Month of December - WISH Team Walkers and Runners

Thanks. I did not think it would happen so fast.

In a male dominated sport I want my chair to say "I'm a Girl" :lmao:

That is so cool Kirsti - I am so glad a sponsor came through and got you a chair - and you can have the colors you want as well as it saying "I'm a girl!!" I am so happy for you!!! Will you have it in time for Goofy?

I wish it would be, but at the moment the lead time is 7 weeks, so i will have it for the Princess.

Congrats Kirsti! LOVE the colors!!

I'm so nervous, I'm having nightmares - my hip is still in major pain... aleve is helping.

Kristie,

Cool colors and that you found a sponsor. But what does the ride look like so we can look for you at future races?

I don't have a photo, but almost everyone at the WDW Marathon and 1/2 will have it!!!!

Just look for someone who looks like they are lying down between wheels.

Next time i'm at the factory for a arm fitting I will see if they will let me take a photo.

I am trying to find a full marathon with the longest allowable finish time, anyone know of any?

TIA

Honolulu Marathon....I don't think it has a time limit!!!!!!

What kind of time are you looking for and where in the USA??

Honolulu Marathon....I don't think it has a time limit!!!!!!

DING DING DING, WE HAVE A WINNER!!!

The Honolulu Marathon has NO time limit. It starts at 5 am. At a certian time they do pull up the water stops to get traffic open again. The finish line remains open until the last person crosses.

So you have to be prepared with your own water and food around mile 14 if you are walking at a 30 minute per mile pace. There are water fountains along the course, you just need to know where they are. There is a McDonald's and KFC in one area, and a gas station with a convenience store. Yes, people have been known to stop and eat during the race.

Tracy from WISH just did it in 11+ hours, and although it was rough for her, she got her bling!

This year the last finisher came in around 7:20 pm (14 hours 20 minutes). Some years, it's been 10 pm or even midnight.

If you ever consider coming to Honolulu, PM me by May 1st.

Well, that's exactly what I'm looking for! Not sure the expense would be doable though, have to start saving my pennies!

I have set a long-term goal of someday doing a full marathon, I have done 8 halfs, finished 6 of them, and have gotten a little faster with each, but I am far far away from being fast, so, I thought if I could find one with a generous time limit, that might be the way to go, and, I am also going to follow a training plan to see if I can hit Disney's time limit for in the future.

Any others out there?

Angie, since you allude to travel expenses potentially being an issue, let's look at the ones that are closest... NH marathon doesn't have an "official" time limit that I know of, and it's a stone's throw from you. This year's last finisher was in 7:50. That said, it's a rather difficult 26.2.

Next option, also nearby, and somewhat easier (in my opinion) is Manchester. If you take the early start option, you'll get about 7.5 hours.

Last one I'd recommend considering, is one I overheard from some other runners talking about... Portland, ME. Happens the day after the NH marathon usually, and I believe if you take the early start option there, you have 8.5 hours to finish.

If you need some extra encouragement, and decide to do any of those three, let me know and I'll sign up as well so I can come back out after and finish with you.

BTW, what do your times on the half look like? That will give some idea of what you might expect on a full. Looking at your time in Concord on thanksgiving, McMillan calculator suggests you're potentially looking at a 7:03 marathon (with appropriate training), but a longer race will definitely be a better predictor.

I'm just back from my annual Christmas eve run and will be getting into the shower and heading to Grandma's for some Christmas lasagna. Wanted to WISH you all a Merry Christmas and hope all of you and your families have a holiday full of cheer and devoid of family drama.

So jealous that you got to have lasagna Frank! I'm going to have to head home next year for my uncle to make some for me.

WISH POP Century meet, party of one! (Am I early?)
