More Cat Fights

After reading about all the cat fights going on around here, I thought I would add my own....

My cat chews on plastic grocery bags.... mostly about 3 o'clock in the morning. The noise is hideous (slurp slurp, crinkle lick lick chomp) and I always lay there wondering how on earth I managed to overlook one of those tasty things and how on earth she manages to find it in the dark. I usually end up throwing a pillow into the darkness and hope it lands somewhere in her vincinity. But sometimes I have to get out of bed and stuff the thing into my desk drawer because if I don't put it away she WILL find it.

What on earth can be so tantalizing about plastic? The noise just grosses me out

:earseek:  :earseek:

Ugh! My Tycho likes his daddy's stinky stuff. The smellier, the better. When DH gets home from the gym, Tycho is in heaven. He hoards his daddy's used socks under DH's desk and will sleep there all day.

Wedge, of course, does nothing disgusting. Well, actually, if you're reading in bed, he will insist on being petted on your chest...and then rotates around so his butt is right in your face. Very attractive.

Melora,

I have one cat that does the exact same thing to plastic bags! It drives me crazy as well! I also don't see the attraction but he's a really weird cat, LOL!

I guess I'm lucky. :) Moonbeam doesn't eat anything weird, she's QUIET at night and doesn't bug me to get fed in the morning until I get up. Then she chirps at me. ;)

About the only annoying thing she does is get behind the entertainment center, but it's easy to get her out. Throw her favorite tease nearby, ignore her, and out she'll pounce. :)

My cat, Misty, likes to lick plastic bags. Her favorite are grocery bags, but she also likes the plastic wrapping that things like paper towels come in and trash bags. I read somewhere that some bags are coated with animal fat to keep the plastic from sticking together, so maybe that’s what’s she’s attracted to.

We had an incident several years ago where she managed to get her head through the handle opening of a bag. She wasn’t hurt, but was so traumatized by it that she hid behind the furnace for several hours. Now I try to keep the plastic out of reach for her and to cut the handles on any bags I have. But she seems to only lick the plastic when someone is around, because she likes someone to brush/pet her while she’s doing it.

My Alex loves plastic too. He especially loves wrapped candies, like peppermints and butterscotch, which I used to keep in drawers. Recently, Alex learned how to open drawers. He is infamous for carrying candies up the stairs and into my bed where he bats them around -- in the middle of the night, of course.

If he wants to play fetch with it, he'll drop it on my head. I get out of bed, throw the candy down the stairs, and lock my bedroom door while he's chasing it down the stairs. When I wake up, he's at my bedroom door waiting for me with the candy under close watch.

Gotta love 'em!

My Ariel loves to gnaw on plastic bags, too.

Too funny! Our Barf kitty (she was a tortie and when we got her DH said she looked like something the dog threw up... it stuck) LOVED plastic. She especially loved to lick the inside of a plastic pop bottle lid. WEIRD cat, but SO funny! The reason I quote the above is she also loved licking the bags, but her favorite thing to do when she finished was to purposefully put her head through a handle hole and run around with the bag on like a superman cape! She just cracked us up!

She had lots of weird habits and likes. She loved fruit - she'd eat grape popsicles if you let her have them. She also loved root beer and anything minty. DH used to have to hide his gum as she'd chew through the wrappers to get to it.

We lost her in November, while we were at WDW in fact, and it was very difficult. We have four kitties and she was our first to go (at 9 years old, very sudden and luckily we had great sitters who did everything right). I find with each day her memory brings me more joy and less sadness. She was one of a kind, for sure.
