Celery-- I am with Blue I would have moved to another hotel by now. Looks like your social calendar is going to get full with all these men.

Lil Blue-- only 3 hours sleep, I would be pretty grumpy with only that much sleep. Hope the doctor can help.

Sandy-- thanks for that useful post about Facebook.

Well I got my heart shaped cookies made for school tomorrow. With some to spare. Even made hubby some peanut butter rice krispie square things he loves.

Now I get to sit down for a short bit before I have to go get them.

Marita - What was that reference in reference to?

Thanks for all the well wishes. Hopefully changing jobs was a good decision. It scares me because now we're back to the beginning as far as losing your job and not getting unemployment. At least he'd worked up to that at the other place. Plus he has NO idea yet what he's going to be making. Hopefully no less than $11 an hour. He was down to $12.60 at the other place and not usually making a 40 hour check. The downside to doing commercial only is when you run out of local work you have to travel. They only put you up in hotels if it's over 2 1/2 + hours away. I terrified he'll have to be staying a week away somewhere come mid August. Plus are they going to let him take time off when the baby comes? :sad1:

We went kayaking today and it was a total bust. The closer we got to the coast the more cloudy it became. It was actually foggy at 1pm. WTH? Not funny. Back home(where unfortunately there is no beach:sad2:) it
s sunny and hot. lol

Hopefully the weather is going to be nice on Saturday so we can go to the beach. Although the weather said it was nice for today, so

(and an extra :snooty: for the peej)
I see your :snooty: and raise you :snooty: :snooty: Whatcha gonna do now?

Well, Sandy, if I can't convince some of my IRL friends or family to join me, I certainly will be checking with my DIS peeps, because I will NOT be letting those points go to waste!

It sure would be easier if they could be used more places than SSR or Disneyland. I'd LOVE to try a cruise or BCV. Sigh.
I think I know someone who is going to Disneyland who could use those points. You could give them to her! Now what was her name again? :scratchin Kidding, kidding. I vote for the 2 bedroom. Then again, you'll never be able to go back to a studio after that.

yeah I'm wIerd. I know.
At least you've finally come to terms with what we all already knew.

Today's fun update:
I’m staying at a Hampton Inn in Pittsburgh. It’s undergoing a massive remodel, which I knew. So the workout room is temporarily closed – you can see me every night in the parking lot walking/jogging since I’m trying to lose some extra weight.
And remember the key card machine is broken so every time I want in my room, the front desk has to walk me up and let me in.
Then this morning there’s no electricity!
I had to use my Nintendo DS as a flashlight to see.
I did get a hot shower, thank goodness – so after not having hot water in Cincinnati, I think I like not having power better.
I asked the front desk clerk what they were going to do tomorrow to liven things up – she said she thinks maybe a bonfire in the lobby. :)
Hey, your day sounds a lot like mine!

Peej- nevah let the parents get your real email, phone number or address

Life continues to be overbooked this week. Fortunately my eye apt was cancelled. Unfortunately work is kind of yucky this week. I need some light and fluffy entertainment so post away:thumbsup2
Too late. Plus the parents I had to call today (only 2) had to be called from my cell phone since we had no land lines d/t no power.

I tried to think of something light and entertaining to post. And then I gave up. The end. You're welcome.

Had to drop the kids off today because is is pouring rain with one heck of a wind out there.

They are going to the show and skating after that. So they are having a fun day today. They say it is to celebrate Family day which is on Monday and they have off. Weird to call it that since there family isn't there too. We were invited to go but I have Valentine cookies to make so I can send them to school tomorrow as a surprised.

Sandy-- you can be as old as you want to be. :thumbsup2 Are you at the library again?

Twinkie-- sorry for your yucky week. Hope someone comes along to entertain you since you do such a good job of entertaining us. :lmao:

This is not getting my stuff done....better go or I will still be here in an hour.:rotfl:
Sounds like a fun day for the kids! I made my kids valentine cookies, too. My assistant wrote them all poems, printed them on really cute paper, and had them laminated. Uhhhhh yeah, the kids will be getting a paper valentine and a cookie from me!

Marita...I wonder if anyone would ever complain about being upgraded. Idk, maybe there's someone out there who just looooves Pop and would rather stay there than the Beach Club. People are wIerd, ya know.

Well, today was quite the day in Montessori-ville. I walked into the building around 8:15 and there were no lights!! The power was still out from the storm. There were various faculty members herding kids up to the gym since the cafeteria (where they usually go in the morning) was pitch black. You should have seen them all stumbling up the pitch black stairwell. We only had one flashlight. I rescued one of my second graders from a pile of kids who had all fallen. Seriously. Most of my kids get free breakfast at school, so they brought around dry cereal for breakfast in the classrooms. For lunch they ordered Papa John's pizza for the kids. Can't cook without power!!

The stairwells were more or less impassable and the bathrooms were a mess. I don't even want to remember it. :scared: There are no windows in there so it was of course pitch black. Our assistants took turns holding flashlights in the stalls, but we didn't have near enough flash lights. The kids could use the toilets but not flush them. That started smelling really nice really quickly. :scared: :scared: :scared: My kids were all freezing and we all had our coats on in the building. I mean, I'm all for not having any more make up days, but when you have kids in a building and you cannot feed them, they're freezing, and there are no bathroom facilities, that's a good reason to cancel school. We finally got a generator around 2:00. Hopefully the power will be back on tomorrow. I'm exhausted, the kids were out of control with all the excitement.

To add to the day, around noon the principal brought me a little girl and said "surprise, you have a new student!!" :headache: Is it time to go to bed yet?

My hotel was still without power, so I had to drive around Pittsburgh in traffic until I found a suitable replacement.

For which I get NO GOLD STAR!

Poor Peej, the super duper montessori teacher, gets one billion to infinity gold stars!

no germs were spread in that hug.

cuz I no feel so good. :(
but I have my fuzzy socks, comfy pj pants and well worn t-shirt on in my new hotel room, so I'm good.

It's like a scene from nip/tuck - see the below quote about Usher's wife:

Tameka Raymond checked into the Sao Rafael Hospital last Friday for a "simple liposuction." Raymond suffered a cardiac arrest while being anesthetized for the procedure

Sandy - Thanks for that FB link. Looks like I need to do a bit more with my settings. I often look through my niece, nephew, and daughter's friends' photos when they are tagged in them :rolleyes1

Those kids are having WAY more fun than I ever had in college, LOL!

I think I know someone who is going to Disneyland who could use those points. You could give them to her! Now what was her name again? :scratchin Kidding, kidding. I vote for the 2 bedroom. Then again, you'll never be able to go back to a studio after that.
Peej - I've had that thought about getting a 2 BR. I don't think my paltry points will go too far for the hotel where you're staying ;) If it comes down to not being able to use them, I'll certainly be in touch.

I just got a DVC mailing today: add on 100 points and get a "free" cruise for four. Umm, I don't think so right now. I'm still steamed that they jacked up the minimum add-on from 25 to 100 points.

I sure hope you have a better day at school tomorrow.

Cel - I'm glad you switched hotels  I also read that about Usher's wife. Scary.

Nabbie - We went from nice weather to windy and cold :guilty: But the snow is pretty much all melted now. I'm sure we'll get more soon. Dang snow.

Lil Blue - Get some decent sleep tonight! I can hardly wait for the three day weekend to get caught up on my rest.

Hope things go well tomorrow for all of you whose kids have Valentine's activities

Infinity gold stars? Oh wow. My kids will be so jealous. I'm surely gonna flaunt that one in their faces!
Boo for not feeling good, but I'm glad you've now moved to a functioning hotel. That was some crazy talk. We washed our hands with cold water all day, but I certainly would not be interested in showering in cold water. That would take me back to my college days. Oh those long ago days...

Peej - I've had that thought about getting a 2 BR. I don't think my paltry points will go too far for the hotel where you're staying ;) If it comes down to not being able to use them, I'll certainly be in touch.
I'm just teasing about the points. Get the 2BR. Splurge while you have the chance. If you got 3 studios, there's no guarantee they'll be near each other. With the 2 bedroom, you'll all be right there.

So now that I've removed myself from the situation and had some time to relax, I got to thinking. Why couldn't we flush the toilets? What does that have to do with anything? Does it take electricity to flush a toilet?? Really???

Same for phone lines PJ. Electricity not needed.
Sorry about your day from helk!

Cel, glad you got a new hotel. Did the other one at least take money off the rates?
Marita...I wonder if anyone would ever complain about being upgraded. Idk, maybe there's someone out there who just looooves Pop and would rather stay there than the Beach Club. People are wIerd, ya know.
I'm sure there are those people. Probably mostly for the lack of Quick Service if they are on the QSR plan. I haven't heard anything, but then I rarely hear anything anyway, LOL.
Marita - What was that reference in reference to?
I dont remember :confused3

Twinkie, hope your week from helk ends soon  We miss you

Moo, how much do 100 points cost?

Dh stayed home sick for 2 days this week, went to work today, and said hes not sure he is going in tomorrow. He just got up to get iced tea. Not a good sign for tomorrow. He already said he might not go in tomorrow.

I'm still hungry and have no idea what I want to eat. I had one chicago roll all day.

Pretty run of the mill day here for me today, nothing to report.

ETA: I just proposed lunch at Panera for tomorrow with the work group. Broccoli cheese soup and fresh french bread, YUM! Hope it works out.

Everyone

I just heard a commercial from E-Harmony saying that its a free communication weekend. Friday-Monday :goodvibes

Seeing that when I looked once out of bordom and Eharmony had not matches for me (not even ONE), that wouldnt do me any good.

Not that im looking, anyway :rolleyes1

LB, why are you excited about this, I thought you were married?

:

I got it too, in email form. Yeah, not gonna happen.

I got it too, in email form. Yeah, not gonna happen.

There was an article in the paper today about DVC and the credit crunch. It seems DVC used to "outsource" financing to banks and get the money right then, now they have to finance themselves and it cuts into profits because they have to wait for payments. Probably won't impact consumers, I'm guessing, but I dont know.

Marita - 100 points starts at $11,200. Price per point depends on the resort.

Hence my comment about the "free cruise"

PJ - If the school is on public water, no electricity should have been needed for flushing or handwashing due to system pressure. BUT for people who are on a well system, it requires power to pump the water.

I'm going to start checking this weekend with my friends to see who might be available for a Disney trip since I'll need to make my ressies soon.

It sure would help if I knew whether they're going to be offering free dining.

I think I finally settled my dinner still hungry dilemma. I just put in 4 small red potatoes to boil to be mashed with butter and sour cream.

Probably not the best choice for after 10 pm. :rotfl:

I also discovered 2 containers of sliced mushrooms in the veggie drawer in the fridge. I need to do something with them tomorrow. TWO!
with DD no longer living here, they wont get eaten, but they are still pretty fresh, so gotta salvage them.

Some salt pork and onions fried in butter, I'm thinking...

Well. Then I'm really not sure why we couldn't flush the toilets. We were definitely told not to let the kids flush though, so that's what I was doing. We didn't have hot water, but that makes sense. Once we got the generator, we still weren't allowed to turn on classroom lights, computers, or the heat. It was just used for the lights in the hallways, stairwells, and bathrooms. We were told anything else would be too much for the generator to handle.

Anyway, I'm heading to bed. I'm going to Cincinnati after school tomorrow. I'll probably check back in Sunday night as this weekend will be very busy. Sunday would have been my grandma's birthday and Tuesday will be the anniversary of her death. So, we're having a memorial service on Sunday since that's the day the whole family and all her friends can be there. Hopefully we'll be able to remember the good times with grandma and not feel too sad.

Saturday I'm getting all dressed up and going to a fancy schmancy downtown restaurant with my bff Eren, her boyfriend, and my friend Ben. Should be fun!

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend.
:grouphug:

PJ, Hope you have a great weekend with dinner and remembering grandma.

Peej - Sending you a  I'm sure the service will be a wonderful remembrance of your Grandma.

Have a lovely dinner!

Good Morning!

I am not accustomed to seeing this time of the day...but I'm watching my cousins little girl today and I'm not sure what time she'll be arriving.

I'm hoping to take the kids to a park day this morning with the other homeschooler's from our church. This is the 2nd/last time in a year that they come out here to a closer park. It's about halfway for most of them and those of us in this town, but they prefer to mostly go to the 5 minute away parks. Anyway it's near the power plant on the river and all the manatees go there at this time of year because the power plant dumps hot water into the river, thus making it nice and toasty near this park, so the manatees "winter" there. I hope we can go and see some, the boys have never seen one in person. I've actually seen on at the beach before.

DVC: That is a ridiculous amount of money. :scared1: We would never be able to buy into DVC, besides buying into it costing more than a house nowadays the yearly fees are outrageous.

Morning.

The kids are one their 4 day weekend.

Of course I had an earlier than normal drop-off on a day I didn't have to wake up any of my kids for school.

The mom works for Edible Arrangements. They dip fruit and stuff into chocolate and make arrangements. Once in a while she'll bring something over. They are yummy! She's swamped this week.

Mal's ice cream social was so cool. I got to watch her in action. The teacher's kept walking over and commenting how excited Mal was that I was coming.

Before the party started, she kept looking at me from the corner of her eye. She wanted to run to me, but didn't know if she should. Then the teacher said, go over to your mom, which only took 1.4 seconds and she jumped into my arms and hugged me.

We are living in flood zone central in this part of Michigan. All these rivers are overflowing. Roads are closed and people's basements are getting ruined.

I hope you are have a nice dry weekend!
