Morphsuit in disney?

Thanks! This was what I was looking for.
If you have kids it's worth the 30 or so bucks. He gets lots of smiles and chuckles when he wears it and even people asking to have their picture taken with him. He wore it to a Carolina game and got on TV. Last time he wore it out he had on suspenders and a tie. I thought it would be fun to wear to fantasmic with the glow ears.

Ewwwwwww

:sad2::lmao:

Wow, there is a whole lot of nastiness in this thread. There are plenty of adults who AW themselves at the parks. When we were there for SWW, there was a guy who was dressed in full Jack Sparrow gear who got A LOT of attention. With this "it's an inappropriate play for attention"...isn't there a lot of that at Disney? Little girls princessed to the max? Adults dressed as princesses and fairies? People vying to be Family of the Day? Groups running around in loud, matching t-shirts? Disney is a place to go and have fun. If this kid things this suit is fun, more power to him and I don't think that means there's anything wrong with him. Since when is expressing your individuality a bad thing? I do agree it's a moot point since the mask is against Disney rules, but all of this talk of it being inappropriate is just bogus.

I do wonder...how does one eat in these things?

Lots of big people dress up. Ever hear of Disney Bounding? Or CosPlaying? I just had breakfast this morning with a dear friend who dresses in a SteamPunk style every day of his life. He's in his 50's.

My 14 yo DD cosplays, but only at parties and conventions. She'd feel awkward dressing up in the parks, unless it was a special party. And my 12 yo DS, in all honesty, would think someone in a morphing suit in Magic Kingdom other than during MNSSHP, was odd. :confused3
OP, there are many really fun tee shirts out there. Ones that have light up animation, ones that have moving eyeballs generated by your iPhone. A shirt like that paired up with some fun ears may make your DS feel "dressed up" without attracting the wrong kind of attention.

1. I'm sure some people would. I saw a grown man dressed like Peter Pan at a restaurant

2. In that case, Morphsuits aren't a costume in my opinion.

3. What's wrong with that?

4. They don't necessarily dress for attention. So, you're saying kids dress up because they have psychological problems?

Regarding #4, OP said he does it for the attention.

If you dress like that in public, outside of the appropriate place (theater, conventions, etc) yes, you're doing it for the attention it will bring to your child and onto you as the parent.

But you know, I'm one of those dream-crusher parents that didn't indulge my children in every whim, so take that into consideration. ;)

What crossed my mind is how well could he see out of the thing???

I would not want a young kid in a crowded theme park not able to have full vision including the sides.

this is likely why Disney has the rule of no full face masks.

AKK

Is it a captain jack or Peter Pan morph suit? Otherwise it is not the same. You don't see Cinderella dresses at universal.

If I saw a little girl dressed as Cinderella at Universal, I would not be bothered by it. I could totally understand if a family did a split stay between WDW and Universal and the girl wanted to wear her princess dress.

It's a kid on vacation - let them enjoy themselves!

If you're an adult critiquing a child based on their wardrobe to a theme park, I think you're the one with the problem.

I don't think anyone is saying that his expression of individuality is a bad thing ~at all~ it's "inappropriate" because it goes against WDW policy, not because the behavior is inappropriate for a young boy.

Really? So you would go out to dinner dressed as wonder woman?

Steam punk isn't a costumes in my opinion. Just like goth or punk.

A morph costume is like a 10 year old girl getting dresses up as tinkerbell and going to six flags.

If your kid needs attention that much it is time to figure out why.

Um, yeah, actually I would! I've been ogling a Wonder Woman hoodie for awhile. I saw it on a guest at a convention (I was a vendor) and commented that it was nice, but then the woman said, "Wait, you haven't seen the best part!" Then she pulled up her hood and there was a TIARA on it!

I literally squealed. :lmao:

If they're selling those hoodies next spring, I am SO buying one! And wearing it everywhere.

And what the heck is wrong with a 10yo dressing up like Tinkerbell at Six Flags? Tall poppies don't need to have their heads chopped off, just for sticking up above the rest of the flowers. It's okay to be different. It doesn't mean you're psychologically disordered. If the kid's got the strength of character to pull it off, then more power to them!

One of my son's friends wears a wolf hat with ears and paws from here: http://www.spirithoods.com/. He's 16 and a great kid.

I don't think it's the dressing up as much as what he wants to wear. Those suits are kinda creepy, IMO. Just a thing I have about people having faces.;) If he wanted to dress as Jack Sparrow I don't think people would take issue with it.

Read some of the posts again. Some are, in fact, saying the behavior is inappropriate in any venue.

Um, actually it appears that's exactly what some folks are saying. To quote Granny square:

I think we all agree he can't wear it to Disney, because it's against Disney policy to cover your face.

Yes, sorry, I meant - with the exception of the one poster. I think everyone else supports the idea, just not the timing.

If you are talking about me, a morph suit at a ball game, party, frat party, etc appropriate. Cosplay at a convention, party, with other Cosplay people, appropriate. Wonder Woman costume (not apron lol, which I make or hoodie) party, anywhere else there are consenting adults...;) Disney bound...not costumes.

A time and a place.

Wanting that attention in inappropriate places is, well, inappropriate.

Why is it so wrong to attract attention to yourself?

I can understand if you're, say, shouting epithets at random strangers, perhaps. That would be rude and upsetting. But a child dressing up in a costume isn't harming anyone.

I didn't indulge my kids either, but I would have let mine wear a costume anywhere it was allowed.

Hoodie isn't a costume.

Yeah, the Wonder Woman hoodie was *definitely* a costume! Especially with the tiara.

(It's a tiarrraaa!) :lovestruc

To be fair I do not think that the morph suit is appropriate for Disney because it goes against their policy! If they were fine with it then I would be too but I'm sure it's mostly a safety issue!!

That being said--I'm in college and while I do not cosplay I love dressing up any time I can!! I know I went through that phase where I was "too cool" to do anything like that but now I wish I could go back--they don't make the Disney Planes costume big enough for adults!! :(

I would also like to remind people that the characters you meet--they're adults dressing up in costumes!! :clown:

Just saying!!

What are some inappropriate places or situations that have been discussed here? Besides Disney, I mean, because we've already established that it's not allowed to cover your face there. Disney's not on the table any more, and the OP has acknowledged that.

You've just said yourself that everywhere this kid had worn the suit so far, is an appropriate venue for wearing it, regardless of his age.

And I doubt the OP would allow her kid to go to school in a morph suit, as that would distract him and the others from learning. And he's not going to church in it (though actually our church would have no problem with it :lmao:). And he's not going to his great grandma's 95th birthday party in it. Or his aunt's wedding.

So... What are we arguing about, again?
