Morimoto Asia - Is it worth it? Is it amazing beyond words, or just so-so?
If its amazing enough to go to, would you pay oop or use 2 dining credits on it? And lastly, do they accept Disney gift cards?

TIA!!

I haven't been there, but we just cancelled our ADR for MA. I wasn't all that excited about it after some of the reviews that I have read and since my wife was really planning on just getting sushi there we decided we would just eat at the hotel that night and hit up the Kona Island sushi bar.

I went there 8 days after opening, really solid food for the most part! Our waiter was amazing (sans his very bad breath), can't remember his name, the bussers were kind of clunky and awkward but I'm sure they've gotten better.

They have some really special japanese items including some of the better Japanese Single Malt Whiskies, some great Hitachino Beers (including their sweet stout), an option to have REAL grated wasabi not the green horseradish paste, and the higher grades of including Chu Toro and Oh Toro Tuna Belly (Toro)

We were a table of 5 shared a ton of different things including, Bao Style Pork Buns, Dim Sum Spare Ribs, Dumplings, Peking Duck, Calamari, Yard/Long Beans, Whole Fried Fish, and sushi rolls and had their churros for dessert. I had Chu and Oh Toro (Fatty Tuna Belly), one piece each, $8 and $12 respectively. I can conclusively say that I'd easily spend $12 on another single piece of Oh Toro, it was that good.

From what I remember:

Bao style pork buns were great but larger inside than expected we couldn't finish all 4
Spare Ribs were excellent but sweet
Dim Sum were great
Dumplings were forgettable
Calamari was forgettable
Peking Duck was very good but wouldn't be if you're animal fat adverse as the thick fatty skin is still on the slices of breast meat
Fried fish was great but very sweet as well, they put the veggies and sauce on top of the mid section of the fish and that made that whole section go from crispy to soggy really quick
Yard/Long Beans were a great side
Sushi rolls were basic we wouldn't order them again, I was expecting more "special" rolls to be available
Churros were pretty good the boston cream and nutella (which came in a little sealed squeeze tube, think neosporin) toppings were a nice touch
Chu Toro was ok, not worth $8/piece
Oh Toro was one of the best things I had the whole trip (including some of the items on the Victoria and Albert's 10 course) I'd easily be back for a few more pieces.

As to whether it was worth it overall I definitely would go back, but idk if it'd be at the top of my list for anything other than a sparerib appetizer, a half dozen pieces of Oh Toro, some Hitachino beers and a Yamazaki 18 Yr Single Malt.

They also have a walk up window now for some appetizerey foods if you'd rather spend the DDP credits elsewhere but still want to try some of the stuff. I want to go to both Morimoto Asia and the Morimoto Asia Street Food window on our upcoming trip

I was just there on July 1st with my family of 6. The service was horrible, for instance, the waitress forgot my husband's dumplings. We all thought the food was just ok. We shared: chicken fried rice (seriously, how do you screw that up), a tofu veggie dish, chicken lo mein, and a few sushi rolls. None of us would go back...

We love the duck, it comes with pancakes (like tortillas) we decided that the pancakes do nothing for the duck, so we ate the delicious Duck sans pancakes. The took my Disney Gift card and TIW.

We had lunch there last Spring and enjoyed it. Service was acceptable. We had the prix fix lunch and choose the California roll and choose the orange chic for the entree. The facility is beautiful and we liked it enough to make reservations again for this fall. Give it a try and judge for yourself!

We enjoyed our dinner. It's not as good as Victoria & Albert, but it is different food. Don't go expecting unique and daring sushi. The sushi was very good, but it's pretty normal. I would eat there again, but probably only after trying some other places first. The inside is beautiful, and the service was excellent. I hate to compare it to Nobu, since when I ate there, he no longer worked there. However, I did think our meal at Nobu in 2002 was better. They are different restaurants though.

We were there for our trip this past June and to say it was a disaster would be giving too much credit to this place. I really did want to like it but I highly doubt I will ever give it another chance. We were seated about 10 minutes past our ADR and then our party of 8 just sat in our seats for 20 minutes until our server finally took our drink orders. During that entire time he would walk past our table and say, " I'll be right with you all." Once he did finally take our drink orders and our appetizer orders it only got worse from there. I ordered the spicy tuna roll with brown rice. When it came out to the table it had white rice. No problem, we all make mistakes. He took it back but also he missed a miso soup for one of us as well. 10 minutes later he returned with another tuna roll and while putting it on the table he dropped the miso soup and much of it landed on my nephew's back sitting next to me. I CAN'T MAKE THIS UP, BELIEVE ME. His response was sorry, and took several minutes to get it cleaned up. Do you think a manager would have been there right away? NO. AGAIN, I CAN'T MAKE THIS UP.

Fortunately, the dinner part of our meal was very good and went without a hitch. But when it was time to order the desserts, things went south again for our party of 8. We put our order in and waited for 20 minutes and no dessert. Finally I waived the server down and asked about the order. He admitted he forgot to enter it in. AGAIN, I CAN'T MAKE THIS UP. At that time I asked could we please see the manager? 5 minutes went past no manager. At the 10 minute point the desserts arrived, no manager. I asked again to see the manager. After about 5 more minutes someone stopped by to inform me that the the manager was not available at that moment but she would relay the concern to him on our behalf. ????? I just took the bill, paid the bill including it's automatic 18% gratuity and left. I did stop into the restaurant a few days later and asked to see the manager whom to my surprise was courteous and available. He responded that he did not know any thing about our experience and was there and that he would address this issue with our server. He did seem to be genuine and did offer us a comped meal if we would all return. I politely told him we are all set in our ADR's for the rest of the week and Morimoto nor Disney Springs are part of the plan. Even free, I doubt I will go back again. Good food... Worst service I've ever had and that includes any Waffle House or Denny's I've ever eaten at. (which is seldom)

This restaurant really disappointed me. I had been lucky enough to eat at one of his other locations and the menu there was outstanding. Here it feels more like a fancy PF Changs :(

DH and I had dinner here over Memorial Day weekend.. We had a wonderful table upstairs in the room, we were lucky and got a table sitting at the window overlooking the Chandelier, for us is seem very private. Our server was on point and did not miss a step. I had the Sake Sangria which I was a little bit nervous about getting she said if you don't like it I will get you something else, It was soooo good, very different but in a good way. I had 2 of them :D. DH went with a Kirin beer he too went for more than 1 :D.. For appetizers we went with California roll ( DH is not so adventurous in this category) and Dumplings.. We both enjoyed the California roll but the Dumplings were the star between the 2. I went with the Duck Ramen... It was sooooooooooooo good, really amazingly good. DH went with the Shrimp Fried Rice, and while good it had a lot of heat. Not sure if always this spicy but it was hot. We skipped on dessert, I just could not eat another bite.

Overall - Service was spot on, Food was very good. Will be back again..

I suggest you go and try it. This way you will know for yourself.

Went in June. Great meal and great service! I'd go again.

Oh no. We are going here in Sept for the 1st time....now, I'm not so sure.....these reviews do not sound so good :guilty:

I started thinking the same thing. As I said earlier, I ended up cancelling and we are just going to do sushi at Kona Island instead.

HATED IT...oops too harsh?... was sooo excited then YUCK! First stunning beautiful restaurant. Service was good.
Appetizer long skinny deep fried sticks..with gooey crab & mayo? inside..wow BAD. We had spring rolls..ok nothing special Main course was Phad Thai..it had a definite catsup flavor to the sauce..some very cheap restaurants actually do use this..but however it was made..not impressed. . I have had phad thai all over the country..that was the worst. Will I give them another chance? No way.
