Moonlight Magic Jan 2025!

I'm not bothered by the timeline other than I'm antsy to get it over with and find out if we have a spot or not. I haven't fully planned the weekend because if we do Moonlight Magic we are keeping the rest of Sunday open to relax. That's my only issue.

General registration for Oct/Nov/Dec Moonlight Magic at Animal Kingdom was Oct 8th and early registration was prior to Oct 8th, which is greater than 30-days for the Nov & December events.
In the past we booked rooms for moonlight then canceled before the 31 days when we were rejected. After being rejected a few times we didn't book a room for the Nov 24 AK moonlight. When we actually got in it was to late to book so we paid cash to stay at the all stars. A win for Disney as our "free" moonlight turned into an expensive long weekend. We paid to stay a few nights and went to Hoop Dee Doo.

We extended one of our planned trips this year in an attempt to get a moonlight. If we get it great, if not we are just out a few points we wouldn't have spent for the trip and we will take advantage of the free water park perk.

Is this your first Moonlight Magic event? That's nothing new, registration is ALWAYS within the 30-day window.
Always is not even close... Every MM event I've attended has had registration that has been more around the 60 day window.

This is my frustration as well. Also, we would have taken an earlier flight home Monday if we knew we weren’t going to get it, but didn’t want to risk it as we may (hopefully) be out past midnight.

I’ve never been to a moonlight magic so I was happy to see that one was scheduled during the trip I had planned. But with the visitor capacity being smaller and my luck chances of me getting a ticket are pretty slim. Do you think they only doing the HS one or this one and the February at AK?

This is a topic I wish I had brought up for the Annual Condo Association meeting in January.
I have never been lucky enough to attend yet many seem to have gone too many times …There has to be a better way .
I almost wish they did not have them and don’t understand how this increases Sales ; if it is friends and family going with their ownership source.

Funny that you should mention this. I’m sure they don’t really read their surveys but I just filled one out and wrote out a long paragraph on the moonlight madness as I call it then deleted it. But I figured they wouldn’t listen or if too many people complain just not have them anymore.

I, for one, am happy they offer this event. They offer this event in hopes that owners will buy more points (which is what we did). I don’t understand how going too many times is a bad thing. We are all given the same window to sign up. Last year we went 4 times and hope to go to all of them this year. We will be in CA for the one next month and am hoping we get a spot. We have never done that one. Pixie dust for all who want to go.

Same!!! Our arrival day is on 1/26 and I have not planned anything out because I don't know if we will be at DHS for MM or where we will be if we don't get tickets. My DH is not worried at all because he wants to be carefree with the planning this trip (to a point), but I am a planner and this is really stressing me out.

I said I almost wish …. Almost
I am sorry but I sincerely doubt many guests attend a party and then Buy More Points because of that .

My comment was more in support of the poster that thought one event per year per member .

The guides tell potential buyers about the MM events as one of the perks of buying direct. DVC members who attend the MM events talk to their friends and relatives and maybe even people they meet in the parks about the event, and some of them become interested in buying so they can attend too. And every now and then, there's a resale owner here on DISboards who admits to adding on a direct contract because they've decided they want to attend MM. IOW, the MM events are advertising and incentives for buying direct.

It's the other way around. When prospective are considering a purchase, these events are part of the future they imagine for themselves.
I understand that back at the beginning (when OKW was the first), a purchase came with free entry to the parks for X number of years (less parks then too)

Moonlight Magic may be a way to still offer (the chance of) park visits with a DVC purchase.

These additional dates at DAK were an exception as they were added last minute. They were also available to those that had already attended at DAK event earlier in 2024.

What do you mean by visitor capacity? Where does it show the maximum number of tickets?
