Taking some time out to sit and eat I think is going to help me get through the long park days. We have booked Carthay Circle WOC package for the first evening we are there.

We are planning on doing Surfs up.

Other options I like the look of are Ralph Brennan's jazz kitchen, the boys really love Jazz, would this be good for lunch or dinner?

Blue Bayou? Lunch or dinner with the kids?

Any other not to miss options?

I am doing blue bayou, carnation cafe (bfast), cafe Orleans, and wine country trattoria. It sounds like you've made some great choices so far! Have you considered rainforest cafe? Lots of interesting goings on! And trader Sam's enchanted tiki bar is open for lunch and dinner (kids allowed until 8pm). Lots of special effects!

If your boys like jazz and it fits in your schedule Ralph Brennan's has a nice brunch on Sundays with live music. Your boys could get the kids buffet ( adults is a la carte only ) which has breakfast and lunch items. Plus cotton candy made right there for dessert!

We shared the Bourbon sampler, the soup trio, and the crab cakes. So good!

PS - I hope Vancouver is a stop on the Canadian leg of your whirlwind world tour ;)

If you like Cajun/Creole and music, I would just suggest stopping in at the French Market (New Orleans Square). They have shaded outdoor seating and the Royal Street Bachelors are often onstage playing great New Orleans-style jazz. It's counter service, but DH and I really liked their red beans and rice with Andouille sausage. We were there for lunch; I don't know if they have it at dinner or not.

I would definitely do Blue Bayou. Again, I like it for lunch. It's a little cheaper during lunch and the only time you can get the Monte Cristo, which I love. We always ask to wait for a table by the water; usually this takes about 30 minutes.

Brennan's -- we ate at their Express kitchen a couple of weeks ago. Had their jambalaya and beignets. The jambalaya was decent, but honestly I liked the red beans and rice with sausage we had at French Market more. The beignets were good, but heavier than the ones you get in New Orleans. More like a square powdered doughnut. DD had their chicken strips; they were below average, not crispy at all. DH had some kind of po boy; can't remember which one but he said it was good.

In DCA, we enjoyed the Alfresco Terrace in the Wine Country area. They had good sangria and everything we ordered there was very tasty. A more sophisticated menu than most of DL. It was a nice, shaded area and we were easily able to get a table at lunchtime.

I wish we were going Vancouver as we have friends there but we just can't fit it in. I like the idea of the Sunday brunch :)

Brianna, thanks, I will look at the French market too.

It's so hard as so many places get such mixed reviews.

How likely is it that Brunch would book up in Sept? Wondering if I should book it and think about it or wing it. I feel like I'm booking lots of meals that could be park time but I know that I will need the down time due to fatigue & pain issues. The boys also do best with enforced down time.
