Most Outrageous Complaint Overheard

The last time we were at WDW, we were at the Caribbean Beach concierge trying to get some dining credit issue figured out when a guy comes huffing and puffing in and demands some kind of compensation because they were not told there were so many birds on the property and it has ruined their vacation. That their son had been attacked and he was now traumatized. It was probably one of the most ridiculous things I have ever heard. We left a few minutes later and he was still complaining. Ridiculous.

You're right about his wanting compensation being ridiculous. I would like to add that some of the birds at WDW are scary. There are some tall, aggressive birds that like to hang out at Flame Tree BBQ. We were eating there and were chased away by these birds. I can totally understand that a child could be traumatized by one of these birds.

Let me just say, those birds at CBR are smart, devious, and scary. We had some of the big ones (as tall as my 4.5 foot kids) stalking us because we were walking near them with bagels. The 4 of them actually turned around and came after us! We finally got away when I looked at DH and told him to throw a piece of the bagel over the birds heads the other direction.

As for complaints, we were at the Dole whip stand behind a guy who let his dole whip sit on the counter in the freaking 95 degree August heat while the rest of his order was made. He then complained to high heaven about his dole whip melting! Um hello you let it sit in on the counter for over 7 minutes what did you suspect?!?! of course the CM offered to make him a new one, but then politely told the guy that he may want to start in on the other dole whip in his order so it didn't melt as well. (as the guy was again going to leave it on the counter to melt).
I am so sorry but the bird thing has me laughing so hard...and I don't doubt that it's true! Just the vision of you being stalked by birds trying to get your bagels and you having to throw a bagel piece in your opposite direction to get them to stop stalking you is funny to me for some reason:rotfl: I needed a good laugh today..thank you :cutie:

Oh, I absolutely agree. Birds scare the *bleep* out of me so I am right there with you. I get anxious around seagulls in the supermarket parking lot much less a bird almost as tall as me wanting my food.

I just felt bad for the poor CM, not to mention like you said wanting to be compensated is just a little much.

A couple years ago we were in line for Boma, and there was an older, well-dressed lady pushing her way through the line. Being that I had already checked in, I could sit by and watch this all unfold.

After literally pushing people out of her way, she proceeded to yell at the CM at the counter with such barbs as: "I'm staying at this hotel, and shouldn't have to wait', and "I bet these people can't even afford to eat here", and "these people aren't even dressed for this place', and finally "I'm tired of seeing all these d#mn kids around this resort--I want to see animals, NOT kids". Yep, this old bag was tired of seeing kids---at Disney World.

Well it just so happened that my little beeper thing went off while she was still at the counter......so when I went to the counter to get seated, I couldn't pass up the chance to ask the CM 'you DO take food stamps, right?'. The CM and everyone in line started laughing, and the lady stormed off saying 'see I told you'........

I never cease to be amazed at the people who don't know they need to make dining reservations (ADR). I mean, everytime I have called Disney regarding my trip the CM always asks, "do you need to make dining reservations?". This isn't just something we know from these boards!

If you look at the Where To Eat tab on the Disney website, the first thing under that tab is "Make Dining Reservations".

You are visiting during summer (or any other busy time), you see suggestions to make dining reservations on-line and the CM when you make your trip reservations ask if you help making dining reservations = make those reservations if you want to eat!

One of my co-workers came home from WDW and was complaining that his family couldnt get in Le Cellier. I said and you had a reservation??? he said no; but that shouldnt matter. So he said he pulled out his wallet to compensate the hostess and she said, sorry, but we are fully booked. He asked when the next opening was she said about 30 days. He was still shocked they wouldnt seat "his" family.

Hey! I think I figured out the Free Dining Guy! When he found out that they got Free Dining, that meant that he could eat free whenever, and wherever they wanted no questions asked!:rotfl:

Oh, I love your food stamp comment! :rotfl2:

Rubbing alcohol takes out permanent marker.

Generally speaking, permanent markers are better for that kind of craft than washable markers, because washable markers will run if they get wet. They do, however, require supervision with younger children.

Yes but, who is going to supervise my children. I can't be expected to do it. I'm on vacation. Isn't that what that person sitting there handing out the stuff is for? BTW, I payed a lot for this vacation.

I did the international college programme a few years back and got a few good ones. My favourite was "why are you letting it rain? Get Disney to turn off the rain" and another person saying that Disney were only making it rain so the guests would go and spend in the gift shops.

I also had a guest come up to me at Splash and complain that he never saw Tinkerbell during Wishes. Oh and the "I've been here for seven hours and not done a single ride!" when they spotted the line for Splash was an hour long and there were no fastpasses. A complaint about wanting to speak to an American and not a foreigner when I wouldn't let them cut in the line.

And how can I forget the woman screaming at me that Disney locked her daughter in the mountain after we closed the line temporarily when it broke down (daughter was in the standby line but didn't want to leave), then shouting and saying she'd have my job for letting her daughter ride in an unsafe ride when it started up again...

Longer than I thought but last one :P The ride stopped working and this guy was sat waiting for the log he was in to pull into station, you know just after the scene with brer rabbit sat outside his house? When he was told he'd have to get out of the log and follow us he started shouting 'No I want to finish the ride! Why should I get out and walk?' even though he could see where he'd be getting off and was going to be given an attraction re-entry pass :confused3

I didn't witness this first hand, but I read about it in one of the WDW guidebooks at Barnes & Noble.

A guy complained that his WDW vacation was ruined because, hand to God, the lettuce in his Cobb salad was shredded too finely. :rotfl2:

A bad cobb salad can ruin anything.

Hmmmm wonder what this could have netted me free?

I mean it did take me like a week to get that off her!

I think her hubby was at Chef Mickey's the same night we were! He was screaming the same sort of abuse at the poor CM there and actually making fun of and making rude comments about the people they were letting in. He was a real piece of work! He kept yelling at the people who were getting seated about how they were probably staying at the All Stars and couldn't even afford to spend the money he had to stay at the CR!!:sad2:

Security did come speak to him about the time we were being seated and we never saw him after that, so maybe he was asked to leave.

I could be wrong but ~ in my experience ~ people who DO have money (like a lot of money) don't usually run around screaming about it.

Will try that at Cape May while we are at the Beach Club in May.

Wonder if this was the same man who pushed my 2.5 year old down the three steps so he could get in front of her at the buffet at CM.

I kept thinking.... "Does he know she isn't eating off the same buffet as him?"

Man! I probably should have complained about that too! I mean totally not Disney's fault... but that doesn't seem to matter much.

I DID however complain to GS (when I got home ~ didn't let it ruin my trip) that they charged me for my 2.5 year old at several buffets. I was told by GS that children under 3 do NOT eat for free if they use a plate. They would need to sit on your lap and eat directly from your plate OR you are welcome to take food off your plate and set in on the table in front of her.
:confused3 Next time we went I said she was 3 and bought the dining plan for her b/c I just could feed my child off a table where 100's or other people had sat that day.

My guess is the birds are aggressive because of people feeding them.

Brilliant. Well played! Wish I could have seen that!!
