The last 3 days have been punishment because I kept saying how much I wish we could always have a hurricane going up the coast by us. (our weather was AMAZING because of it)

But now it's been cloudy and rainy for 3 days. :( I'm going crazy.

I agree, Pumba - it's SO hard to be without power! I hate when we lose ours even for a short time.

Marita - I am very ready for a day off!!! Haven't been able to telecommute for quite a while and I miss having time at home. The weekends are just too short!

MommyP - I feel for you! I've been trying to get to the beach for the past month and every time the weekend rolls around we either have crappy, rainy weather or I have other plans :( Hoping for a last hurrah this weekend and am able to have a beach day :goodvibes It has already started getting chilly at night here.

Well a long weekend ahead. Last ditch to get ready for school. Today we went to the school to see what teacher Hannah will have. They post it on the window. She is excited about the other classmates she has in her class. They changed up all the teachers grades that they teach. :confused3

Our cross border shopping was fun and tiring. Hannah got alot of clothes for school . Anything shiny was her thing this year. Nicholas got a few things as well. I told hubby that every time we go shopping it is for the kids. What will we shop for when they are gone. Every store I went in we headed for the kids section.

Have to remember to pick up Nicholas uniform pants tomorrow because they will be closed Sunday and Monday and he needs them for Tuesday. I sent them out to get hemmed. I had not time to do it myself.

So what is everyone doing for the long weekend...it is really humid here and foggy out there right now.

Very hot and humid here today as well, Nabbie! Sounds like you're making good progress with the back-to-school shopping.

I had the day off work today and was able to get to the beach for a while this evening. My sister went with me and we did a little wine tasting on our way this afternoon. I was bummed that I didn't find any beach glass today, but I picked up a few pretty stones.

It sure felt like a really long drive home though . . . we had the convertible top down part of the way, but I just was feeling too damp, so we ended up putting it up about half way home. Relaxing with a glass of wine now :thumbsup2

I had a hard time starting my car after dropping my sister off, so I'm probably going to have to get a new battery tomorrow :(

morning..
Blow this rainy stuff away..
We want to take a good portion of our stuff over and cant do that in the drizzle..
Last night our neighborhood area...some idiot girl was screaming at her idiot boyfriend ...woke up the neighborhood..this was at 2 am...now we have had a relatively quiet summer.....so my neighbor sonia said it was our send off..
Hope the rain stops..
have a good Labor day weekend my friends.....and if I dont have internet during the day time...when we come back to this house...I will get on and check my emails and my MOOVERS..
Time Warner cant do the switchover yet

hi gang!

gotta "bee" sneaky, the lil'sweetie is on a cleaning binge, & whoever
she catches..are put to work-:rolleyes1,

we're gettting ready to cruise , well @ least i am thinking about it.

want to share some positive things. what made me feel good about
putting that idiot in his proper place-jail. well i set out a motion
sensor camera. just in one week, it took almost 100 pictures.

[ raccoon, many deer, snakes, squirrels, skunk, turkey & even a
bunny]. this is just a small area, but it showed how important
an wildlife area can be.

then @ work, sometimes you don't realized how important "you are"
until something happen. we had this mean, drug seeking , abuser.
he was trying to get more drugs & escaped legal charges from beating
a person in his town. he was verbal abusing the other rn [female}
so i had to redirect. he responded by unleashing his abuse toward
me. however, he made the mistake of doing it in front of the
other pts.. we almost had a near riot.{ if you was there, & saw how
he was, it would be self evident.} we had to get security in order
to protect him. of course, he threaten them. the next day, the staff
told us , all the pts. got together and made "it clear" to him that they
won't tolerate his abuse to the staff [ us] liked that again. funny, he
has changed completely. it's called peer pressure ,and it can help prevent
dangerous acting out when some have low-self control.

* note, this is a person who thinks he has the right to physical harm
others, and is willing to do it, in order to get drugs. a few years ago,
they accepted a similar person. he made a shank & attempted to
killed all of us ..not to escape but to get drugs. i was the only male
staff & we had to disarmed him. the chief lost his job.

fyi, our job is high risk, in an area most cannot imagined. the system
is faulted and there are dangerous persons taking advantage.
in this situation, the pts. saw the threat and they were impressive how
protective they were of the staff. however, this situation should have
been addressed by those in the authority positions because without
proper followup, the person will resume hurting others. but for us, we
were amazed how the ward "rally" around the health-care providers,
illustrating they valued our services.

oh, ohio law, are wanting to changed nursing programs. i guess they
are realizing there's a big gap in today nurses & the past. trust me,
many programs are "failing" in too many critical areas. there isn't any
excuse, not being able to get the basics right.

hope everyone here's healthy! things are going great for us. did
i mentioned i can retire any time i want? :yay:

so who's watching football?

Pumba, yikes on not having a computer during the day, I would go crazy. Then again, I guess it's good, you can get stuff done, Im sure you have lots to do.

Lil G, glad things are going good for you and yay for the patients coming for your defense and a possible cruise.
Technically, I could retire too from Disney anytime, but of course at the cost of pay me now vs. later and no SS yet. Plus I havent figured out yet what I want to do when I grow up

Moo, hoper you got your battery.

Nab, hope to see you back here soon after scurrying off with the hubby again, LOL

Have a great weekend all!

Pumba-- hope the rain stopped for you to do more moving.

Humid again today , threatened rain earlier but didn't get any now back to sunny skies.

My niece moved in to her University dorm yesterday. My mom went along to see her room. Coming out of her building my mom fell on the steps. They thought she broke her knee, that was ok but her wrist was not. I just say thank God it was not her hip. So now she will be in a cast for a month and be sore all over. I told my sisters who was there also, that was one of my fears when she goes on vacation with us. Falling and breaking something.

Lil'G-- no football here or at least not for me. Nicholas wants to play in high school but really don't know much about other then you get tackled.

Marita-- I really miss when I don't have the computer too. It is the first thing I usually turn on in the morning if I am home. It is hard when I go to either parents because neither have internet. It is not there thing they say.

Moo-- hope your car is back up and running well. My fan belt is screaming lately very embarrassing but he dealer ship just sprays it with something and it will stop for a day or two. He says the belt is fine.

Nabbie - Sorry to hear about your mom's injury :grouphug: Ouch!

I had an e-mail from my friend yesterday saying that she had made it through her surgery OK and there was no cancer in her lymph nodes. I was very happy to hear that. Now she needs to make it through radiation :goodvibes I think I'll probably go visit her in October after our cruise is paid off so we can finish our trip planning and figure out if we want to do an excursion while in Nassau. I see that Castaway Cay had a bit of damage from the hurricane. Looks like they repaired some of the damage but a lot of the foliage on the island is brown doe to the salt water. People on the DCL boards are saying that it will likely take more than six months for things to look better  I wonder if they'll do some plantings before our cruise??!

Well, I finally had my car battery replaced today. I ended up just relaxing at home yesterday. The guy had a hard time with the replacement and dropped a bolt while he was working. He and my hubby looked around for it but weren't able to find it so he had to go into the store and get a replacement bolt. Hopefully it didn't land somewhere where it will cause a problem!

Lil G - No football for me

Nab, yikes about your mom, hope she heals fast!

Moo, good news about your friend, I think?
I'm sure DIsney will make Castaway Cay presentable, don't worry.

Not much to report here, lazy day. Gotta get my bum in gear tomorrow though, laundry and housework  And cooking, whatever possed me to volunteer for that tomorrow? Making pork tenderloin with german potato dumplings and beets (cause the stupid store had no red cabbage!) And I have to get wine and buy some shorts for me and hubby for a beach wedding this weekend. And have to find a wedding present!!!
Oye VAY!!!

Marita-- What are you cooking for? German potato dumplings sounds interesting.

Moo-- So happy about your friend. Hope the rest goes well for her. We have been to Castaway Cay after a hurricane before it wasn't too bad and they have a lot of time to clean up before we get there. Just as long as the weather holds up when we go and they can dock. But we get two chances at that.

Pumba-- did you get moved in....

Well this is the last day before the kids go back to school. One is totally ready has been for a month I would say the other doesn't even have a pencil case out or paper in a binder. :sad2: All I can say is Xbox is going off very early tonight. Maybe not even after supper if he gives me grief today.

Nothing is open here because of Labour Day, no mail, nothing so I promised the kids I would make chocolate chip cookies for there lunches.

Nab, just cooking for hubby and me, nothing special.
It is now noon and I haven't done a darn thing yet! This is not boding well..... I think I may have adjust my strategy and postpone shopping till after dinner, since hubby has to eat before 4 so he can get to bed at 5.

All the stores are open here. Canada sounds like Germany, nothing is open there on SUndays and holiday but the bars, LOL.

Have a great day everyone.

Well I got my cookies made but that is about it.

The kids are lounging around watching TV and the new talk shows don't come back unitl tomorrow.

Marita-- we do have stores open on Sunday but that has really not been for that long, 10 years or so maybe. I used to love that your stores were open on Sundays. The best we could do was flea markets for Sunday shopping. Now they even have a few banks experimenting with Sunday hours. But when a holiday rolls around everything is closed right up unless it is as tourist area.

The sun isn't even out today so it is really dreay out there. Think I will just go lay on my bed and read. The kids don't need to be feed for a few hours and even then they will probably snack all day. My work comes after dinner, baths , book bags packed and trying to get them to go to bed.

So the high school student is out and on the bus at 7:30 now to get the second one to school. I forgot to get his picture in his uniform this morning.

Hannah is bathed and getting dressed. This is really early for her she usually only gets out of bed at 8:00 but has been up since 6 with her brother. Hopefully everyone will have no problem going to bed tonight.

Hubby is off today so I am sure we will be out and about doing what I have know idea. He worked all weekend so this is his weekend.

It is cold out there this morning too, haven't had a cold first day back to school in a long time. Kids need sweaters.

Well three in a row , why not....

Kids made it though there first day of school. Heck Hannah even had homework. Grade 6 is going to be tough I think.

Nicholas is really tired. He came home with a headache but he didn't eat all day or drink and he played dodge ball in gym class for 75 mins. So he was really dehydrated too. Hope he learned his lesson and eats tomorrow. He did say he loved High School but it is the first day after all.

Hubby took tme to the casino today, didnt' win nothing but I was only down $10.00 so not too bad. I cashed out and watched. Then he had me looking at new cell phones. I must be the only person not interesting in these things. I told him just to pick one for me show me how to use it and I will be fine. I only use it for emergencies when driving or if the school and kids need me. I don't even know my number. :lmao:

Nabbie - Yay for the new school year!!! BIGGEST LOSER is only two weeks away!!!!!!!!!!!

My niece just started high school today too.

You should get a smartphone so you can Dis while you're visiting you family ;)

Brrr, it was really cold here today as well. Guess I'm going to have to pull out the long pants for tomorrow after wearing capris all summer, LOL :lmao: I wore my jean capris and a sweater with 3/4 length sleeves today and was a tad chilly.

Going back to work after a four-day weekend was rough :headache: At least I got my beach day in.

Then he had me looking at new cell phones. I must be the only person not interesting in these things. I told him just to pick one for me show me how to use it and I will be fine. I only use it for emergencies when driving or if the school and kids need me. I don't even know my number. :lmao:

Nab, I'm the same way, never use my cell phone, which DS calls "1 step up from rotary", LOL. I really dont call anyone and just want it in case of emergency. I really want a smart phone, but I can't justify the cost, I'm too cheap, LOL.

Nothing to report here, still boring as heck at work...

I agree with nothing on TV, and I'm even bored with the DIS. I might go to bed by 10 tonight since I couldn't sleep last night till after 2am and then the alarm went off at 6:30, yikes!!

Get posting Marita....

I hear you on 6:30 am alarm. I used to get up at 7:30 but this one hour difference is really knocking me on my butt. Have to get Nicholas up. He sleeps right though his alarm or just shuts it off and doesn't get up. Hannah doesn't have to be up until 8 but she has been up too because Nicholas is noisy and turns on all the lights waking her up.

Still no phone even though we were out and about again today. Did pick up renewel forms for our passports. They are up in Nov.

Marita I said start posting not don't post. :lmao:

Another dreary day here again and cool. Make me want to go back to bed. Actually Hannah is feeling the pain of getting up early these last few days. This morning she didn't want to get up and that isn't her. To bed early tonight.

Then hubby came home from work sick this morning. He made it though his shift but said he should have came home. Hope it isn't catchy. We are all tired.

Nicholas joined the football team, not sure how I feel about it, I know nothing about football. I think he said he was going to be a line backer, heard the term before but have know idea what he does. :confused3 Haven't found out how much this sport is going to cost either.

Pumba-- Hope you are busy settling in to your new house with no more problems.

Pretty dreary here as well, Nabbie :( I finally broke down and wore long pants to work today!

Even though I was in marching band all through high school and had to attend all of the home football games, I didn't learn much about football until my nephew played in high school (and even once I learned a bit, it just reinforced how much I didn't care for the game) The only thing I liked was seeing someone I knew well (i.e., my nephew) make some good plays. I didn't like the injury potential at all or the training during really hot weather - I worried a lot about that when my nephew was playing.

Basketball was MUCH less worrisome!
