Okay, I hadn't even opened this thread, but I got bored with the movie that DH is watching. So.
First, I do not see how we live in a time when abortions are legally protected and many insurance companies cover them (even if they do not cover BCP) and anybody could say that this is a moral/religious plot to take away womens rights!
I think that it is a $$$$$ issue more than people realize. Let's take the example of the acne medication. Let's face it. One half of the countries population, or the insurance companies covered patients, are not going to be on a medication like this. And certainly not for the duration of childbearing years. But, the cost of providing a medication (birth control) to nearly one-half of the covered patients, for many years, could be quite considerable.
As far as the right-wing and left-wing paranoia, well, anyone who is frequenting the sites of the types of organizations listed here, well, heck, that would be enough to make anyone paranoid!
I do think that there is merit to the argument that sometimes it is still a 'man's world'. The whole Viagra thing. Womens issues in health care have often lagged WAY behind mens. Until recently, most medical studies and trials did not even include women at all. All of the sudden it was like some big wake-up call the women are just as much at risk of heart attacks as men.

But, that is a whole different thread.
And, so is the whole insurance/health care debate as a whole. We all know that our health care system does have it's flaws. But, I for one, would always come out against the Gov't being the one to make direct decisions regarding my health.
