Hi
Time is getting nearer now .In a major dilema where to buy as keep changing our minds:lmao: Apologies if this is a long thread but here goes.
We want to buy as many points as we can afford so we can :lmao:have a two visit per year combined with a few nights off site stay to stretch our points. Now after looking at DVC news last night we did some figures on thier current offers which I understand may not be there in november.
Although DB has only stayed at SSR and ALKV I have also stayed at OKW. We know we dont want SSR as our home resort for sure.
We both want to view the BW BC and WLV(my dream resort) before we make a final decision. We have ruled out BLT as although it looks great we would not get that many points for our money(100 for $14000) but will have a look when we do our tour as I do like the contemporary feel. Animal kingdom (DB favorite ) works out to 180 $20160 but 221 at alower rate is $14300.
BC AND BWV 160 points are $18400;OKW 160 is $16000 200 is $20000 and my favorite is 160 is $16320 200 is $20400.
We would ideally like 180-200. I know we have to pay a 10% deposit but is there anything else up front we need to pay?
Will they need ID from us and is deposit paid by card or will they accept TC/Cash?
Ok Next bit.Regards AP. As we are doing dvc on our second day will we be able to get the discount for the AP when we visit the next park? Will they give us something to say we have signed up as members? I am going to get the TIW as well so we will have DVC,AP AND TIW card. Can they be used togeather or will only certain ones be accepted?
Regards the AP with DVC discount how much is it to upgrade? Not sure if to get just the normal AP which I understand gives 10% or the PAP that gives the 20%:confused3
Will our guide go through any discounts with us as it seems very confusing:surfweb:
Sorry for all the questions. With 72 days to go I want to be prepared for the hard sell which I am sure we will get though the guy seems nice on the phone.
TIA Alyson

We bought BLT last year and got our member cards on the same day - you should be able to buy discounted APs using your cards. We took our passports as ID and the only extra you should have to pay other than the deposit is closing costs - this will be a few hundred dollars I think :)

We paid for our entire 234 point contract on a credit card ( then paid it off) to get air miles. We bought unseen from the UK but had the chance to view the units and decided from a previous trip (So not entirely unseen!) we use our DVC discount even on trips that are not booked at or with DVC to get money off food etc. The only negative to the whole process is the annual dues bill that arrives in January! Would I be without it? No: Will I try to add on? Yes, as soon as I can afford to!

For resorts your cheapest will be OKW at the moment at $100 per point, followed by VWL at $102 (although that is a shorter contract ending in 2042, OKW will be extended to end 2057) then AKV at either $112 for $104. TBH if you are looking at 200 points with the pricing on AKV you might as well get 220 for $22880 instead of 200 for $22400!

They will need ID however not sure on the deposit best to check with your guide.

You can only use one discount and most restaurants this will be TIW - check with your server. Never get used AP or DVC discounts as they are normally only 10% and at lunch.

Regards the AP with DVC discount how much is it to upgrade? Not sure if to get just the normal AP which I understand gives 10% or the PAP that gives the 20%:confused3
If you are going to spend more than $1000 in merchandise or visit the water parks more than twice get the PAP otherwise get the regular AP. Those are the breakeven levels.

No but they will give you the portable perks book that lists them all - easy to read.

Never had the hard sell from any guide we have met (Had 3 now - first one in 2006 wasn't available when we went back to buy in 2009, Second guide retired so we are now on number 3!)

Thanks elise I was hoping you would post. I really would love WLV but as you say 2042 contract will end. The more we look the harder it gets but we have narrowed it down to AKLV ,WLV and OKW. Purely as we would be happy to stay at any of these everytime. Having stayed at Akl and me not DB at Okw its just WLV we need to see . Is it best we go on our own and hv a look round? Do u think the rep cld arrange for us to look at an empty room if we went late morning?
I understand abt the discounts with tiw but i just rwad they add 18 gratuity so i suppose it will only give us 2% off compared to 10% dvc or AP. Mind you mostly leave tht much tip so i suppose will still save.
Prob will spend $ 1000 + as hve the sponge with us:rotfl: and doing TL this time prob both next year.
Thanks again elise. The hard sell bit came from the tour i did in 2005 and the guy was really pushy in the end I asked to see someone else but by tht time my ex was fuming so we went out annoyed and dissapointed. I hope its not the same guy this time. He sounds nice but i will recognise him anyway. Lots of planning and saving to do:wizard:

are you looking at resale or direct from disney
Under the new policy on resale not through Disney your restricted on were you can use the points (non Disney Resale your restricted to the dvc resorts)

Hope something I said helps :goodvibes

VWL - just pop over there and have a look round on your own (nice break if you are at MK!) and ask at the front desk if they have an empty room they could let you have a look at. Lunchtime would probably have the most luck as checkout is 11am so some rooms should be cleaned and hopefully still unoccupied.

Enjoy choosing :goodvibes

Ooh that sounds good.We were going to go to the boardwalk from DTD then get the bus to MK then get the boat to WL.I am going to book an afternoon DVC visit so we can hopefully do opening of suntrust account; then BWV and WL. Just hope it all works out as only have one day to sort it all. Will be an early start.Do you think the DVC car will pick us up from WL if we tell them our plan?

They will pick you from anywhere on property:thumbsup2

BTW from your other thread the TIW is still the better discount even with the auto gratuity. The AP discount is 10% the. You would tip at least 15% so you are at +5% rather than -2% :) We just think of the TIW card as covering our tips :goodvibes

Thats what I thought .Still a saving as like you say we have the tip to pay. If we manage to save the extra willl get The PAP but leaning more toward regular. Soooooooooo exciting. Just having issues with Suntrust.Sent Five emails and cannot get a straight answer from them. There is a thread on this board but regards proof of ID I am going to take everything :rotfl: They can't say no then. Just to clarify I could pay finance from my own bank but dues have to come from either fairfx card,CC,(yearly) or monthly from a US bank?
68 days till we leave and £3000 to save :scared1: Got 3 car boots booked and 150 extra work hours. (If I manage to do all of them we will have nearly 4000 so gonna push myself :woohoo: I can have 2 pairs of Uggs and a 2 dooney and bourke bags then:rotfl:)

Annual dues need to be paid annually in January by CC or FairFx or monthly by DD from a US bank account.

I am not sure on finance but from what I have read that needs to be taken monthly from a US bank account or CC/FairFx. They can not take from a UK bank account (although they could use your debit card I suppose however you would be paying the currency charges every month)
