We are planning a trip to WDW this summer, and quickly need to find the perfect resort. I would appreciate some suggestions. THe only deluxe we have ever stayed at is the Poly. Excited to hear suggestions. Thanks!!!

I have not been a guest at all the deluxe resorts but I think the Animal Kingdom Lodge ranks VERY high on the magic scale. You could never duplicate the atmosphere, service and one of a kind wonder that you experience at that resort. It is removed from the action but it is spectacular!

You are going to get answers all over the place on this one! For pure Disney magic, all of the resorts on the monorial are the best to me. They are the farthest away from real civilization, but right in the heart of the action. All three have great pools and marinas with a large boating playground, all three feature some of the best restaurants at Disney, all three are very convenient to MK and Epcot, all three feature rooms larger than the standad deluxe room, all three have exceptional concierge lounges (if that interests you), all three allow for excellent views of FIS fireworks, maybe even from your room, all three have nightly presentations of the EWP, all three have easy access to Fort Wilderness and the activities there (including the Hoop-dee-doo Revue), also in addition to the monorial all three feature boat and bus transportation. They, of course have some drawbacks (it's difficult to get to the boardwalk at night, MGM and AK share a lot of stops and make the bus trip pretty long), but for pure Disney magic, these three are the best the Mouse has to offer, IMHO.

All of that being said, perhaps the best themed resort anywhere is the Animal Kingdom Lodge (with Wilderness Lodge right on its coat tails). It really transports you. It is like a vacation within a vacation to stay there.

wilderness lodge. you feel as if you are not even IN a theme parkk resort. fabulous!!:p

I would vote for WL followed by AKL - a little out of the way but amazing themes and feel removed from the parks but not too far ;)

Of course a Lagoon View at GF or Poly or Tower MK Side at CR is very magical indeed

Thanks
Jason

Thanks Alot! It seems like the AKL is really well themed. However, I like the feeling of total Disney isolation. I wouldn't want to be to close to real civilization. Would AKL be a problem for this.
Also, which resort would be best for kids? Thanks Again!

So in my mind this makes it really easy for you

BC or YC or BCV
Stormalong Bay is the BEST POOL at WDW hands down

OR

BWI/BWV
Luna Park is very cool pool as well and you will be in the middle of the action of the Boardwalk for your kids that would be cool

Also very very easy to get to Disney-MGM and Epcot from these two places

Very very central

Thanks
Jason

With kids 11 and 13 I would book the Yacht Club in a water view room. :) Stormalong Bay is an awesome pool, and you'll be super close to Epcot, MGM, the Boardwalk area, and lots of restaurants. Second choice would be the Grand Floridian lagoon view room. :) Nothing is better than waking up to the castle every morning and going to bed with it every night. :) They have a great pool too. :)

I agree that the kids would love Stormalong Bay. I would have to go for WL, however. It is close enough to the action by boat, yet seems a world away. You have access to Fort Wilderness as well. Whatever you decide you cannot go wrong at Disney..have fun.

Thanks alot. We have the Disney Visa Card. Are there any codes for this that might make things less expensive.

Good thread...it really makes you think about the resorts! For me the most magical resorts are the MK resorts. They are pure Disney magic, they are the orginal WDW Disney magic. How can you not love the monorail going by and Cinderella's castle and Space Mtn in the background?
That being said, considering the ages of your children my opinion on what they would enjoy most is YC/BC for the wonderful pool, the close access to MGM and Epcot and the whole exciting atmosphere of the boardwalk, the nigttime entertainment etc.
As for the best themed Disney resorts, my vote goes to WL and AKL. They are both incredible, but most kids will not be as impressed with the amazing architecture and attention to the smallest detail that these resorts possess as adults will.

ANIMAL KINGDOM LODGE!!!!!

This is the best resort I have ever stayed at. It's our new favorite and I don't think we will ever stay anywhere else!!!

No, AKL wouldn't be a problem for this. In my opinion, none of the Disney resorts seem close to the outside world. When you're at the resort, you are most definitely within Disney World and nowhere else! It's not like any of them are within view of outside hotels or restaurants or anything. The only exception would be that there's a McDonald's near the All Star resorts, but even that is a themed-up McDonald's.

I have only stayed at WL , so I can only offer an opinion on one of the deluxe hotels.

WL is a great place. It is just a lot of fun to look at. You can feel you are in Wyoming or somewhere west when at the hotel and then still enjoy the Florida feel of the parks when you are at them.

They did an excellent job on the resort. You would not be disappointed there. My next deluxe will be the BC, just to try something different.

For us there is no resort as magical as the Polynesian....the torches, the view of the MK across the lake, watching the Electrical Water Parade and fireworks from the beach...sigh.

I hope you find the magic wherever you end up!
