i have a hard time believing that any actor/musician is as famous as like, george w. bush or barack obama.

rpatz isn't that famous. lol. he did hp and twilight, but no one will care in 10 years.

I know, right? That's why I said Barack Obama. I can't imagine many people who is as famous as him.

Robert pattinson isn't all about twilight. People always think that, but he's been and soooo many other movies. Right now he's filming a different movie. He had about 300 fans there just to see him for 5 seconds. I would say that's a pretty big fanbase just to see him for 5 seconds.

I know the Beatles will always be great, but I'm saying that Rob is just starting out, and he already has a HUGE fanbase.

And I'm not saying Rob is the most famous person of all time, I know he isn't. I'm just saying right now he's pretty big.

Rob is mostly about Twilight. That is where he got most of his fanbase, and he doesn't even seen grateful. Soon, a lot of people will start resenting that fact.

He is a fad. In 10 years, nobody will really remember him, except those of us who liked Twilight in our youth. He'll probably have some kind of trashy reality show on E!, and will be a thing of the past.

The brat pack was really popular in the 80's, but have you heard Emilio Esteves lately? Anthony Micheal Hall? No, you haven't. They had girls allllll over them in the 80's though. And look at what Molly Ringwald is doing now, a crappy tv show on abc family.

Robert Pattinson is a fad. It, too, will pass.

Rober Pattinson is not that famous. He has yet to accomplish anything that is even worth recognition. Twilight would NOT be what it without those books to accompany it.
He just looks good, he doesn't merit being more famous than the Beatles.
Just because most people under the age of 20 will scream his name, it's really doubtful he'll last all that long.

And I don't take his performance in HP as important, he's in one movie and honestly I never liked Cedric. Little Ashes is a joke in my mind.

I think people have forgotten what the thread is about... The Beatles and Hitler are not our time, which is what the OP asked.

For me, I'd have to say it has to be someone like Barack Obama. Even though Obama's only been in the spotlight for a little over a year, he's already cemented his place in history. Whenever someone thinks of this time period and how blacks gained equal rights, they'll always remember how it started with the many boycotts, protest, ect. leading up to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s speech. And that ultimately lead to the United States' first black president, who is now a global icon.

And lol at the Twilight actor. I've never even heard of him. The most recognized figure of our time has to be someone who we could go anywhere in the world and they'd be known.

hitler, jesus, and the beatles are still very common no matter that they were all born many years ago (albeit some far more than others) we know who those people are and we grew up hearing about them on television and in word of mouth conversation. i very much believe that they should be considered "of our time" because they things they did changed the world to leave them famously/infamously a part of its day to day life.

How can you think a politician is more popular than a actor/musician? Politicians in the US are only known well by US citizens. Everybody else barely knows them. Now the Jonas Brothers, if you go to Europe Asia North America or South America, you will hear millions of girls screaming at the top of their lungs.

I guess it's more of a disagree to agree thing, but I'm generally thinking in the time I lived. Plus, I still would place money that more people know who Obama is compared to The Beatles, just because of the media exposure he receives.

And as far as Jesus.. well that's just not fair lol. Jesus is 1,000,000x more well known than the next most famous person I can think of.

The Beatles are the world's favourite band. Paul McCartney even after several divorces is still one of the richest men in the world. Men get rich by people buying their records.
