morning........snowed last night and it is very clean looking.(well for a little while at least)......
hubby fixed the dryer vent with a stainless steel thingie that takes the lint trap out to the vent ....catch my drift??? hubby being a master electrician most of his life ....fears of electricial fires and dryer fires........he has seen alot of those...
I just got a call from my dil's cell phone and I said.....hello..where are you and she said on the side of a road in Durham and she had slid off the road and hit a telephone pole......before I could scream are you alright...she said she is okey and so are the kids....then she had to hang up because our son had just arrived where she was.....scared me to death you know......so I sit here waiting for an update and see what is going on...I am of course wondering and worrying.....

Yesterday we deChristmas'ed our house too......but hopefully the feelings of love and family and friends last another year with everyone...I do LOVE that feeling when everyone is sweet, and polite and loving to everyone....

Twinkie - It's never too early for a nap when your faaar along. :o) I took my tree down yesterday, but all my other Christmas decorations are still up. I'll get to them eventually.

Nab - Weren't you just saying how warm and green it was? lol

I am SO thankful to finally have the AC off for 4 days in a row, we should get fresh air tonmorrow too because we have to crank the AC back on for a couple days before the next front comes down.(If it makes it)

My sister(and her DH and Little John) and brother are in Kansas right now. They went to Co. for Christmas and stopped in Kansas for a week to visit friends. Supposed to be a big storm coming on Wednesday though, so hopefully all will be clear for them to leave(driving) on Friday.

I am DYING for Jan. 5th to get here. That's when the IRS is releasing 2009 Earned Income. I'm anxious to find out our refund amount.

MommyP: forgot to tell you how cute the baby girls were! love their little angelic faces.

Lynt: i hope you have many more days with gma too. i guess you inherited her "low end of tall" stature from her. heh

Twink: it is indeed a small world. in fact, i do believe we are married to the same man. whowuddathunkit?

LilG: hope everything goes smoothly with the vacation.

pumba: i love that feeling too. i wish it lasted all year long with the general public

moo: so sorry Mari is leaving.

nab: sounds like you had a nice relaxing day! i need one of those.

everybody else who posted:

Twinkie - I forgot this part...no I did not make the dresses. That is WAY above my level of sewing. lol.

Thanks everyone for all the kind words about the girls. We think they are beautiful too. :)

Allie - Thanks for the cute card. I can't get over how TALL your son is! And your DD is just beautiful :)

Moo - You are most welcome! I really wish I could have sent a video of the photo taking process. :rolleyes1 If you remember a while back my FB status said I wanted to borrow someone else's children for my Christmas cards. :rotfl2::rotfl2: Let's just say those were taken after a stern talk from me AND their dad, and tears were shed by all. Next year, I will just make them cry and then they will produce goog pictures. :lmao: I had one with the car locking Trixie in it, and I sent it to one Moover (Melinda, I think ;)), but I ran out of them for everyone else.

MommyP - I concur with everyone else. Two cutie pies! :cutie: Glad Ellie is filling out to your liking. ;) I know you were worried about her for a while.

Twinks - I can relate. I have LOTS of Hallmark ornaments that have their original bubble wrap and plastic holding cases that go inside their original boxes. I like to do it by myself! DD did help get them off the tree, but I pack them up. Got everything loaded back up last night. Whew! It was exhausting for me, and I'm not any far along. :rotfl2: How much longer, BTW?

pumba
- YIKES!!!:scared1: How scary! Glad everyone was ok. I have a friend on the WISH board who did that in NC. She had to go to the ER and have her ribs checked because she thought they were cracked. Not cracked, but badly bruised, and I think she is running in Disney next weekend. OUCH!!

Lexi
- I thought you were saying you were moving, then I realized you were talking about the thread. :headache::rotfl2: Add me to the list of folks that are glad to see you around. ::yes::

..twinkle, very funny....( when we met this guide....

we spent over a half-day, going over these points. crt...taught
us well..how tough a disney vacation could be,(willis-what's you
talking about...sold out in less than a minute!) we lost our first
2 days....in 2002 , just figuring out....how to call for a crt table.

..no more! esp....with blt. ever since....i have been reading over @
the dvc...boards....& it is pretty darn evident....there's alot people
trying to "work"...the system.

blt's points costed more than any other..., so what i have been
reading....others...are just getting little contacts..of 25/50 points,
as to get their "foot in the door", than using their other points....
to finished their revs...@ 7mos.. all we care about, is to be able to
used our points when we call @ the 7 mos, & not having to be
on line....all morning long or calling 1/2 hr. before they opened.
and we s-p-e-l-l this expectation out. over & over. [ mostly
because..we knew..this" fact..effects us, as we can't take vacation
...anytime we want. ]

like i told the guide..what if the day..we want to begin..is the same day
that all the rest..are trying to get. he said no problem...well, it better
be. he better have not been lying. we don't have time for games.

the dvc cruise..booking..did not go well. i got up & my wife..had been
on hold....2 hrs., so i called. now the cruise may not be the same,
but it better not be!

all of this..is sorta funny..since..we haven't been yet.

We went to our son;s and dil's while they went back to the tow company to get their belongings out of the car. The car is a total loss.....I am so happy though that my son and dil are very very anal about the car seats for the kiddos......they went to the fire station and learned how to put the car seats in properly and also how to adjust the 5 point harness on both of the kids. She and my son both make sure that they are in those suckers close.. They didnt even move in their seats. DIL is very sore now, because she knew what was happening and probably tightened her self up......SON and she are looking on line at the dealerships to see what they will buy. One that is a safe care for sure.

Pumba - I'm so happy to hear that your family is OK :grouphug: I didn't realize there was a Durham in Maine! My daughter lives near Durham, North Carolina.

Mari just texted to say she had made it home safely, thank goodness! A 14 hour drive home. Let's hope she never has another one of those 27 hour holiday drives to or from Michigan again :headache:

Allie - Now that you mention it, I do recall you saying that picture time was not very fun. We didn't get any Christmas photos this year. No one seemed to have their cameras handy :confused3

Lil G - You get to call at the 11 month window when you own where you want to stay. The 7 month window is for staying at other DVC resorts. So you will need to make your 2010 Christmas vacation reservations in less than a month.

Twink - I did much better with eating lower carb today. It sure helps reduce the cravings. I even avoided the breakfast potluck at work because I figured it'd be a donut fest (and I was right, there were several left over)!

bbn - How goes the baby business? Full moon is coming up ;)

Lynette - I may just have to have my own personal Depp movie marathon on New Year's Day :)

Lexi, great to see you check in!

Regarding grandmothers/mothers in asst living facilities, my mom seems sooo much better now with company around rather than sitting home all day alone (even though people would check in).

Lilg G, good luck on your vacation plans, I don;t think I would want to tangle with you. :scared1:

Pumba, scary about the accident, especially after reading the car was a total loss! Glad everyone is ok!

Moo, yay for Mari getting home safely!

MommyP, Sandy, BBN, Twinkie, happy to see you posting again!

I have removed miscellanous xmas decorations, but the tree is still up and most likely will be through the weekend......
And yes that was me last year who had the tree up till February

Still trying to find my way around the new job

It's been really cold the last few days here, almost freezing. Tomorrow is finally supposed to go back to 71, but then right back to high of 60 next week. I could have used gloves today even.

Guess I better go eat some dinner.....

Marita The accuweather forecast is making it hard for me to wrap my brain around WTH to pack!! :rotfl2: I have the $1 stretchy gloves (Target) but a hat? pants? shorts? pool time?

Lil G The holidays are the busiest times - 11 month window - Boardwalk and Beach Club are also hard to get during Food and Wine time!! (and if you have extra points - maybe I should sign up to rent them from ya! ;) SO so so hoping DH's job works out and we can go back for the '11 Marathon!) Goog Luck Lil G - it sounds so magical - BLT at Christmas!!

We're staying in a studio at Beach Club - but I think with DD around, I think we're going to want a 1 Bedroom!!! Budget Trip, budget trip (I hate NOT having money!!)

IMG_2070-1.jpg

Doncha just luv our new puppY? I cant believe how lucky I am - he's a Cardigan Corgi ( the Queen of England has Pembroke Welsh Corgi's) He looks like a Beagle with ears that stick out like Yoda from Star wars! :rotfl2:

I heard that Disney is going to close areas of Hollywood Studios (backlot tour in that area - the "Honey, I Shrunk the Kids" Movie Set Adventure, Studio Catering Co. restaurant, and the Studio Backlot Tour will be closed for refurbishment February 15 through March 27, 2010.

Jan 12 the crane comes in and the moat is drained in front of the Castle - I'll get all my pictures before then..

I pray I make it thru the Half - I'm having a panic attack - bursting into tears, or just tearing up thinking of NOT finishing!!

Marita we had a taste of Germany for Christmas!! DS got a German Hand Blown Glass Boot!!

Here's the medal I'm going for in a week from Saturday (the Donald)

Pumba-- How scary that must have been. I too am glad everyone is ok.

Moo -- I live in Durham region , so when she said Durham it sounded funny to me too. Glad Mari is safely back home. I am sure she and your hubby will remember this Christmas. Yay for staying on your diet. Your doing so well , very proud of you. It still takes a lot of will power doesn't it.

Marita-- it is freezing here too. I was saying to hubby I want to live somewhere warm. I am getting old. Maybe I will be a snowbird and fly down there for 6 months out of the year like other Canadians.

Hubby and Nicholas went to see the new Sherlock movie. Hannah wasn't interested so I will have to catch it on DVD. I am letting her stay up late since they went to the 10:00 show. She has been doing crafts all day. I got a new cross stitch for Christmas so I started it tonight. Three hours later it doesn't look like I did much. :lmao:

Nab, come on down, we love us some Canadian snowbirds!!!!!!!!1

DS says that Montana ar 4 degrees doesnt felel all that cold. He blaims it on the humidity in Florida

Sandy, cute dog (and DD)

Must go to bed now ...........

Nab, we could have an area down south for us Northerners too....and all of us moovers together. We could get our own CELEBRATION....It is wicked cold here too. Last night with the wind chill and the already low readings we were well under ten below zero...SO hubby drove us down to the Italian restaurant and I jumped out and got a bucket of spaghetti, sauce on the side, and five meatballs and a loaf of their italian bread....I was good and had my one cup of pasta and meatball with a wee bit of sauce. I did sneak in a few pieces of the italian bread that was still warm out of the oven...Since becoming a diabetic, the biggest loss was my pasta love. One lousy cup is not alot, but I will do it. Then I had to figure out that the sauce was also high in carbs. AND THEN MY bread.....oy oy oy...But this morning I had a pretty good BS results. I am a happy diabetic.
MEGARA just went out again to go pee and holds her little paws up because she is so cold. She is a summer doggie too....HMMMM she would be a snowbird too.....
In my experience with nursing homes vs. Assisted living areas. Alot of researching goes into this procedure. My mama went to a rehab first and then when they discovered that she could not go home, she was put in the nursing home area. Now we figured out that the rehab was one of the best in the state. BUT their nursing home area was horrible. My mom was abused by other "IMMATES"...she was terrified. So within a month my brother and myself got her into another nursing home facility. This was the best thing for my mama. Activities every day ....morning and afternoon...Activity room so they could all sit together and visit or veg if they wanted to....it was the best place. Now my MIL went to an assisted living facility with just woman. It was without a doubt the best place we had ever seen. She didnt have to do a thing. Nothing..everything was done for her. She stayed there until she was going to be to much to care for and died at the hospital before we could get her into the nursing home with my mom....I think back on these years as I would always say....I am so tired.....I wish I could put my jammies on and not go to the nursing home or the assisted living home. We were alternating nights ....visiting my mom one night and then hubbies mom the next night....But we didnt want these wonderful moms to ever be alone .....and they werent...So I sit here sniffling because I miss them so much.......it will be three years in May for mil and four years in June for my dear sister and its been two years for my mama...time sure does march on...
Have a good humpday my friends

GOOD MORNING!

Went out with the girls last night.

Saw "It's Complicated" which was funny and geared towards moms my age. So I liked it a lot. Then drinks after.

Twink! No way on the assisted living coincident! I thought you were going to say someone recognized your kids from the DIS. Heh. It's a small world...without the creepy dolls.

Sandy! Cute dog (and daughter). I love Corgis and they are really good dogs. I always thought they looked part rabbit but I think Yoda really hits the nail on the head. Good luck in the half marathon!

MP
...Let's not talk taxes. I'm worried this year since I don't have the mortgage interest deduction! If I do get a refund I might get a new TV. I'm keeping my eye out.

Pumba....I'd like some snow please. re: assisted living. We are very lucky. My grandmother is in a brand new facility. She has a swanky little efficiency apartment with a bath. The whole place is nicely decorated with a dining room with fireplace, workout room, library, beauty shop, etc. It even smells really good in there. I would move there in a second.

Marita....Is 60 cold? Cuz if it is, bring on the cold weather!!!

NAB....What did the boys say about Sherlock Holmes. I like Robert Downey Jr. so it looks realllly good to me.

Lil G....Goog luck with your room situation!

Moo.....I know how you feel about Mari leaving. Mimi lives in town but I never get to spend time with her....read: she never comes over for more than an hour at a time. I was so happy to spend 2 days with her at my mom's house. I miss her. :sad1:

EVERYBODY.....:wave2:

Where's Cel? Does anybody ever hear from Wendy?

HAVE A GREAT DAY!

GOOD AFTERMOON

Its getting serious now people! 7 days and we're in the air to DISNEY :cool1:

Marita the weather site says its in the 70's today and tomorrow, then its going to get cold - let me be obsessive and keep posting about the weather! :sad2:

Lexi, Moo Honestly - that's the hardest to realize - once they go to college they slowly become so independent... and then you realize, they dont come home - not even for summer break... they flew the nest and I didnt even know it!! I'm glad DS#1 plans on spending the night here every Christmas Eve. It was nice they ALL spent the day here.

taxes? :faint: I cant wrap my brain around that - with dh out of work for 4 months - but earning a bit here and there (I think he was able to collect 3 - 4 weeks of unemployment) I sure hope we arent going to owe! (he always had more than enough taken out of his paycheck, but once he became "independent" we needed every bit of the cash - nothing saved!)

 All

I'm headed to the Chiropractor (friend of DS#1 he's not going to charge us - he even offered to make a housecall!! :rotfl:) Hope it will fix the hip enough to get me to the finish line in :gulp: NINE DAYS!

:scratchin....so far, that's sums up this whole dvc stuff. thank goodness,

..i made my wife....in charge..of doing this. if i have to get involve..then
it's because .....we're lied too.

* well it doesn't matter the type of relationship we're talking about...
[ personal, business, or social] once a person is dishonest...there
will be no trust....& without trust...the relationship is over.

..from the boards..one can read....about lil'shysters....like walking
a reservation, checking in....late @ another location so they can
be the first...to "request/change their primary rooms..so forth. i
think..the first person to arrived...@ blt..was another owner,
where they..."we after" being the first...blt guest..for some kind
of basket. [ i think it was disney intention to recognized..the first
owner stays, which did not happened.] don't you just hate it when
experienced wdw guests manipulate the idea..behind the magic?

* while i don't have alot insights toward dvc, i did know...my own
situation.....@ work. to me, it doesn't make...sense..to pay all this
money..for a room & then be required to jump thru the "crt"
hoops... type of situations.

...overall, from what i have seen..disney people are aware of these
types...& they closed the loopholes....when they come across them.
however, my concern...blt is new....& this will be the first full year..
for christmas..2110, sooooo we don't want sorry, next time....

...just my personal observations..the are better/positive reasons,
for doing things right...even if others are not. under oath, the officer
that arrested me...made the following statements....." dan couldn't been
more cooperative.....he asked why ?.....and i couldn't give him an answer,
nor anyone else there...except that's what "we"..were ordered to do.
this should have never happened. " he was their witness....

....now the person we finally figured out that was behind this?...his
wife just divorced him. my oh, my..the worm has turned?

Lil'g --:hug:Hope everything works out for you. It seems awful stressful.

Pumba-- We are warmer today if you can call -2 warmer. Better then minus 13 with a wind chill factor.

Marita-- at your temps. when you think it is cold it is just nice for us....:lmao:But I really don't like your summers.

Mony -- thanks for the Christmas letter. You have such a great family and a busy lifestyle.

Celery -- Got your card too today. Very nice thanks for thinking of me too.

P.J-- I got yours too!:goodvibes

It is actually nice getting cards after, they were nice surprises in the mail.

Lex-- both like the movie!

Do you every have one of those days you start one thing and it snow balls. Today I was putting away some of Hannah's Christmas stuff and I ended up cleaning out all her toys, she has so many little containers etc. So I went and bought her bigger ones so she can fill them up. Have to label them so the right things get in the right one.... at least that is what I am hoping. :lmao:

Sandy - Loved seeing the photo of your new dog and DD! We had a Pembroke Welsh corgi and he was a pretty good dog, but got rather crotchety as he aged. Our current dogs are half corgi and half Yorkie. Jasper looks and acts more like a corgi and we think Sukie looks and acts more like a Yorkie!!! Hope your hip feels better soon

Lex - I know what you mean about seeing our DDs less and less as they get older and more independent. Mari and I saw It's Complicated last week and I really enjoyed it. Much more so than Sherlock Holmes, but I didn't mind seeing the fight scene where Robert Downey Jr. had his shirt off :rolleyes1 Nice muscles!

Marita - Sounds like your son is adjusting well to the cold! We only feel sorry for you when it's super hot and humid down there!!! It's pretty chilly here today, but then I'm running in and out of the house tonight trying to fill up the hot tub, which loses water over time from condensation and what sloshes out when we get out of it. I have to add some water so it is deep enough to do my water exercises without freezing :scared1:

Nabbie - I've been trying to organize my bedroom, so I hear you on the snowballing projects. I'm SO happy to have a long weekend again :) I sure haven't had much willpower today again :sad2: A little bit of carbs leads to a LOT. Yikes.

I did make some turkey rice soup to take into the office and it was all gone by the end of the day. We had way too much turkey left over, so that was a good way to share the wealth without us having to eat it for the next week.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CAoi_-_EVio

Love the sound of this, just makes me want to dance, but in the words of Pumba, the lyrics are "oy, oy, oy", LoL
I never listen to music stations, but one of my alarms plays it VERY LOUD int the mornings.

My mom is thriving in her nursing home, and recovered a lot from the way she was livng on her own, even with daily visitors. I think the company helps a lot. For sure its important to get a good one.

One more day of work here, im ready to be off. Get to go home at 3 tomorrow woohoo!

Sandy, hope your hip feels better, would suck to miss the race after all this time, but HEY, it least you will be at Disney!

I maintain that 60 is cold, at least to me, my blood has thinned, so there! I could have used gloves yesterday even. Better now, but cold again on Monday.

Regarding empty nester kids, I talk to my son in Montana way more than my daughter who lives 10 minutes away and hardly ever comes over :confused3

Time to call it a night!

If you are not arround tomorrow, I hope you have a great New Year!

you think? nabby girl....ahhh, but in reality,..very ,very
small problems, compared to many. [ i guess iam not a worrier].

..it's hard..to feel depress..when all your dreams have come true,

but your comment made me stop & take pause...of the 3 things

..that scared me the most....or saddest. #1..all time, was during
our second..childbirth...when i realized..there was no doctor &
the rn was way-over her head. [nursery rn vs labor room] ...
& both my wife/child were in a crises where death was most likely.
...[ her scream..came from her soul...& there are no words...to
described..,everyone nearby was effected.] yet, she made that
special delivery....& prevented any brain damage.

* and this..is why..it's very important....to give her any dream....
she desire.

secondly, was during the amino. with our daughter...& the dr. missed
his marked..& hit the placenta. i saw that 2 feet long needle...
filled with blood in a second! lucky, lucky...blessing. * note, the dr.
made my wife promised not to tell me...the lab. lost the fluids.
[ he was so angered..that he fired them on the spot.....thank god,
.....he kept...a little ...because i made the comment , "you better not
lose it"!

isn't that a stranger than fiction story?

thirdly...was when my mother died. :sad1:. the very last time..i saw her alive,
she had insisted walking me out. i could see her in my review mirror...
waving & smiling,

* that was after reserve duty, but the weekend before..i had the kids
down..and she insisted .."punching holes"...in their baby food jars,
so they could "catch"..lighting bugs.

..so these little things..are just that. annoyances, nothing more. but
just wanted to shared...because.....if there's one thing i seen in
life experiences..when one chose the right ways, even over the easy
ways....9/10 x.....leads to bigger/better things.

wonders -over flowing- life, yep....there's no way..i can ever complain.
....what i discover....one doesn't need the whole world..to love them,
just a few, caring persons that really like you for being you.

backie?..a friend...just flew back from disney world. she said it was really
cold..& the first time looking for gloves..in orlando, :cold: wow-hoot!

...& she said..mgm...was @ capacity...mgm, :scared1:

as for stress..nabby....you need to talk..to babynurse, those nurses
never....have it easy...hint~there's no such thing..as a "normal
delivery"....

oh..don't think..i haven't been accurate....if you ever get to meet
my wife, you'll see..she is a saint- :littleangel:, me?..where did
you think..she came up with my call name...lil'grumpy.

..anyone else wondering if mp..spoiling her lil' princess:

..& if you can't be what you want..then be happy! :wizard:
