It wasn't horrible, we're spaced out in age--my brother is 4 yrs older than me, I'm 2 yrs older than my younger brother, then he's 2 yr older than the next one. She's 15 months older than my sister, and the baby is 4 yrs younger than her. So when the baby was born:
Madeline was 4
Maribeth was 5
Mark was 7
I was 9
Mike was almost 13.

And when she was in kindergarten:
Madeline was in 4th grade
Maribeth was in 5th grade
Mark was in 7th grade
I was a freshman in high school
Mike was a freshman in college.

My DH came from a family of 7 and they are pretty spread out too, so the oldest kids would help out with the younger one's whether they wanted to or not
