My husband and I have been considering DVC ownership since our tour last summer. Finally on the verge of a decision. we're planning on an extended family trip (12 people total) in May 2003 and have a couple of questions. If we purchase a resale now and close in Feb. is it realistic to think that we could get a reservation at OKW for a 3BR Grand Villa 3 months out (assuming pts. are available)? If not is it possible to get simultaneous reservations at a studio and a 2BR or can you only get one room at a time? Thanks for any advice.

OKW for a 3BR Grand Villa 3 months out is unrealistic. I believe you need to have the 11 month window at OKW to get a grand villa. Anyone had any luck at the 7 month window?

No problem with multiple rooms on the same day. You could use all your points for as many rooms as they would buy for one single day if you wanted to treat a bunch of friends to DVC for a night (I believe this exaggeration is correct, I could actually see it for maybe a wedding or something like that).

Good luck with your purchase.

OKW has 27 GV's. If you are not going during a "prime" week, holidays, etc you won't know until you call MS. My gut feeling, if it is in Jan-Feb or , Aug-Sept-Oct, you might have a pretty good chance.

It is possible!! We went last May 2002 and booked a GV at OKW for 4 nights Sun - Thurs. and only booked in Feb. I don't think May is as hard a time of year to book as other times such as Oct/Nov or holidays. Good luck!! And WELCOME HOME!!:D

It may be optimistic to assume you will close in Feb. My own resale took about ten weeks to close - and another week before we could make ressies, once we found the contract we bought. We weren't too picky on contract - it only took about four days between the time we decided to buy one and faxing paperwork back and forth - and only that long because the first contract we were interested in was pulled, but if you are looking for something very specific (resort, price, use year, number of points), you may have to shop for a while. So about three months between making the decision and being able to make reservations.

Mine was slower than I believe is normal. And I wasn't pushing for quick. We did this nearly a year ago and our first trip won't be until this fall, so I wasn't in a hurry.
