WOOHOO Marita's DSThat is just awesome!! Love hearing his plans!!! What a good boy - how proud he makes everyone around him!!

oh and the screw top is the "in" thing, corks are environmentally a problem, and they let "air" in the wine, making it go bad - Australia is leading the way in the screw caps - but having a hard sale in the USA - - also France is making a big push to go screw!! or Box - some wineries (esp Aussie) are doing both bottles and boxed, and the Box is cheaper - but goog stuff!! (yes, I'm a wine-o) One winery sells wines for $16 a bottle, switched to screwcaps and sold their wine for $2.99 - and that spoiled me, I can never afford, justify a $16 but a $3 - I am there!! :cool1:

Moo :grouphug:
not sure what facebook will work out with Hasbro... something I'm sure!

BBN I've been having weird songs stuck in my head lately!

Pumba that is a goog idea - along with wendy's farts, bugs, gross stuffs

Thanks for the  Mostly, thanks for letting me VENT :headache:

hmmm listening to tv talk about gas station and atm and tin foil? :confused3 If someone is on your roof, dont be surprised if the credit card goes down?

I'm saying that thiefs are really smart! until the get caught... or the dumb ones are really funny!

Thanks, Sandy  I was even sniffeling on the phone.

I'm in for lunch in '10. What would a girls trip be without lunch????

$3 for wine? Cool!!

On a totally different topic, I finally calculated my gas mileage today. 36 MPG for my little Honda Civic. Not bad! But still, with tolls and driving 50 miles round-trip, it still costs me $10 a day just to get to work. So I guess oversleeping today, I saved that much, w00t!

My son just called.

He fnished his week in the woods. They were waiting for a bus to take them back to base. He said they were all wet and stinky. But mission accomplish, WOOHOO!

So he said something about the graduation ceremony. His sister and I get to pin his gold bars on his shoulders. I'm going to cry like a baby, and I'm afraid I'll drop the thing :scared1: I said, why not your dad? Well, apparently, they get their first salute from an enlisted man, and hubby gets to be the man (he was enlisted in the Army). And there is something involving a coin from the mint he his going to give his dad, but the exact meaning of which I didn't catch.
Also, a commissioned officer has to swear them in. So he got to pick, and chose his High School buddy who graduated just 6 weeks ago. So he is coming in from Pensacola to swear him in.

Tonight they get an introduction to the Officers club, where they have exciting things like hot dogs, hamburgers, Karaoke and BOOZE. He said that he doubted most people would be able to drink much, after having nothing for 3 months and a week in the woods. He said he would probably be snockered after 2 beers:laughing: . Anyway, he wasn't planning on drinking much, if any, and keep his nose clean (good boy). He's not much of a drinker anyway.

So that is my exciting news of the day. :woohoo:

:woohoo: Martia,,,proud momma of an Oficer...we want pictures...Im so happy for himand your family

Thanks, BH!

No worries, I plan to post pics. If I manage to get any, that is.

Still, it makes me very sad to think he will be so far from home the rest of his (or my) life. But he gets to do what he always wanted, which is to fly.

Yes and thats a good thing...not alot of people get to live there dream ... he will get leave and can fly himslf home to you:hug:..just a perk of his job as a pilot

Last edited by Bloodhound : Today at 02:32 PM. Reason: or is he a navigator????

Navigator. he can't be a pilot because he wears glasses. But still, he gets 20 hours of flight training in September, which puts him halfway toward a pilot license, so maybe later in life.

Actually, now they train them as more than Navigator to give them better chances of moving up and around, so you never know.

In today’s pool of rated Air Force officers, one finds a total of roughly 4,000 navigators. That is a relative handful, in comparison to the size of the pilot force. At present, Air Force pilots number about 12,000, or 16.3 percent of the total officer corps.
The small number of navigators belies the importance of the job. The navigator community is seen within USAF as a key force multiplier in combat operations.
Even so, senior Air Force leaders believe that navigators for many years had been prevented from reaching their full career potential. They note the paucity of navigators in top leadership ranks and the outdated nature of their training programs.

The Air Force expects not only to create a more skilled aviator but also to open the way for more navigators to reach the service’s highest leadership positions.

The Air Force expects not only to create a more skilled aviator but also to open the way for more navigators to reach the service’s highest leadership positions.

The new plan centers on development of what USAF describes as a combat systems officer, or CSO. The CSO will be a new and different breed of navigator, one with much broader up-front training, compared to his or her predecessors.

At the highest levels of the Air Force, there is recognition that the change is overdue

There is more, but I won't bore you with that. But case in point, DS had to handle missile decisions during his week in the woods and do something (not sure what) for a downed satellite.
This article was from 2005, and most of the changes should be in place by now.
And DS gets his flight training, w00t!

My son did not join the military. But, he did just discover the joys of Craig's List. He is now taking pictures of nearly everything I own.

Great! Congrats to your offspring.

Smart kid, He knows how to raise money :rotfl:

No I didnt see the show or tape it either what happened?

Comfort and Courtney were the girls in the bottom 2....Comfort went home. That's the good news. Somehow, Mark escaped being in the bottom 2! Will and Twitch were the unlucky ones this week. Will ended up going home. Can you believe it? No way should Mark still be there!

So please vote....goody bags or no goody bags. [/COLOR][/B] I've got to get it together today.

Melinda, I vote FOR goody bags (although I despise them, they really have become de rigueur). Fill them with stuff from the dollar store or the craft store. School supplies like funky erasers, pencils, notebooks, plus temporary tattoos, sugar-free bubblegum or nut-free candy like gummy worms.

wow new 911 tapes out for that poor 2yr dd Caylee Anthony - just wow... sad.

Oh, Sandy! I was absolutely transfixed by that story on the news while we were at WDW last week! That poor little girl!

Marita, great news about your son! He must really be looking forward to his graduation.

Moo, sorry to hear about your sister's dad.

Hey to everyone else! Today was the first rain-free day in a week! The kids were finally able to use the pool, which was great except for the fact that the water is now freezing. Good thing the kids don't care.

Did you know the gummy worms are not nut-free....Read the package some time. I wanted to get gummy hearts for Valentine's Day for school. I couldn't. There is a warning on the package. I think it has to do with nuts also being in the same factory but I could be wrong. I just got heck for sending Fudgee O cookies in Nicholas lunch for camp. Because there maybe traces of peanuts....

My new washer is not working right and have to have a service guy come out already...:sad2: The water valve is stuck or something and the water doesn't turn off unless I turn the shut off valves off. I knew they had a longer cycle too but it seems to be extra long to me. I will have to ask about that too.

Moo-- sorry to hear about you sister's dad.

Marita-- :woohoo: on your son surviving the woods. Sounds like it is going to be a emotional graduation. How proud you must be!

Lynette --this is the first day of no rain too in over a week . It is nice to get the kids outside again.

W.T's -- what is he saving up for....

1. There is a brand that is nut-free. I buy it at my local grocery, but I'm pretty sure it's a national brand. I was only made aware of it because one of my cousins has a 3 y.o. son with a nut allergy. He attends all our parties, so I have to be careful what I buy.

2. My kids sooooo needed a day of running around in the yard! I "invited" them to take Mojo out and keep him busy while I swept and washed the floors. With that plus their time in the pool, they'll sleep well tonight!

I only check out labels if I send it to school. Some things you never think would have nuts or traces of. Thank goodness my kids don't have allergies. My niece and nephew have a nut allergy though. And BIL has an allergy to peas. I didn't believe him at first, though he just didn't want to eat vegetables.

I have been busy cleaning today too. Going to my mom's for the weekend and hate leaving a messy house.

I know! Even chocolate morsels (the ones you use to make cookies and such) all have traces of nuts! So annoying! Thankfully, neither of my kids has nut allergies, but it makes things difficult for parties and school activities, doesn't it?

Thanks for all the great ideas!

I caved to goody bag mania. I took Wendy's suggestion and got some gack called "fish ooze". I am certain it will be a big hit although I wish I knew where Disney gets the sticky eyeballs they give away on the pirate cruises.

I am also throwing some candy and gum in the bag. I am using lunch sacks and hole punching the top and tying them with a ribbon (uncurled in a boyish color). I did love your idea about the buckets, Cel, and it makes perfect sense but when did lil boys do anything that made sense. I also loved the one-big-candy-bar idea, Twink. And if I'd read it earlier I may have been able to highjack some labels from DH office but alas I couldn't.

I am also sooooo lazy that I am letting the rat provide the cake although it's not included in the price. Anymore. Although it used to be.

Including my lil man I have 6 boys so that covers my deposit. Sandy...I hope we don't have your dilemma.

Thanks again....wish me luck. If only Martha-Lynette Stewart were here to help.
