Is MCO up and running on touchless ID? If you have used it how does it work? My home airport isn't up on it until the summer. I am flying SW so I can use it if it's up and running.
I flew out of MCO just over a month ago and used touchless without any problem. It was on my boarding pass and worked smoothly just like it has at IAD and EWR recently. All of these flights were on United which I opted into via my profile in the app.
It was a separate precheck line to the left of the regular precheck. Really quick and easy. I was through in maybe 3 minutes. Just look for the touchless icon.Is Touchless a separate Precheck line, or do you have to wait in the same line, just not pull out your ID? Thanks!
Does that mean we still get the PreCheck benefits of not having to take off shoes, remove computers, etc?It was a separate precheck line to the left of the regular precheck. Really quick and easy. I was through in maybe 3 minutes. Just look for the touchless icon.
Correct. For me, it's been exactly the same as PreCheck, I've just waited in a different (usually smaller) line and didn't have to show ID.Does that mean we still get the PreCheck benefits of not having to take off shoes, remove computers, etc?
Yes, as above, it’s the same as PreCheck. The difference is you don’t have to show your ID or boarding pass to the TSA agent, all you do is have your photo taken. So no trying to keep from dropping your ID and phone (or paper boarding pass) while juggling carryons. Much easier, much faster!Does that mean we still get the PreCheck benefits of not having to take off shoes, remove computers, etc?
It is easy and I find it preferable at airports where it's offered. It's currently available at 60 airports, mostly large hubs. It will continue expanding to other airports throughout 2026.Yes, as above, it’s the same as PreCheck. If you purchase a ticket then opt into touchless ID it is not normally intended to apply to an existing purchased ticket.
Precheck will apply, the Touchless ID is the one that may not. That’s kind of strange. I know when we first applied for Precheck we already had tickets purchased. We entered our number into our accounts when we got them & it did apply to our already purchased tickets. I am considering adding it to,our SW accounts. We already have 2 trips booked, will be annoying to not be able to use it if we have it., Especially when a trip is months away.
Touchless ID is different and it's pretty mixed on whether people get it or not to existing reservations with some mentioning tickets purchased too long ago, check in too close to flight, etc. More or less don't expect it to though it may show up it's not the same as Pre-check which is supposed to show up with your KTN in your airline profile added.

Of course *sigh* and of course they all like to do it differentlyI just checked all the participating airlines. Looks like the airlines decide when it’s effective & for how long. Only Southwest says it won’t apply to already booked flights. Alaska & Hawaii say all future flights. American & Delta let you join Touchless during the mobile check in process. United says give it 10 minutes to take effect & then applies to all future flights. American says it’s only valid for 12 months. All the others say it applies until you opt out.
Of course, I fly Southwest.![]()
