Morphsuit in disney?

Is it a captain jack or Peter Pan morph suit? Otherwise it is not the same. You don't see Cinderella dresses at universal.

I don't know why you wouldn't (although I've only been to Universal once so I can't really speak to that). I frequently see little girls in princess dresses in restaurants, at the grocery store, etc. This really doesn't seem any different to me. Kids like to dress up. What's the harm?

Point taken...just sayin' tween boys secretly want to get dressed up too and not just at halloween

I appreciate what you are saying but I agree that there is a time & a place & this in inappropriate for WDW outside of the Halloween parties. Kids dressing up in the pirates & princessy garb fits the theme of the parks & characters, so it's not so much about standing out as it is blending in IMO.

TennesseeGirl - I just want to say I think it's AWESOME that your boy is so confident, fun, and capable of doing his own thing without worrying about what strangers will think.

Yes, he can't do it at Disney, because they have a rule saying that faces can't be covered. And that's fine. Those rules are in place for good reason.

But I think you should be proud of yourself for raising a boy with such a strong sense of individuality. That'll stand him in good stead, his whole life.

Way to go, mom! :thumbsup2

It's a curious fashion trend, but I'm all for self-expression so I have no problem with it. Wish I had the physique to pull one off! :)

Little boys do. Tweens? Not so much. 10 year old girls either. Dressing up is for littles or Halloween.

How do you know whether tween boys like to dress up? And what's wrong with it if they do?

My 14 yo dd loves to dress up. She spent months planning a Ren Faire costume, still loves Halloween, begged me to buy her a Greek goddess costume that she could adapt for a special themed costume day at her school, and otherwise channels that energy into theater activities.

I honestly don't see the big deal about a 10yo in a morph suit. Sounds fun to me.

Lots of big people dress up. Ever hear of Disney Bounding? Or CosPlaying? I just had breakfast this morning with a dear friend who dresses in a SteamPunk style every day of his life. He's in his 50's.

My 14yo, who spent months planning her Ren Faire costume, has gotten interested in SteamPunk style. She spends hours on Etsy planning outfits she can't afford :D

My kiddos are 12 and 15 and love costumes (beginning to get into Cosplay), but all I could think of when I saw the suit is 'I can't breathe!'. I am mildly claustrophobic and just seeing that freaks me out a bit. TennesseeGirl, I am in awe of your son wanting to wear that.

Actually, my 9-yr old loves dress up still. I just scored a dozen wigs & costume odds & ends on clearance from Halloween to build a dress up box for DD for Christmas. She's big on drama, theatre, arts and I can't see her outgrowing this for a while.

There is an appropriate time and place for dressing up in what the OP is suggesting.

Disney isn't it.

I don't see anything wrong with dressing up at any age. It's the covering of the face that makes it inappropriate, in my opinion.

It seems to me they went beyond that and suggested that dressing up is inappropriate outside of childhood and Halloween.

Is Disney some holy shrine?? this attitude is ridiculous. How does a kid wearing a morphsuit hurt anybody? It's a park to have fun in...as long as he's not making kids cry I don't get the issue.

Really? So you would go out to dinner dressed as wonder woman?

Steam punk isn't a costumes in my opinion. Just like goth or punk.

A morph costume is like a 10 year old girl getting dresses up as tinkerbell and going to six flags.

If your kid needs attention that much it is time to figure out why.

Agreed- in the quote that I responded to the poster was stating the opinion that dress up is ONLY for littles & Halloween, outside of Disney, and that the OP's 10-yr old son was out of the appropriate age group for such things.

1. Really? So you would go out to dinner dressed as wonder woman?

2. Steam punk isn't a costumes in my opinion. Just like goth or punk.

4. If your kid needs attention that much it is time to figure out why.

1. I'm sure some people would. I saw a grown man dressed like Peter Pan at a restaurant

2. In that case, Morphsuits aren't a costume in my opinion.

3. What's wrong with that?

4. They don't necessarily dress for attention. So, you're saying kids dress up because they have psychological problems?

If someone wants to is that really your business? So if I want to wear my Hogwarts shirt with a cape on the back to MK I guess that's out of bounds?

Holy shrine? I'm guessing you haven't read many of my posts. :lmao:

Disney has rules about people wearing costumes to the parks. This particular costume does not fit within the guidelines.
