No school here AGAIN! They let out 3 hours early yesterday due to ice storm warnings which actually turned out to be not much of a storm and now just 34 and raining. Uggg....the kids will be going to school to June!

My birthday and Tim's are 4 weeks apart to the day. I always thought that was neat.

I am so over sick kids. Mal is still sick, on her 2nd antibiotic, had a fever through the night of 104, coughing like there's no tomorrow. She just can't get a break. Oh and while Tim had all four kids while I was at school, she pukes in his new car.

My kids finally got a snow day today! They are thrilled!

What is everyone doing this weekend? I am under the weather, so I am staying home all weekend long. I hope. I will be leaving work early today and I'm going to do my grocery shopping then, so that I won't have to leave the house!!

I am sitting here listening to OFF KILTER......did I tell you they are very very hunky......sent the site about them to my neighbor and she said......WOW baby ....the name and them doing celtic music was not what she expected....hopefully we will be able to glance at them a little in May.....but will settle for THE TOKENS and having them sing THE LION SLEEPS TONIGHT...

I need to find a good recipe for crumpets.......Whatever they are ...... I will try to be in chat tonight......hopefully will stay awake...

Great jury story Wendee! I have never been on a jury- I am always seem to have a newborn when they call me. It does sound like fun. What kind of personal questions... things like "have you ever been to Math camp?"


The other day inspired me to google smoffing. I found this great song called "Smoffing the Filkers" which is to the tune of Waltzing Matilda. I have been singing it all day. Filkers are sci fi fans who gather in the evenings to sing original folk music- mainly with a spoof or sci fi theme. The name comes from an actual paper (like for a journal)someone wrote where they misspelt "folk" as "filk"..... the whole thing amuses me to no end! Moo forgot to mention that the "secret masters of fandom" has a whole conspiracy theory angle- I do love a good conspiracy theory

We deliberated for no more than 5 minutes. NOT Guilty. Course we joked that when I was to read the verdict, I was going to do the double finger-gun shot at the defendant with a big fat wink...so I sort of maybe held in a little inappropriate giggle. Allegedly. My co-jurors were really funny folks so I had a lot of fun!

We talked before being picked because it was super boring. The topic was "How can we get out of this?" One lady said to say: "I see an aura of guilt around the defendant" and one said, "I dreamt the defendant was in Iraq playing with a goat" (with a blank stare and no further explanation). Again, it's inappropriate to erupt into a giggle fit in court. BUT we got picked. Plus a nerdy older (50 ish) man who was reading a book on the Civil War and was *thrilled* to be the token male. He turned out to be very funny in a dry, sarcastic way.

There were 2 non-drinkers, and 2 drinkers in our group. That's where the questioning came in. But, ya have to set aside your own beliefs to be open hearted. A Criminal DUI charge is a biggie here and strapping him with that would have been not good. It was a very interesting case. Glad it was only a one-dayer.

Glad you had a great time Wendy! I love being called for Jury Duty but then my employer still pays me for the time I miss and I have plenty of family here in town that child care is usually not a problem. As the son of a police officer, nephew of two police officers, and brother-in-law of a police officer, I don't "make it" through voir dire for criminal trials but I have been selected for a civil trial (and I was foreperson of that jury -- must be a DIS thing).

I've been super busy lately. Babynursing, TR writing, Back Rubbing, Cigar Rolling, Supper Making, Sweater knitting, and all the other things good women do.


Julia and I are going to a rodeo this weekend. She is going to compete in it and The Dh is staying home with the boys. I've never taken her to a rodeo all by myself. Wish me luck. I know we'll have fun though.
