As I said before – newbie owner and renter….

Also - I understand that I need to book the room reservation and the magical express for the renters. Do I also request the Disney Dining Plan at the time of the reservation?
When I make a reservation through member services – do I get a reservation number that the renter can then use to make ADR through the Disney Dining Number? Anything else I need to do for the renter?

Also if I had points that were within 6 months of expiring (100 points BCV expiring 1-31-08, currently available from 2006) - what would you ask for these given the expiration date ?

Thank you.

Your problem is going to be posting them now will result in very few requests that you can actually fulfill due to limited availability at this time of year.

When I rent point to renters, I make the ressie in my name, get a 50% deposit, then switch it to their name, and send them the paperwork and get the balance within 30 days of them receiving the paperwork. Then they have all confirmation numbers, etc. You, however, need to put them on the Dining Plan and book Magical Express.

If you can find any reservation time and be able to use those points, there is no reason to fire sale them.

Your renter will not be able to request ME, DDP or anything from Member Services. You'll need to make all the requests for them.

Make it easy on yourself, use your points for you and your family.

Thanks for the advice. Just bought my DVC on resale and it came with 100 currently active points from 2006 that will expire in 2008 (Jan 31). I am absolutely unable to use before that time so my only choice is to rent or to lose them. Also am going on the Disney Cruise as our first trip and it seems much better to sell the points and pay in cash since the cruise requires so many points. Great pointers. Certainly plan on using rather then renting in the future.

I didn't mean to discourage you from renting! I do it often and think it's a great way to defray annual costs, especially in years when I don't think I will get to WDW. Once I rent the points, if I do decide to go, I borrow from next year's allotment or stay at a "regular" resort and try to get a AP discount or a AAA discount.

Sincerely, you are the DVC ROCK.... Steadfast and relentless.... I love your dedication to the DVC collective.

Hi There,
I am a newbie regarding buying DVC points. I would like to buy 36 points for Boardwalk the last week in Nov. Just thought I would check with you since you are going to have some for sale. I am nervous since I have never rented from anyone! Looking for Nov 25th-29th with dining added. Let me know if you are interested!

You are not going to find anything available for those dates this late in the game. If you wanted to rent a reservation from a member for the week after Thanksgiving, you should have been seeking a member to rent from at least four or five months ago.
