Moo Gorgeous pictures!! You walked around? what - no swimming in the cold?? DH has been trying to swim at 5:30 am!!

99 days till DISNEY!! :woohoo: 99 days and a wake up till I have to run 13.1 miles :faint:

I'm spending way too much time in the pre trip report area! DH is going to take the computer tonight - and I have been working!! :woohoo: Disney money!

Moo...thanks for sharing the pictures. It looks like you had a very nice trip. It's always kind of weird seeing Hollywood in other people's pictures. But cool at the same time. :)

Marita...how was Fiddler?

Twink...if you find that couple thousand under the couch, let me know. I might be supposed to check behind mine!

Sandy...why would anyone need to swim (or do anything for that matter) at 5:30am?

I feel like I've been posting about school stuff a lot but I lost snack kid today and it's really bumming me out. Without going into details, his mom decided she didn't want him anymore, so he's elsewhere. When I got that little guy last year he couldn't even write his name and he trusted NO ONE. I had him reading and he would give me a hug and say "I love you, see you in the morning" every day when he left. I'm kind of in a "is it really worth it?" mood tonight. I guess I just feel like no matter how hard I try does it really make any difference? :confused3 Food for thought. ;) Ho hum.

Kumbafrigginya.
:grouphug:

PJ, yes, it is worth it and you ARE making a difference

That little boy will always, always remember you, and hopefully keep what you taught him about love and trust and learning in his heart.

peej: He will miss you and always remember you. One day he might come back and say thank you, when he's all growed up. :)

We had a townhall meeting today with updates on what's coming for MK, DTD and DCA.

Most important for those here is probably the extended meeting time with Disney Characters , from average of 2 mins to 12 minutes per party, and a bunch of new restaurants with lots of waterfront stuff at PI. All this will take 2-4 years though.

DS had a big to-do at his AF base today. SOme big fire broke out, they evacuated the entire base, no power. But all seems to be back to normal by now.
He called me at 4:50 to tell me about it to ensure me that he did not burn to a crisp in case I saw it on the news (). Of course I did not see any of that. But when I tried to Google it later tonight, I could not find it, he looked and was ticked there wasnt much online about it, LOL.

9000 MooHooty (SOB!) I need a life, LOL ALthough I still swear at least 3,000 were artificially added

Well, state government here in Michigan may be shut down tomorrow because our blankety blank legislators couldn't resolve the budget issues before the deadline. Grrrrrr.

Peej - Sorry to hear that about your little guy. He surely will remember Miss Lauren :grouphug: And it IS worth it! I think everyone has teachers who made a difference in their lives.

It'll be nice for you to see your sisters soon!!!

Sandy - Double digits. w00t! Nope, too cold and windy to go to swimming. Tonight too! I'm still playing catch-up. I'll buckle down next week on my swimming.

bbn - Those baby names really take the cake :lmao: I'm pretty thrilled with the weight loss, but I had to go buy some new clothes tonight because I hardly have anything that fits any more and it's just too cold for my capris! I got a pair of jeans and some black pants. And a couple tops. People at work are going to get tired seeing me wear the same things all the time

Lex! Goog to see you. I thought of you when I saw the Secretariat statue at Saratoga Springs last week

Marita - Glad you enjoyed your show :thumbsup2

MommyP - Did Chad make it home tonight? Hope so :goodvibes

Twink - It sure is looking like Disney is having a lot of special offers lately. Did you see the new deal where you can get a free ticket for volunteering with eligible organizations?

Peej....:hug::hug: It does make a difference every single day in little ways that you can't imagine. Sounds like you taught snack kid to trust and to believe in himself and that's a valuable tool in life.

Moo - Yes he did.

I saw that new deal and thought it was cool. But then I looked at the website to see what volunteering things were available and there is nothing near us and some parts of the country didn't have any organizations at all. That doesn't seem well thought out.

I just got back from the eye doctor. I'm scheduled to see the cataract surgeon for a consultation on the 23rd. The doctor told me if I went to the drivers license office today, they would yank my license and that glasses right now would not really help.

So on the way home, things were a little blurry after the eye drops, but not too bad until was outside of out subdivision and had to make a left across oncoming traffic. I could NOT tell if there were cars coming for sure. So I sat there for a while hoping, but it didnt help. Cars lined up behind me and started honking. I finally got out of the car and asked the guy behing me if he could drive my car across the street. He said he would honk when the coast was clear, so that's what he did. But what a harrowing and scary experience that was! :scared1:

P.J-- :hug:I'm with the others. You are a great teacher! Keep up the good work! I bet you have a lot of love coming from your kids.

I was on a field trip today with Hannah's class. I had five great little girls to watch. They were so much fun even if I was freezing. We were doing a workshop for Water conservation. It was all hands on and outside at different stations.

The teacher lets me take Hannah home early and she says have a good weekend. I told Hannah she is a day early. Well then Nicholas comes home and says they have tomorrow off....I am like what! Sure enough they have a P.D day. Usually I have all this marked on the calendar but didn't find time yet. This means I can sleep in tomorrow. And no lunches to make.:woohoo:

Moo-- new clothes that is great. I was scared my jeans would be tight since the shorts weather is long gone now. But they still fit...thank goodness.

Monica- I am so sorry but your math looks really hard. I have already blocked out the algebra I did with my son in jr high. I didn't like algebra when I took it and it hasn't improved much over the years. Heh. If however you need any help with stuff like how to set up a PCR reaction or details of the life cycle of a fern let me know. I will be totally all over that.

Marita- Eye stuff scares me too. But I think you will be much happier after you have the surgery. Being able to see is cool.

Moo- Way to go on new clothes! You are looking great in the pictures. I want new clothes... because I am bored with my non diverse maternity wardrobe.

NAB- enjoy your sleep in! My kids would get up even earlier as so not to waste any vacation. I guess yours are old enough to get breakfast on their own.

Peej- I am sure the not knowing about your little snack buddy is hard... I am sure that his time in your class was an oasis in his turbulent life and I am glad he had that time to feel loved and accepted even if it was short.

Couch Update: So far I have collected a hot wheel, a chocolate chip, one flip-flop, two pencils and a handful of mickey mouse bingo markers. How many nights at the Pop do you think I can get in fair trade?

Marita -- That sounds scary.....I'm glad your getting your eyes done. Everyone says after they do they should have done it a long time ago. Like Twink say it is good to see.

Twinkie-- I probably won't sleep to late, I wake up like clock work. But it is nice to know I don't have to get up and run or yell for the kids to get out of bed. Nicholas will sleep in , Hannah will be up but she will entertain herself even if it is just reading in bed.

I never find money in my couch, only crumbs, odd toys and a lot of popcorn.

Twinkie, get a new maternity top to cheer you up!

Yikes on finding stuff behind/in the couch. I just lose stuff lately, it seems, and nobody around to blame. Like my Excel books tonight. I know full well that neither DD or DH would touch them with a 10 foot pole, but they are nowhere to be found :headache:

Nab, waking up without pressure is nice! Enjoy it.

My microwave egg cooker finally arrived today. :cool1:

Guess I have to play around and make some deviled eggs tonight.

PJ, yes, it is worth it and you ARE making a difference

That little boy will always, always remember you, and hopefully keep what you taught him about love and trust and learning in his heart.
Thanks, Marita.

peej: He will miss you and always remember you. One day he might come back and say thank you, when he's all growed up. :)
I just worry that he's going to grow up "wrong." Most of these kids seem to be headed down that path.

From 2 minutes to 12 minutes??!!! :scared1: Sheesh! How're they gonna work out that one?

Thanks for the kind words.

I'm kind of super excited. :)

That's funny that you didn't know they were off tomorrow. Can you imagine if you went to school only to find it was closed? Ha. I don't have students again until next Wednesday. We're off tomorrow then Monday is professional development and Tuesday is conferences. As one mom was picking up her kid I said "see you Wednesday!" And she had the same reaction as you. She seemed a little upset to learn that her little darling won't be in school over the next 5 days! :rotfl:

We made pasta life cycle of a mealworm projects today. Is that something that passes your inspection or do you only care to discuss the life cycles of plants?

Thanks for the words of wisdom...that's exactly it. I have both called and emailed his new teacher but haven't heard back. :confused3 I would just like a little update and to send him a note or something so I can feel like he's okay. If that makes sense.

According to my calculations that's half a night behind the dumpster at Pop.

My microwave egg cooker finally arrived today. :cool1:
If ever there was a cause for celebration, this is it.

Did I mention we're off tomorrow? :cool1:

Adding all those character meeting spots

I take it you did not take PD over the summer??

BTW, I remember my first grade teacher getting engaged (Fraulein Weissman) and the very mean old teacher hitting kids.
You can be SURE that snack boy is going to remember you!

I did allllll my PD the week I got back from Orlando. We have to have 24 hours a year. It was thrilling and I learned a ton.:rolleyes::rolleyes: It's good though, because now I have tomorrow off. :)

That made me laugh. I wonder how that worked out for Fraulein Weissman!

Moo - Yes he did.

So they're not doing the free day on your birthday thing in 2010? Where can you look to find the organizations, btw? I find this whole concept somewhat unusual. :confused3

I'm pretty sure the "free birthday" is continuing next year. I think this whole "Celebration" campaign lacks some luster, IMO.

BUTTTTTT, that being said, we are going to celebrate a graduation, an anniversary, and 4 first time visits to DL in a couple of weeks.(of course we don't need tickets, though) Going to be interesting to see how that unfolds. I am planning on getting the buttons (if anyone will wear them), but I do have it noted on dining res.

WISHFUL THINKING THOUGHT OF THE DAY FROM NEW DIRECTOR: We cannot come in over forecast in labor this month! Spoken with 2 days to go in a 6 week month! Umm, boss, you arent goint to fix things in 2 days...........

Well, today ended up being a work day - they only shut down for a couple hours last night.

MommyP - Glad to hear that Chad's home! I need to look up which organizations have volunteer opportunities so I can let a few people know.

Peej - w00t on your day off!!!!!

Marita - What a scary drive home! I'm so happy that you are getting in soon for your cataract appointment. Glad your DS is OK :grouphug:

Twink - You should just splurge and a new top! Or are there any consignment shops in your area that have maternity clothes? I know a lot of people who have had weight loss surgery shop at consignment shops or Goodwill, but I have had too much trouble trying to get the fabric softener fragrance out of some things that my hubby bought on e-Bay a while back that I figure my best bet is just to suck it up and buy new clothes.

Nabbie - Glad your jeans fit! I know we will not be buying any Halloween candy. There will be plenty at work to resist! I went through the hall closet and found some jackets that fit me now. Just have to run them through the wash. Good thing I found them because it was SO COLD here this morning!

Lynette - I see over yonder that you have been suffering with this cold weather too!

It is great waking up with know you don't have to get up if you don't want too. So I didn't I rolled over and slept until 9:30.

P.J.-- Yay for the day off. Today I am taking the school calander and marking all my days off. I just bought a 2010 calander so I will be all set. Unless I forget where I put next years calander that is...:lmao: We have a day off in Nov and one in Dec, along with a Christmas break of two weeks.

Also off Oct. 12th for Thanksgiving.

It cold out again today...I don't want to turn on the furnance yet, soon the temp in the house says 64 degrees. Sweaters for all. When Hubby left for work this morning I he tucked me all in from head to toe, it was funny. So I knew it had to be cold outside the bed.

Not sure what we are doing with our day off....Nicholas is still in bed. Hannah wants to go to the mall and get the Turkey Webkin. I really don't want to do anything. But I am guessing we will end up at the mall. Because once Nicholas is up he will join in with her.
