Thanks! Has anyone done a cost break down analysis to see if this is worth getting?
Here's what I did...
I have an itinerary for where we think we'll be each day, broken out further by morning, afternoon, evening, late evening.
For each day, I guessed or planned where we would want to eat and then looked at menus for each of those meals and added up what I thought we might order (based on what we would typically eat, not to maximize the plan). Then I added it all up.
In total, for 2 adults over 7 days, our food will cost about $970 including two refillable mugs and a daily budget for snacks. The QSDP for that same time frame would be $800. *But* my itinerary includes a few table service meals that aren't included in the QSDP.
We will want a couple of those table service so when I add up all of our choices that the QSDP doesn't cover, those add up to about $500.
My conclusion is we could save a little by doing the QS plan but we would be very limited in choices and have to compromise on what we want. Plus, the QS plan only includes 2 meals per day so we would need to supplement it anyway, probably bringing the cost up to close to what we will pay out of pocket for the meals we really want.
I should add, we don't drink very much and if we do, it's not usually at meals. Maybe a fancy drink around the pool, or a cold beer while walking around Epcot, and those aren't covered in the QSDP.
One more thing, the menus on
MDE do not show the same selection for snacks as were available previously. For instance, Karamel Kuche does not have any snacks and I eat at least 2 of their chocolate covered caramel squares
And we're staying at WL this trip where Geyser Pt used to be part of the QSDP but is not (as of now).
For me, paying out of pocket makes the most sense for this trip.
