Moonlight Magic Jan 2025!

As to the comment about capacity i was curious about this too. When there is registration there seems to be two, the first is for dvc members staying on property with points. The second seems to be general DVC membership perhaps staying but paying for room. Both of these always seem to happen. Do they limit on the first? That would seemingly be a problem if those people have priority shouldnt they be guaranteed as long as they register during the first chance? Point being that if there is no limit during that first period and the second always opens up how often do people who qualify for the first registration period get rejected.

I don’t know how often people get rejected, but it has happened to us once out of the four times we have gone. At some point the line says no more availability. Hollywood Studios is the smallest park.

What do you mean by visitor capacity? Where does it show the maximum number of tickets?
I think others have answered but I’ll explain myself better. Disney and DVC don’t ever give out the exact numbers of practically anything. HS is smaller so there will be less of us who can get tickets. Looking back at past events seems like more people are disappointed because they couldn’t get HS than other parks which is why I’d never change my plans for this one on the off chance I can get lucky for tickets. Epcot bigger so more tickets are available still they sell out.

I have to admit that I am starting to think they forgot... :)
Yeah almost feels like it. At first I thought because of holidays and vacations they wanted to wait til after the holidays were over. AK has one on February 12th hopefully they aren’t waiting til closer to their 30 days to do them both.

So Adora, i understand the smaller parks less tickets idea, but with that said then i would assume the general registration doesnt happen?
Reading the 2024 TL someone says they keep a small number just for the general registration. But some were reporting that they had really low numbers for that registration and couldn’t get in I think under 200.

Clarifying that I am not aware of anyone with a reservation being rejected at the gate.

Regardless if early or normal reservation, it is not uncommon to get a high number and not able to register for the event

In the past there has always been a general registration. So they have a pool for the early, resort guest registration, and then a pool for general registration. There is no way of knowing the size of each pool of tickets, but anecdotally it appears that the general registration fills up faster.

My DVC Guide called today to check in with us to make sure we were all set for our reservations on Feb 2nd at VDH. I asked him if he possibly had any idea about when the registration would open for MM at DCA and he said he hasn't heard either. He also made a good point that Disneyland's dates also coincide with the RunDisney event at DL, so he was super surprised they were opting to do MM at the same time. I'm hoping DL doesn't regret the decision and cancel for some reason. Regardless, my family is going for those couple of days since we've got the room booked, but MM would be icing on the cake for the trip!

(Edit: I know this isn't about the January dates but I just wanted to add the info I got in case anyone else was trolling for DCA. I'm hoping DCA and HS registration dates will drop around the same time!)

Our trip is Feb 2-8.

Finalizing our plans today I notice Touring Plans has HS hours 9am-1am on Sunday Feb 2.

—So I checked WDW site After Hours schedule. Nothing on that date.

—Pulled up the WDW site Calendar for Hollywood Studios hours and events:
Sunday Feb 2 hours listed as 9a-9p;9p-1a
Sun Jan 26 it’s just 9a-9p.

—Looked at DVC site Moonlight Magic page, and for HS it says:
Please check back later for registration information. Event and registration dates are subject to change.

We’re less than 3 weeks from Jan 26th yet no registration yet?

It would be a very happy surprise if we actually had a chance to do HS MM. So far we’ve only attended one, that was AK back in November 2024.

Wow! Only18 days out. They really are going down to the wire.

Membership Magic activates on Jan. 12. Hopefully, does anyone think this could have anything to do with registration?

Does anyone remember what the usual time is for registration? I can't remember if it's 10am like runDisney races

Also, interesting that the registration for EC, DHS, and DCA are all on the same day. I'm preemptively worried about the website crashing.

I assume I’m reading this right, if I want to register for the January DHS event, that means I cannot register for the February DCA event because it’s during the same “season”, is that correct? Even though they are on different sides of the country. Even though there is usually only one annual event at the Disneyland resort while there are nearly a dozen at WDW.

Funny because they also posted the registration dates for the September event!
