

Does she want seatbelts on all rides of just SSE?:confused3

While working at wdw I heard it all, but my favorite were guests who you knew were full of it in order to get free stuff.

Examples: (some mine some other CMs)

Columbia Harbor House....
Man... "someone threw away our food"
CM.... "okay sir, what happend"
Man... "well we got our food, we sat down, then my kids wanted to ride HM, so we went to ride it, and when we came back, our food was gone"

CM went to get a manager, manager replaced 50 dollars worth of food.

Launching Pad
Me(cm)-"Hello, what can I get for you?"
woman-"Well we bought 3 turkey legs, and a large coke and they were cold."
Me... "I do appologise, did you just buy them""
woman..."no, I bought them on the other side of the park hours ago, and they were cold, so we threw them away, you need to give me 3 free turkey legs, and a free coke"
Me.."I am sorry, I cannot give you anything for free, but I would be more than happy to call my manager, and I am sure she will resolve your issue"
Her..."No, I will just pay for them"
Me.. "that will be 17.50"
Her.. "you could have just given them to me"
Me.. "like I said ma'am, I would be more than happy to call my manager, or you can go to guest relations"
Her..."screw you, here is your 17 bucks"

If someone splashes water on themselves in the bathroom, disney will give them a new shirt.

If I told Guest Relations that someone stole my bag full of souvies, and I lost my receipt, they will replace everything in the bag.

If I walk up to any food stand, and say "I dropped my coke" I will get a free coke.

If I walk up to any food stand, and say, "I dropped my pretzle, I will get a free one" (anything more than 5 bucks is when a manager is called)

My point..... no matter how stupid the complaint may be, Disney will try to resolve it. And yes, I have heard of them giving someone a free sweatshirt because it is cold in florida.

Now I feel bad because I did drop my soda once...when I went up to replace it, they just gave me a new one....crud.....they must have thought I was trying to get over on them....

And now that I'm thinking about it...I spilled it all over my DH's pants...I guess I should have asked them to replace his pants!!!

Years ago I was in line for Splash Mountain and two women behind me were complaining about how it rained the other day and they should have gotten their money back. They had apparently went to a CM or GS and requested a refund for their ticket and the CM explained to them what rides WERE open when it rained/thunderstormed. But they were SO mad because Splash was down and I think some of the kids rides (Dumbo and such).

The part that I really didn't understand is that they were back again! They were there for another day in MK!! Its not like it was their one and only day in MK that was ruined! :confused3

May I add to the freebie shirt discussion?

While I was not at WDW at the time I still feel it is relevent to show that some of us do not throw a tantrum when things happen that are not our fault.

I was at Daytona Speedway and we where doing the tour, as the tour bus\cart pulled up to empty us out we experienced a typical afternoon deluge. What the hey, I'm Scottish and well used to downpours although ours will last all day, every day, every summer. ;) I walked at normal pace towards the cover of the shop and as I stepped onto the unsigned, freshly mopped, soapy and slippery walkway, I was barged from behind by the bus driver who was obviously in some haste to get out of the rain. Due to this thump in the back, I began to slip forward but in my attempt to right myself I over-corrected and fell back, thumping my head on the tiles.

Can you say concussion? To say I've experienced concussion before is an understatement and I knew it wasn't too bad, sore and extremely uncomfortable but not too bad. Almost as soon as I'd stood myself back up I was whisked into the gift shop by the manager and told to pick anything I wanted. All I said to him was 'don't worry, accidents happen'. I settled on a t-shirt and the look of relief on his face was palpable as I'm sure he was worried that I would sue. The driver was rather clumsy but I doubt very much that he intended to push me over. Sore head for a day but no real harm done.
