Moons Over My Disney--11/2015 Honeymoon-Updated5/21

Day 2- One Spark of Light

After we had cooled off, we headed back to Epcot for our dinner at Le Chefs de France. I didn't have any Fastpasses left for the day so we didn't venture toward any rides except for one: Imagination with my favorite little Figment. I loved so much riding along with Figment and the Dream Weaver when I was a child. I admit the attraction doesn't really call to me like it used to, but I still enjoy it. I have a few of the limited edition Figments and had to get another one this year in honor of the Food and Wine Festival. Side note about Figment for anyone else who may be a Figgy lover like me- there are comic books. I'm not a big fan of comics, but my husband is and knowing my love of both reading and the little purple guy, he bought these for me at a bookstore at home. They're a fun read!

Anyway, our honeymoon is kind of a list of firsts going along with the theme of our first vacation as a married couple. Le Chefs de France is a restaurant I had wanted to try for several years. We had an ADR there back in 2000, but we were so tired we decided to cancel it. We did a little exploring and at some point we decided to stop by the Crepe stand to try a chocolate crepe. It was freshly made so it was warm, but it wasn't really anything special.

The wait for Le Chefs de France was quite long once we had checked in so we sat outside to do a little people watching. Once we were seated our server came to greet us. He was a nice fellow, but he was soon charged with a rather large party next to us. After we ordered our appetizers and entrees, we didn't really see him again. I don't really blame him because he had so many people to tend to, but our glasses were empty for quite some time. After we ordered dessert, it took more than half an hour after we had finished for him just to bring us our check so we could leave. Our meal was good, but I'm not sure that I would return again. I'm glad we did give it a try, though.

The park was starting to close so we took a quick stroll through Mouse Gears and called it a night. I was ready for sweet dreams of the week ahead.

Intermission

I haven't been able to update because Photobucket hasn't been very compatible with my computer lately. I've recently discovered that I can upload my pictures from my computer, but I've lost my cord to my camera so I can't do that either. :(:(

With that being said, I will share some magical news:

We're going back!!!!!!!!!! pixiedust:

My sweet husband suggested it (I was stunned.) He thought that with both of us having to have surgery recently and the unsavory events that have additionally occurred, it would be a good pick-us-up. His stipulations were that we stay at least a week and we find time to actually relax and rest. Okay okay, I think I can do that. :D

While I really enjoyed Animal Kingdom Lodge and Caribbean Beach Resort, I knew we would need to be more conscientious about cost for this trip. I waited patiently :rotfl:for the fall promotion, hoping like everyone else that Free Dining would appear. Finally, last Monday it was announced. By the time I got home from work to book it, there were slim pickens' available for resorts. My choices were pretty much Pop and AKL. Oh dear oh dear, what to do what to do. My heart wanted AKL but my logical brain said to save the money.

So I booked Pop Century! :jumping1: I did upgrade from the QS plan to the Basic Dining Plan. I also chose a Preferred room so we could be a little closer to the buses. We will be there 09/09/16-09/17/16. My husband has never stayed here, but I did in 2010. It was fun, and I think we'll enjoy it.

My ADRs are set:
QSR--Be Our Guest--yay, I've never eaten here! :banana:
Rose and Crown-tradition
Teppan Edo--also tradition
Tokyo Dining--hubby loves it
Mama Melrose--Fantasmic Package!!! :cool1:
The Plaza
Coral Reef---ehhh, someone convince me to keep it or suggest a better seafood place, please?
And, finally, Be Our Guest--FOR DINNER!!! :cheer2:

We are also planning for MNSSHP, which I've never been able to do before. I'm so very excited and hope to see the Sanderson Sisters come back. :Pinkbounc

We'll be there for F&W, too. popcorn::

Suddenly, September seems so far away.

Anyone else taking advantage of Free Dining and heading out in the Fall?

We're going back!!!!!!!!!! pixiedust:

I'm so excited for you! Let me know which ADRs you get, Where are you staying?

Where are you staying?
Originally planned to stay in a Cars Suite at AoA because TWO bathrooms. But I wasn't able to snag a free dining offer with a stay there so we switched to Coronado Springs Resort...with the savings in room price and the free dining, we saved ~$3K! So even though losing the extra space and bathroom makes me :sad:, the $$ that went back in my pocket makes me :banana: lol

Yay for saving money! I've never stayed at Coronado Springs, but it looks lovely. I hope you enjoy! Now the wait begins. . . :)

Day 3- True Blue

This update is brought to you by my awesome husband who fixed my computer!
:love1:

We awoke to another beautiful morning in Disney Paradise. We had a 9:50 breakfast reservation at Crystal Palace. While we have eaten both lunch and dinner there, we’ve never had a breakfast reservation. I was looking forward to giving it a try. In honor of my favorite donkey, I dressed in all blue (well, we’ll say it was intentional anyway. . .)

While waiting to be called into the restaurant, we paused for a newlywed selfie.

Please excuse my complexion, my arm seems to be blending in with the white bench. :scared1:

When we were called inside, we found Piglet waiting for us.

The rest of our friends from Pooh’s Corner came along soon.

As for our meal, I really enjoyed the traditional American fare. There was so much to choose from: biscuits, gravy, waffles, pastries, bacon, sausage, potatoes, and a station that customized waffles, pancakes, and omelets. I took advantage of a freshly made ham and cheese omelet. I definitely would go back for another early morning meal at Crystal Palace. In fact, I enjoyed it far more than my lunch and dinner meals in the past.

After breakfast, we had enough time to ride Haunted Mansion before we had to go to Epcot for our first FP of the day: Spaceship Earth. It was touch and go for a few minutes, but we made it through the 999 happy haunts and hopped on the monorail for a relaxing ride over to Epcot.

Next up: Lunch in an English pub, a first-time landing on Mars, and speeding along the track.

Day 2- Around the World in 80 Minutes

Epcot was beginning to turn into our home away from home. As we were on the Deluxe Dining Plan and eating our way through the world, we had many reservations there. After leaving the MK, we took a leisurely stroll through the front gates of Epcot and toward our aircraft: Spaceship Earth. We had our first FP of the day there so we skipped the long line and boarded our blue rocket to take a travel through time. I’ve always enjoyed the slow ascension into the future, but it was so hot in there it was nearly unbearable. Our ride stalled for a moment and the fun interactive game didn’t work for us so we were happy to hop off and leave. It was also very crowded so we skipped the activities set up inside and started our journey around the world.

Rose and Crown is our tradition at WDW, though we always eat there for dinner. We love the antiquity of the restaurant, the CMs, and the magnificent view of Illuminations. So, in addition to our traditional meal, I had booked our first lunch reservation. The menu is different. For our appetizers, Jason ordered the meat pies and I had the cheese plate.

[URL=http://s566.photobucket.com/user/SweetSerendipity13/media/Disneymoon%202015%20Day%202/20151109_002752_zps2k6wkoxy.jpg.html]

Neither of us were big fans of our starters. His meat pies had a relish mixture inside. I enjoyed trying the different types of cheese, but I wasn’t fond of very many of them. There was a great Irish cheddar that was super sharp and stout.

For our entrees, he had the shepherd’s pie while I had the fish and chips. He always likes their shepherd’s pie with the mashed potatoes on top. I’ve never had their fish and chips, but found them to be overly greasy due to the batter. The fish was flaky, though, so I ate some of that without the breading.

For dessert, we both had the banoffe tarts. Oh my oh my, so good! Chocolate crust with toffee cream filling and bananas. Best part of the meal.

[URL=http://s566.photobucket.com/user/SweetSerendipity13/media/Disneymoon%202015%20Day%202/20151109_012341_zpsyzxx1f9f.jpg.html]

We were disappointed, overall, with our lunch but that does not deter us from Rose and Crown. We are still going back for dinner this coming September, and I know we’ll have a great meal there.

After our stomachs were full, we had to make our way to our next Fastpass: Mission Space. This was another first for us. We thought it may be a bad idea because, A, we had just eaten and, B, simulators make him feel nauseated and set off my vertigo. Still, we knew Gary Sinise was counting on us. We went for the less intense option. Jason had just earned his pilot license, supposedly, and I was to navigate our mission to Mars. In all honesty, it wasn’t too bad. It was a little rough at the end, but we landed safely.

We walked around for a while, perusing shops, and anxiously awaiting to fulfill our need for speed. We haven’t been on Test Track since the refurbishment so we were excited about the new holding room so we could customize our vehicles. Our final FP + helped us through the line. We were in the backseat and after a minor seatbelt hiccup, we were off. Our vehicle was so fast and efficient that we came in first place. Hoorah!

We tamed our hair back into place and caught the boat at the international gateway back into the World Showcase. The night was cooling off, and it was a relaxing moment for both of us. We had dinner plans at Tokyo Dining, another first for our trip. I loved the contemporary design of the restaurant, so sleek and chic.

Again, we ordered appetizers as part of our DDP. I had the tempura while Jason ordered the Karaage.

My tempura was perfectly crispy and included one chicken tender, shrimp, zucchini, and onions. It was probably one of my favorite appetizers on property. My husband loved his as well: crispy pieces of chicken with onion sauce.

[URL=http://s566.photobucket.com/user/SweetSerendipity13/media/Disneymoon%202015%20Day%202/20151109_064735_zpsvzppavbg.jpg.html]

For our main courses, my husband had Tempura, which was a bigger version of my appetizer. The grilled chicken with beef sukiyaki rice and sautéed vegetables appealed to me so I had that; boy, was I glad I did. I like my vegetables, well, dead. They were cooked perfectly.

For some reason I don’t have pictures of our desserts, but I had the green tea cheesecake. I really liked the light cheesecake flavor with the mild drizzle of green tea sauce.

In short, we loved our dinner at Tokyo Dining. It has gone on our “must do” list. By the time dinner was over, the park was closing. Hand in hand, we meandered through the remainder of the pavilions toward the exit. Our vacation was off to a fantastic start!

I love how you say we meandered or we took a leisurely stroll.:love: I am always in such a hurry moving from one place to another. Trying to soak it all in and do as much as possible. I look forward of the trip where I actually stop and smell the roses. Keep the updates coming, it sounds great so far.

It is really hard to slow down at Disney. Everyone is constantly trying to beat the lines, arrive for reservations, get out of the heat, buy that great souvenir, spend as much time as possible in the parks. I get it---I'm so guilty of that, too. I tried to slow down this time, stop and rest from time to time. In fact, there was one day at Animal Kingdom that Pizzafari was closed. So, we got cups of ice water, sat under the shade on the patio at the restaurant, and propped up our swollen feet for about an hour. It felt really nice to do that for a change. It's not easy to do, but I'm glad I did. Thanks for reading along!

Day 4—We’re Going to Hollywood

Hollywood Studios, action packed and full of fabulous people, may not be our favorite park, but we intended to cram as much fun into our one day visit as possible. We had scored a FP for Toy Story Mania, and my husband was so excited to see the new attractions over at the Star Wars area. I love perusing the shops down the streets and stopping to listen to the many actors lined up.

It was a foggy morning, casting a sort of eerie glow over the park. It reminded me of our wedding day: our ceremony was outside and it had rained all weekend. When it came time to walk down the aisle, there was a light mist and fog. It actually made it an even more magical moment even though my dress was muddy and my hair frizz out on end. Anyway, it made me smile so I took a picture of the Christmas tree, enveloped by the rolling of the fog.

*Note, I posted the wrong picture so just imagine a little fog in front of that tree*

We had a FP+ to Tower of Terror. While I was clinging to my beloved’s hand in affection, I was trying to keep my cool and not squeeze his hand too hard. I don’t like, I repeat, don’t like in any way, shape, or form Tower of Terror. Jason, however, laughs maniacally while we’re dropping. He’s having a grand ol’ time while I’m defying gravity, thinking I’m about to be plastered against the ceiling. The only way I get through it is by closing my eyes and thanking my lucky stars that I’m in Disney at all. However, I never tell my darling that I despise it because I know he enjoys it. I can stand a few minutes of discomfort for his happiness.

[URL=http://s566.photobucket.com/user/SweetSerendipity13/media/Disneymoon%202015%20Day%203/20151109_201747_zps79xttted.jpg.html]

After staring daggers at the bellhop, we board our elevator. Needless to say, we survived the Twilight Zone. Ugh, I’m cringing thinking about it. Moving on.

We had VIP passes to Aerosmith, pleased the line wasn’t terribly long. I am always happy to climb into that limo, becoming the one who tries to sing along with the songs and just ends up laughing like a crazy person. Oh, how I love this ride. Once is never enough, but I see the twinkle in DH’s eyes. It’s time to go see all the Star Wars stuff. I don’t like Star Wars either. Please, folks, stow your tomatoes. However, Jason puts out such an effort for me for Disney that I try to reciprocate that for him. I’ve watched all the movies except the newest one. He has decided our unborn children, should they ever be boy and girl twins, will be Luke and Leia. I’m intending to have the final say should that day ever come, but for now I just smile and nod.

Anyway, we use our Fastpass for Star Tours. In the past, the simulation has made us both ill, but he would like to see the new scenes so we hop on. Just like last time, we walk out a little uneasy. We visit the Tatooine Shop, looking for a Chewbacca mug that he saw at Disney Springs. Spolier alert: we never find it. We searched every shop on Disney property, but it was never to be found again. After exploring every inch of Star Wars turf, we head toward 50s Primetime Café for lunch. This was the very first table service restaurant I ever ate at way back in the 90s with my mom and friend. Our “cousins” in the seat next to us spilled their milkshakes all over my mom. I can remember her saying “Cousin Dumbo just spilled his milkshake all over me.” I don’t think it’s the food that keeps me going back there, but the memories of being there with my mom as a kid and then again with my mother, grandmother, and my then boyfriend—who is now my husband—after my dad passed away. We bonded in that place; our family was brought together at Disney. :love:

When we were seated, I was reminded I could get a shake as my drink. I was leaning toward iced tea, but when she told me the shake options I think I SQUEEEEED so she took that as an affirmative and brought me my drink. Ladies and Gentleman, I give you the Pumpkin Spice Milkshake. :worship:

[URL=http://s566.photobucket.com/user/SweetSerendipity13/media/Disneymoon%202015%20Day%203/20151110_002710_zps56tjyncm.jpg.html]

It was mostly whipped cream, but the shake that was actually in there was very good: a nice balance of spice and pumpkin. I think it was gone by the time she had walked away.

For our appetizers I had the crab cake with succotash and aioli. It wasn’t as good as it had been in the past, but I ate the crab cake at least. Jason had onion rings.

[URL=http://s566.photobucket.com/user/SweetSerendipity13/media/Disneymoon%202015%20Day%203/20151110_003201_zpsoawk1lxk.jpg.html] [URL=http://s566.photobucket.com/user/SweetSerendipity13/media/Disneymoon%202015%20Day%203/20151110_003156_zpsjbeov0pf.jpg.html]

Entrees were Pot Roast for him and the Sampler for me. I do enjoy the pot roast with the julienne vegetables on top. The fried chicken was crispy, but I grew up in the South and no one beats my Granny’s fried chicken with her special batter.

[URL=http://s566.photobucket.com/user/SweetSerendipity13/media/Disneymoon%202015%20Day%203/20151110_004926_zpsbkafordc.jpg.html] [URL=http://s566.photobucket.com/user/SweetSerendipity13/media/Disneymoon%202015%20Day%203/20151110_004931_zpsona6kjuf.jpg.html]

Lastly, Pineapple Upside Down Cake and some sort of chocolate cake concoction:

[URL=http://s566.photobucket.com/user/SweetSerendipity13/media/Disneymoon%202015%20Day%203/20151110_012023_zpsxojlwwgg.jpg.html]

Our day was starting to wind down. We had dinner reservations at Yachtsman’s Steakhouse later that evening and wanted to rest before we changed and went over there. We still had one more FP: Toy Story Mania. I always lose at this against my awesome video-gaming husband, but I enjoy it so much. I just love the way the ride spins, the fun queue, and the cool bursts of air inside.

[URL=http://s566.photobucket.com/user/SweetSerendipity13/media/Disneymoon%202015%20Day%203/20151110_014356_zps69qgtmaa.jpg.html]

Afterwards, we had a snack at the Writer’s Stop. Had I known then that it would be my last time there, I may have loitered a little longer. I’ve always enjoyed stopping in this quiet little shop and having a snack. The carrot cake cookies are fabulous.

Lastly, we headed over to Muppet Vision 3-D. I’d forgotten what a cute show this is. Along the way, I met a chilly old friend.

That wrapped up our day at the park. We both felt satisfied that we had given Hollywood Studios the good ol’ college try. Actually, I think we both enjoyed our day there. I am excited to announce that we have booked a Fantasmic dinner package for September. It’s been a long time since we’ve seen Fantasmic.

Stay tuned for our visit to the Yacht Club.

First of all, congrats on your honeymoon! Secondly, congrats again on going back!

We were there during the same week as you and I was wondering if maybe I'd catch us in a TR and...

That's us! I'm the one in the white with the black shorts and trying to get to the front so that I could take this picture:

Great minds think alike because we were leaving from ToT as you were headed there! It's a small world, after all. :rolleyes1

But besides that interlude, I'm glad that it looks like you're having a great time. And your pumpkin spice shake at 50PT looked incredible.

Thank you so much! But, WOW, that is so cool! It really is a small world. We walked right by each other not knowing we'd "speak" later on. :goodvibes Thanks for stopping by and letting me know!

A Change in Plans

Woo, life has been busy with work and the start of summer. I've barely been able to hop online. Next weekend, however, will be a long weekend with the upcoming holiday. I plan to catch up on my trip report and get a few updates in.

I do have a very small update about our upcoming trip in September. For a small upgrade charge, we added an extra night to the beginning of our trip. We also changed our resort from Pop Century to Port Orleans Riverside---yay! We truly love that resort and are looking forward to some relaxation!
