There seems to be more DVC rental sites coming up on the internet now a days. Looks as if competition might be a good thing here. Any opinions?

well in that case wonder why Disney is now asking more for DVC resorts than WDW resorts.

I think it's going to be highly variable how well the new competition does. Several of the newer ones seem to be promoting value to the renter, and paying less for points. That's not going to get them the point business of people with established relationships with the more established companies.

I don't know that it changes the 11-month/7-month dynamic of renting much. It's going to remain very difficult to rent into certain properties.

It will be a benefit to the members, not the renters. They can choose who pays the most for their points.

Agreed. Better for point owners than point renters. As a DVC owner, I would ALWAYS rent my points with the company that pays me the most.

In order for the rental companies to pay DVC owners more, they then turn around and make the renters pay more.

This is why the ones with lower costs to renters are probably not really doing much for competition, to my mind. While maybe they just have far lower profit margins, they do appear to pay less per point.

while I have not used David yet - he gets pretty good reviews. He will definitely try to find you what you want.

I am booked for AS Sports in the end of January because the discount wasn't giving a very good price on AKL so I started looking at a savannah villa at AKL, how lovely. What a treat that would be for me going solo right before my birthday.

I have been looking at David's Rental Site, any opinions?

We'll be looking at David's and another one. (Can't name non-advertisers). The unnamed one offers insurance that allows you to cancel and get varying amounts of refunds based on how long before the reservation you cancel. Although decent travel insurance would probably cover the DVC cancellation. I'll have to evaluate the differences.

Renting DVC at 3 months out can be difficult most of the year, regardless of broker.

I rented from the boards on here and got AKL standard room for $132 a night for the last week in January.
