Most Embarressing Moments at Disney

It wasn't at WDW, but at DL, and it was my cousin, not I.

We were on the indiana jones ride, and my cousin was looking for the key to my ECV in my purse. I have a small coach purse, so it's always busting at the seams, chalked full of stuff in it. Well, when she finally found the key, my lip gloss has gone overboard and onto this little walkway on the side of where you get off. Well, not thinking her actions through, she just walked out onto the little walkway, and grabbed the lip gloss. All the CMs gasped, and called, "SHE'S GONNA JUMP!" Apparently, they thought my cousin was going to jump onto the tracks. The whole ride shut down for the day, and all throughout the park we heard, "Did you hear someone tried to jump onto the tracks of Indiana Jones?"

You know this is the kind of thing that should show up on the "Great Tips" posts -- "Please don't ever wear white in flordia - the rain capital of the United States"

Or how about a whole white outfit? This did not happen to me, but...

This college-age girl and her BF and his friend were in the same raft with me on Kali, and yes, she was wearing off-white linen pants and matching top. Needless to say, her side of the raft got completely drenched - she had NOTHING on under that outfit! Her clothes were just sticking to her body. It was shocking!

Everyone on the raft was telling the guys to give her their shirts. They were reluctant, but she put one around her waist and one over her top. The 2 guys walked off bare chested. I felt so sorry for her. I could tell she just wanted to go home.

I'm with my DD who's 18 at the AK in the petting zoo area where there are pygmy goats (or some such creature) from far away I swear it looked like he had 5 legs and I say so....My daughter, bursting with laughter says "Mom, that's not a leg" (damn if it didn't reach the floor!!!)

DS was the cause of 2 embarassing moments for us. We took him to WDW when he was 4, and on a bus ride back to PO at the end of the day, we had a very full bus and a very talkative bus driver. The bus driver talked non-stop about things he'd done, where he'd been, pointing things out. My son piped in (loudly - is there any other way?) with "HEY! You know what? My butt itches because my daddy didn't wipe it very well." The bus driver was stunned into silence and there was laughing on the bus. We got alot of grins as people got off the bus.

The following year, at the studios, DS was proud to have his own camera. As we were heading to the Beauty and the Beast show, DS and DH went into the bathroom. When they were washing their hands, DS' camera fell out of his pocket and the flash went off. A man standing at the urinal said "Um, I think you just took my picture." DH said sorry and hurried DS out and told us about it. Later, when we developed the film, I couldn't figure out one of the pictures... then realized, it was "the picture" from the bathroom... and luckily, it was just a tipped picture of the sink!

Trip before last, I had prepared for months by reading everything I could here on the dis. One thread I read mentioned that you should say things to the characters to get them to interact. Well, I thought that was interesting, and thought I'd give it a shot.

Fast forward to Animal Kingdom, before the park opens. Chip and Dale come out and my daughter is the first one to get to see them, and miraculously, we have them all to ourselves. So, remembering the wonderful tip I got here on the dis, I tried to think of something to say. A crowd was forming and I was running out of time...WHAT TO SAY???!!! So then I blurted out, Hey, Chip, where do you keep your nuts? Chip fell on the ground clutching his stomach and literally rolling on the ground and I could hear him laughing out loud. (got his suit dirty too) Dale crossed his legs like he had to pee, but he at least had the presence of mind to puff out his cheeks and pat them, indicating that's where he kept his. Meanwhile, I was trying desperately to slink down through the concrete as parents with shocked faces and children with confused looks began to gather.

Last trip, I refused to have my picture taken with either of them. I still love them, but I don't want to remember that day... And of course, my family makes sure to point them out to me everywhere we go. DS even bought me a chip and dale pin, with...you guessed it...nuts on it.

I remember our first day in the magic kingdom and I heard the first morning train was comming so i told my sister we must hurry as after this one i think the parade comes and there wont be another till its over. We wanted to be in toontown when it opened. My sis and my son where slowly going up the stairs and im telling them to hurry as i hear the train, im running with the unbrella stroller all folded up safley when i trip going up the stairs. Now im a pooh sized lady so this was one of those falls where you just know someones watching but after i fell my sister and me where laffing so hard it was ok. To this day we look back at that time as yes embarissing for me but very funny i was not hurt just my ego

I don't know if you call this an embarressing moment but on my families very 1st stay at the Contemporary in May 1998, as we were getting into the elevator someone was trying to get my bag. I turned around and it was Pluto, so later on my family and I had good laugh about it.

Okay, I have a doozy. My DW and I think this is one of the funniest things that has ever happened to us. In telling it I sincerely hope I don't offend anyone.

A few years ago my DW and I are at WDW and it happened to be during the Gay Days weekend. That day the designated park for Gay Days was MK, and so to avoid the longer lines DW and I decide to go to MGM. We get to the park before it opens and there are a large number of folks (mostly guys) in their red shirts for Gay Days going to MGM instead of MK, and a crowd has formed, waiting for MGM to open. Standing next to DW and me is an older married couple, in their sixties. The wife is sort of gently nagging the husband about does he have this, does he have that, and he mentions something that makes it clear this is their very first visit to WDW. I notice he is wearing a University of South Carolina shirt but I don't think anything of it. The couple is clearly noticing the large number of guys in red shirts but you can tell from their expressions they have no idea what's going on. The wife says, "it must be a convention of some sort."

Then the wife chides the husband that his balding head is going to get sunburned and so he pulls out a baseball cap from his backpack and puts it on. I hear her tell him to put the cap on but I don't look over at him, but suddenly my DW is absolutely convulsed in laughter--the kind of laughter that's like an earthquake but that you are trying not to show. She is leaning against me, shaking, arms around my neck, trying to hold the laughter in, practically in tears. I look over at the married couple.

The gentleman has put on a baseball cap that, like his shirt, celebrates the University of South Carolina. For those of you who don't know, the school teams are called the Gamecocks. (A gamecock is a fighting rooster.) Well, gamecocks is a long word, and his baseball cap had only the *second* half of that word emblazoned across the front of it. IN GIANT CAPITAL LETTERS. And this is what this very nice but clueless man is wearing during Gay Days.

I am also immediately convulsed with crying laughter, trying to hold it in. I keep waiting for one of the guys in the red shirts to comment favorably on the gentleman's baseball cap but all eyes are forward as the MGM gates open and the crowd surges inside. The couple went on their merry, unconcerned way with that suddenly hilarious baseball cap. DW and I have often wondered if anyone ever said anything to him.

Sandybobandy, I could not have made this up. Never would have occurred to me. That's a good point, I suppose, about whether Disney would permit the hat but he was wearing it the last time we saw him and they went through ticket stiles a bit before we did, and nothing was said at that point--he kept the hat on. Obviously to those familiar with South Carolina athletics it has a completely innocent meaning and I've seen shirts and caps with that abbreviation worn and shown by South Carolina fans on nationally televised games. . .so I don't know.

My wife and I felt terrible we didn't say anything to him, sort of to let him know, but we didn't want to offend him, and we could barely speak we were laughing so hard. I do hope he and his wife had a good visit to WDW.

No, no, I totally believe you....that poor guy. He had NO idea. I bet all day his wife thought her husband had TP on his shoe because people kept looking at him. Soooo funny.

Last year, my mom and I were taking a walk around POFQ late at night. She decided she wanted to get as close to the river as possible, so she walked down to the boat dock and stood there, and I followed her. I was looking around for signs posted that might indicate we shouldn't be standing there, but Mom insists that we can. Suddenly a boat starts heading toward the dock and in the loudest, most embarrassing manner possible, the boat captain yells "GET OFF THE DOCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

My mom took off running. She didn't stop until we were out of sight of the people coming off the boat. She was totally embarrassed, and I was laughing my head off. Then she didn't want to go back to our room because our room faced the river and she was afraid they might see us and report us.

I still tease her about that to this day!

Thanks!! She was standing on the part of the dock that is not enclosed by anything, usually the part you step on to after getting off the boat, I guess.

Nothing like getting yelled at while you're at WDW.
