Monte Cristos??

I never heard of a Monte Cristo so I googled it.

I checked it out on Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monte_Cristo_sandwich) and I have never seen or heard of a sandwich like this in Disney. The only deep fried sandwich that I know of is Tonga Toast, which is completely different.

I hope someone else can find one for you at WDW or nearby off property.

(I even double checked the menu for Earl of Sandwich http://www.allearsnet.com/menu/menu_eofs.htm and didn't see one there)

Years ago, Monte Cristos were served at WDW. But they're just a memory now.

They have them at DL, but I guess not at WDW....
maybe I can get someone to make me one, but I doubt it. One sounds sooo good right now too.....

We should start a petition to bring it back!!

I actually never tried them at WDW. Kept reading about them in Birnbaums' guide years ago but truthfully they sounded disgusting. Then they disappeared from the couple of places at WDW that did serve them. We finally tried them last year at DL. Quite tasty although so rich. I liked splitting a salmon salad and Monte Cristo at Cafe Orleans.

I rather doubt they'll reappear at WDW. Since WDW seems to be making menus more healthful, it's hard to imagine a return to a deep fried sandwich. Plus there wasn't the tradition that there is at DL with Monte Cristos at the Blue Bayou.

But there are so many wonderful things to try at WDW. Bon apetit.

I totally thought they sounded gross, but them I tried them...I was in heaven. I make it a tradition that when I travel somewhere new, to try one. I'm on like this, "Best Monte Cristo in the world" thing!!

Love Monte Cristos...If you haven't tried one, Bennigan's has them and they are awesome!

I know what you mean. Deep fried served with jelly!:scared1: But they are so good. People have posted that a chain serves them as well. TGIF maybe?

Oh, there you are...Bennigan's. Are they as good as those at DL?

True Monte Cristos are awesome!!! YUM! Now I could really go for one!
I think I had one at WDW when I was young, and had one at Princess Kaiulani in Waikiki.

Unfortunately most of the ones I've found in recent years have just amounted to French toast with some meat and cheese in between - sometimes with powder sugar and/or jam, but not a true deep fried Monte Cristo.

I know you all have heard of the Honeybaked Ham Store, but there's some places that have a Honeybaked Ham Cafe - like a store with an actual sit-down restaurant. They have an AWESOME Monte Cristo......

Isn't the Croque very similar to a Monte Cristo? If so, Chefs de France has a very nice lunch special featuring the Croque Monsieur. You may want to give that a try:goodvibes

Sort of but not really. This is ham, turkey and cheese deep friend, kind of like french toast-ish. Then you eat it by dipping in jelly....

You are all making me feel very old... but I'm sure in 1987 or 88 we had excellent Monte Cristo's at CHH. It was my first trip to the World and these delectable delights made quite an impression. I can't tell you the disappointment when I returned and found these had gone! I fully support any petition to bring them back but fear they would fail any trans-fat/calorie test :sad2: .

I don't know about you, but when I'm on vacation, I pig out. That's what vacations are for - being carefree!! I eat healthy out here in California - because you know, out here in California, we're all tofu-eating, sandal-wearing hippies!! (Not really!!) But there's some friend chicken at WDW with my name ALL OVER IT!!
