Okay, ladies. I've posted all the dreck and drivel I have for today. Gotta get to bed. Gotta get up for work tomorrow, and then I'm hosting yet another playdate tomorrow after school. At some point, I'm going to need to learn to say no!

I thought everyone brought pillows.. And since I'm in day 6 of hotel stays, I can say its been the most comforting thing at night, at U of I, sometimes I thought, well at least my bed will be made and clean sheets too!!

PJ here's one cute story... helping the 1 st graders write a "January" sentence - and the teacher had a "January" Poster (divided into 9 pictures, with the word under - ie skates, snow, snowman, sledding,...
and Martin Luther King Jr...
so the kids were eager to tell me - and Barack Obama starts with a B not an "M" "why did they make a mistake here?"

Today is peaceful now - expecting more relatives, including my mil and sil... also, I just lost my train of thought...

Rough week, DS was normally off Tuesday and Wednesday for teacher workdays, then Thursday for snow (no plows here in poohdinkie G'boro) and a 2 hour delay today.

DS in Charlotte deposited his check, and instead of 63.86 the bank deposited it as 638.60. Had to straighten that out, then deal with college housing to make the deposit for next years housing.

Our Y that I work at has a private Montessori school in the front, and a Y run preschool in the back I guess you have to choose which one you want.

We are getting away for the weekend, dropping DS at friends then heading to the big city for our 20th anniversary.

Laundry costs per room are way over budget. And that is a HUGE expense for hotels. So in talking with the Exec Housekeeper and the Laundry Finance guy, we figured out that part of the issue is that with the room rehab at one side of the resort, we added 1,152 pillows that are being placed on beds. Nobody took that into consideration when doing budgets( Or even knew about it on the Finance side). So pillow case cleaning is way up, but so are sheets and towels. More digging to be done..........

I can see it now. It's bad enough we have to use never washed nasty comforters/blankets. Next "washing" the sheets between guests will consist of a quick spritz with Febreze.


Twinkie - What a cute "If I were President" story. Seth has said for a couple years now that he is going to be President so you can talk about Jesus and pray in public school. He was very torn up about that.

I cleaned today and cut back all my frost killed plants.

I am exhausted now.

What a great idea! We could save tons of money by waiting till every 4th new group of guests checking into a room, instead of every 4th day and checkout.

I just read the business section of todays paper. How depressing! Microsoft is laying off 5,000 people. Companies are cutting pay raises. I bet they will do it at Disney too for management, they did it in 2001.

Heya Moovers! It's finally Friday!!!!! I'm so thankful that this week is over! And as a bonus, my kids don't have CCD in the morning, so we can all sleep in! I heard them talking earlier this evening, saying that they're going to stay in their pajamas all day tomorrow and lounge, since the temperature isn't supposed to go above 15 degrees!

I am thinking that I may postpone my b-day dinner out with the DH. Not sure if I want to relinquish my spot in front of the fireplace to stand in a freezing cold line on a Saturday night for dinner.

Yeah, but only 1 per person. I can't really justify bringing EXTRA pillows for everyone...for those, I just use those zip-on pillow covers, cuz who really wants their head on a pillow that some stranger prolly drooled all over?

It finally got back to 68 here today and 70's next week. Whew!

I actually contemplated working tonight cause there is nothing online. But so far I resisted.....

We (regional team) went out to a pizza place today for lunch. I got a hot Italian club, which I only ate half of, so I could heat it up for dinner tonight.
I think I may do that soonishly.

DD stopped by tonight. To get a ton of fruits DH bought for her and whatever else, I dont know. And made herself a pancake. And left the kitchen a minor mess. I have been doing so good with keeping it neat and clean. And I am in no mood to clean right now.

Oh, here is a funny story. We had a team meeting today, and somehow a recent phone call came up. The boss was at the other hotel, on speaker phone and called Asst.#2.

Boss: Hi, Asst #2, I have a complicated question.

Is Marita there?

He could have called me directly, she is not a secretary.

I am in the same room with Asst #2, so his worlds just collided. She is NOT my secretary.

Boss was crying with laughter at the memory.

The funeral was nice. We laughed a bit, cried a lot, and hugged one another. The best part was getting to hear the great stories about her, before the Alzheimer's and dementia changed her so. It was good to be reminded of who she really was.

The funeral home did a great job. Hubby said, "that is the Mother that I remember." So I am relieved that his last images of her are not of sickness and pain. She is at peace, and for that we are grateful.

Thank you all for your kind thoughts and prayers.

Glad the funeral went well, Steph. We had a service for my former boss' boss last year, he was only 47. And the eulogy people did a great job envoking funny memories and laughs.

Allie, I skeeve EVERYTHING, so I could never let my kids sleep on pillows in a hotel room without covering them first. I have zip-on pillow covers that are allergen and germ resistant, and we pack them whenever we travel.


Steph, glad your MIL's funeral went well. It's good that her family got to celebrate her life and relive some of the happier times. God bless.

Pillows - We travel with too much other stuff to bring pillows for everyone. I bring mine if it's a long trip, otherwise Disney pillows are pretty comfortable. The boys and Chad sleep on what's there.

Chad and my Dad are laying the floor in the laundry room today. Yay! It will be officially done! We found some not too ugly linoleum for .45 a sq. ft.

Allie, I skeeve EVERYTHING, so I could never let my kids sleep on pillows in a hotel room without covering them first. I have zip-on pillow covers that are allergen and germ resistant, and we pack them whenever we travel.

Don't pillow cases count? Plus most germs that infect people can't live too long outside the human body so we just don't go to bed early the first day.

We do not bring pillows when traveling despite the fact that most of my family seems to be princesses. And I am not talking about the girls. There is no room in luggage or even the minivan once we are all packed with necessities like snacks, diapers, wipes, and matchy matchy t-shirts.

The railings in line are a 100x skeevier to me. Cause you know bored kids lick them, and wipe boogers on them and probably other stuff and then my kids are licking them about 20 seconds later.
