Babynurse--Glad you had a good holiday and got to sleep in yesterday. We get to see Bolt on the ship next week. Not sure what other movies are playing. They are usually some old and current ones playing.

Marita-- I think you need a maid, did you ever think of getting one...:lmao: If you get one can I get one too. I hate cleaning. I couldn't justify it though since I am home all day.

We have Hubby's work Christmas party tonight. I am still deciding what to wear. I have two choices and hubby is no help. Sending the kids off to the in-laws so that will be a 2 hour round trip to drop them off this afternoon. They are also cat sitting while we are away so Buddy is getting dropped off at the same time.

Grandpa will be helping Hannah with her math homework. He doesn't know it yet though...shhh. It's ok he used to be a school teacher a long time ago so I bet he will do better then I could.

Hi, Smidgy - Nice to see you! Cleaning ladies would run screaming from my house right now!!! :lmao: BUT, they could make a LOT of money if they stuck around ;)

I'm actually working on the laundry, dishes, and decluttering today. I've been kind of grumpy having the roofers here for three days interfering with my relaxing. At least they're working on the shed and cleaning up today instead of stomping and banging on the roof. Yesterday I got so tired of them peering in the windows going up and down ladders that I closed some blinds.

Marita - Keep us posted on whether that craig's list lady works out.

bbn - Sorry you didn't get to see Bolt! Hubby and I are going to see it this evening, I think.

While we're out and about, I'm going to pick up a few things I need for our trip. I found Airborne on sale at Meijer this morning - a three-pack for only $5.00!!! 2/3 off the regular price :woohoo: So I'll have plenty for my trip. I'm going to take it every day in hopes of warding off my normal Disney cold/bronchitis.

Twink - I would imagine you're knee-deep in packing today! Three more sleeps?   Did you get the kids' autograph books finished?

Nabbie - Have fun at your hubby's work party!!!

Marita! Poor Marita  I want a maid to do my laundry AND put it all neatly away (the bane of my existence with soooo many kids) and fetch sippy cups of milk for Pissy all day. I hate house-cleaning too but I HATE mess and clutter worse. :rolleyes1

My Christmas tree is UP and semi decorated! This year's tree is a MASSIVE 10 footer with a 40 inch base and is hard to decorate without scaffolding. My previous tree was only a skinny 6 footer so I'm challenged to FILL my new tree based on my decorating philosophy of: If you can see the tree, it aint done! Sooooo. I'll take a pho-toe of it when I consider it "done" (and then I'll add more!).

I wanna see Bolt too, BBN! I can't wait! That, and the new 007.

Smidgy, great to see you around! Hope you and Nebo are doing well. Stop by more often.

NAB, hope you have fun at the party.

MOO, I still can't believe you had roofers working on Thanksgiving day!

Wendy, I am sure your tree will be totally beautiful. Waiting for pics. popcorn::

So I woke up this morning and remembered something about saying "that could be my xmas and birthday present!" What the heck was that???

Oh yeah, I emailed someone to clean my house! What was I thinking?? That's what happens if you stay up till the middle of the night without a nap!!
Yes, I changed my mind. I dont have the inclination to first clean for the cleaning lady. :rolleyes1 Luckily, I have not received a call so far, but if she does call, I will just have to tell her I changed my mind.:sad2:

The weather is crazy here at the moment, up and down. Today it's 77, Tuesday will be 60!

Too funny Marita! That's almost like buying the product off one of those late night infomercials because your brain is half-asleep so you're thinking "hey, that sounds pretty good. I really could use a steam mop to clean my hard surface floors!" and then waking the next morning wondering what you bought the night before.

LOL, Rob! Thanks for making me feel like I'm not the only late-night brain impaired person out there.
It sounded like a great idea at 2 AM!

ETA: EEK, she just called!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I didnt pick up. Boy, she has a heavy accent! I feel like a total heel!

Elvis and what's her names wedding cake recipe is 9 pages long! :scared1:

And I feel vindicated, I knew I never had German Chocolate cake in Germany. I was right, it is an American invention!!

These fascinating facts brought to you courtesy of the Food Channels "Secret Life of Food" show.

PS: I never saw a "German cockroach" in Germany either. Nor any cockroach for that matter! :confused3
Didn't meet one till I got to Florida, on my first ever trip to check out the country and meet the family before we got married. I was 17 years old!

Anyway, my first encounter was with a giant flying Palmetto bug. GIANT! FLYING! LIKE IN YOUR FACE! I jumped up on my future MIL's kitchen chair and screamed my head off! Fun for all!

Hmm, I went from secret life of cakes to roaches... Might be nap time.

PS: I highly recommend Sears "once a year" pest control, no issues with critters at all. Expensive but worth it.

SMIDGY, take note for when you finally move down here.

Wendy - Looking forward to seeing pics of your tree! I wish I could get in the mood to decorate, but it probably won't be until right before DD gets home for Christmas.

Bolt was pretty cute. We didn't watch the 3-D version, but the regular one was very well done, I thought. I stayed til the end of the credits to see if there might be anything extra, but there wasn't.

Marita - LOLing over you ditching that call :lmao: But I understand. Prepping for a cleaning lady can be a lot of work.

We were also kind of surprised about the roofers working on Thanksgiving, but the weather wasn't too bad (30s and 40s) and I imagine they needed the work before the holidays. Looks like they'll be back again for something or other because their trailer is still parked in our driveway.

Maybe it will be peaceful in the morning, though, so I can sleep in :)

Knee deep in pACKing is right. I have two suitcases DONE! I have half finished lists everywhere. I think I am on schedule. Except of course the DH- who didn't make his piles this afternoon. And of course his clothes are the biggest and the heaviest.

So far I haven't begun the kids' autograph books. I don't think it is going to happen. The little twinkertwins made their own and they are soooo excited so I guess I will let them use those even though I am sure the pages are going to rip out. But who is this trip really for anyway? me me me ;)

Wendeeeeeeeee! :flower3: pirate:

Day care mamas: how much would you charge to watch two boys (1 yr old in diapers, 3.5 yr old potty trained) for 2.5-3 hrs pr/week?

The girls made these maps today to help guide us on our trip. They did this completely from memory from the last time they went (Jan 2007). I am so impressed.

Twinkie, those maps are adorable, LOL! Have a fabulous trip! It will be cold on Tuesday and for a few days, stay warm!

So I told you all that DD announced she plans to make Xmas dinner this year , right?

OK, we know that turkey and spiral cut honey baked ham are a given. Plus she said she wants to make my mom's strawberry torte.

Today I asked her what the menu was going to be. She said, "I have no idea, I have a month to think about it".

OK!!

I already know not to offer my GBC with heavy cream and cheese. But I ventured to offer: "I got this recipe for a creamed corn casserole"..

"MOM!!!!!!!!!!! I'm not making any of your recipes!!"

Me: it's not my recipe. I got it from a friend...

DD: MOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:headache:

OK, fine, so here we go. This should be interesting popcorn:: I'll let you know what kind of low fat, no fat treats we will have for Xmas dinner.....:rolleyes1

I'm going to let her do this all on her own. Unless she asks for help, it's her ballgame! Remember, we will have around 25 people for dinner!

Never mind about appetizer recipes, not my worry anymore :cool2:

Twink - LOVE the Twinkertwins' maps and the spellun :goodvibes :tink: Too funny!

Marita - Tell your DD she doesn't exactly have a month to figure out her menu! ;) You should just plan to do a few things anyway (I probably would if it were my daughter) I'd probably be a sneaky mom and put up a countdown to Christmas in the kitchen :rotfl:

Last edited by Minnie_Moo : Yesterday at 11:59 PM. Reason: You can't be put out to pasture until the kids have their own home and host a holiday there by themselves, Marita, LOL!

Yeah well, that reallly sucks! No half pasture?
Please come to my house for dinner, but I'm not responsible for what you are served. Doesnt work so well, does it? But I am sure as heck tempted!

good morning everyone...

My dinners for over two of us always consists of five or more vegetables....My dil said once that our house was the only place she could go and get her five daily servings of vegetables or fruits.......I always laugh at that....I try to get a vegetable or an item on the menu that someone wants......hubby is on rat poisoning so he limits his green veggie intake.......I had a grandson that only wanted corn (now has tried a few other veggies too), our two little grandkids love brocolli so we always have that.....I like carrots and peas, and squash and son loves turnip....so veggies are a big part of family gatherings...

Well tomorrow is December 1st, cant believe this one year has gone so fast. Moms anniversary of her death is December 10th......we will have a gathering for that and then the family (56 people) christmas party. Rented a hall for that.....gone so fast....

Hope you all have a great Sunday and keep smiling everyone..

Forgot to add......this morning hubby is outside putting the four wheeler away for another year, and he knocks hard on the window pointing to the sky....so I jump up and look outside and there is a hot air balloon....it is a beautiful morning, sun shining....not freezing but still cold at 28 degrees.....what a beautiful site to see....hope that guy had his longjohns on......ROFL

The Nutcracker Nouveau was a big hit! The mice were so darling and stinking cute!!!!

Mal performed her little heart out! I'm a bubbling crying fool sitting there watching her. I even cry when the boys are singing at school. I'm a mess!

Sorry no pictures. One they weren't allowed and two, I forgot my camera TWICE.

Next year.

The best part was watching her interact with all of the dancers, younger and older and her showing me all of her "new best friends".

This dancing thing has really been a positive experience for her. I just wish it didn't cost so much. I cringe when thinking about me bank account when she is older and not to mention if Madelyn dances. Some of these older girls were in 5 or more dances.

TWINKS: Related kids for part time $30 per day. But it would have to be either in the morning or in the afternoon. Like between the hours of 7a-12p or 1p-6p. If it goes over 5 hours I conside it full time and then its $50 per day. If they are not related $36 per day for part time. I try to offer a sibling discount. Ask for one. I have one set price per child. I don't charge differently because of age. They all take up 1 spot.

I was looking forward to dance pictures. And I hear you on the cost. :faint: I am kind of thankful that one DD has "retired" from gymnastics. I bet she will take up dance next year.

Thanks for the info. Most people around here charge more for under 18 months and/or in diapers. I get the age thing because here a home daycare can not have more that 3 kids under 18 months so those spots are more limited thus worth more $.

I am considering adding a morning lab but have to work out child care. It looks like it won't be worth it economically. Unless I can find a non-day-care mama who is looking for a little extra $. At just 3 hrs per week this qualifies as "babysitting" so I don't need a registered provider. Just someone I trust.

I'm playing hookie from church!!! :scared1: My reason? I'm just plain lazy today!

I did manage to brush my teeth, bathe, make a dee-lux breakfast, fold laundry, AND address Christmas card envelopes, but, whew, I'm pooped after this week!
It doesn't help that it's rainy and gloomy out. I SUCK! :sad2:

Twinkie- spread the word with your mama network and I betcha there'll be someone who would love to watch your kids! Here in my ward (neighborhood) we trade babysitting a lot. Good luck!!!

:flower3: ..well, did everyone..have fun..friday.....and getting

....all "my"..presents? :santa:

...twinkle....that's jus too cute, :wizard: ..when you think you 've seen

..all the "magic"....the kids, show how much more there's really is ,

to discover! pixiedust:

soo who's the "pack~leader?"

oh, you better not skipp-y..anything on..the list, not that there's any

pressure or anything, :scared:

..well..our house...is a mess, ongoing-

therefore, finding a clean spot for the tree.., will be up to my

..lil'homemaker?

home-maker....now that's a "term" of endearments, ongoing

with a few multi-disciplines, & with lots of intrepretations.

for me..." dictatorship", comes to mind...:rolleyes1

mickey & minnie..are already..taking over the house,

:dog:

I actually accomplished something and put the tree up. Which entailed lots of sweeping and vacuuming.

I'm sure it doesn't compare to UM's but, the kids put on the ornaments and then I spaced them properly.

I even went grocery shopping in slushy snow.

And made turkey soup.

Homemade of course!

Oh and the maps are just darlng Twinks.

Hi Mooverswe put up the new ree today and went shopping again 4th day in a row...I have offically dropped lol
