Monsters, bugs, and… Jack Sparrow!? Final Update 7/13!!!!

That is so sweet that one of your students got you a pin! :goodvibes

Animal Crossing is the most evil video game ever. Though my sister says it's pointless.

Haha. I always think I'll just play for ten minutes and then it turns into an hour... at least! It is pointless (in a way), but that's why it's fun!

Chapter 30 - Fantasmic!

I left off with us riding Toy Story. We finally met back up with DBF's parents. I think everyone was drained after such a hot day, and they decided to go see the first Fantasmic show. (I was looking for my map to see the layout of the park to make sure I didn't miss anything and I can't find it! I think DBF might have thrown it away while he was cleaning!) I had planned on seeing the 2nd, as I had read it was less crowded and I wanted some more time to ride, but sadly, I was outvoted.

We headed back over to the Fantasmic arena and stopped for another Photopass

We made it to the arena. It was pretty busy already (I think we went in about 45 minutes early) but we managed to find pretty good seats.
322955258_W9wot-L.jpg

Our view. Pretty close to the center.
322940679_3wuGA-L.jpg

We decided to get some snacks while we waited. Before coming in I got a popcorn bucket. (Still need to find a use for it at home!!) But with 5 of us sharing, it ran out pretty quickly. I had seen a lot of people with ice cream and I still had never tried a Mickey bar so that's what we decided to get.

Well, I had my first Mickey bar and DBF and DSis both had frozen bananas.
322941883_qSMWS-L.jpg

322942326_SKadH-L.jpg

We killed some more time by getting out the glow sticks I had brought with me. We even got DBF's mom to put some on! There were some extras in the tubes that we just couldn't get on our bodies, so I offered them to a mom and two kids sitting next to us. They enjoyed playing with them, also!

It was about this time that we experienced the only really rude people we encountered at Disney. If you notice in the Mickey bar picture, there was empty space on the benches in front of us. The space that you see there was about the only space available. It was enough for maybe 2 people. I think that's why no one came over to sit in it. That plus we were right in the middle and it was probably hard to see and people didn't want to climb all the way over everyone else who was already on both sides of the empty space.

So, we had some of our stuff there and the people below us had some of their stuff there. (Yes, I know the space is for people not things, but I gladly would have moved it had someone asked about the seats!) Anyway, with about 10 minutes before the show, this lady came over and started *yelling* to someone, "Here are some seats! These people are using it to put stuff and that's not what they're for so come on, we can sit right here with no problem. These are good seats and we can sit in them if we want to!" We had noticed her coming and removed all our stuff, but the people in front of us didn't and the lady rudely told them to get their stuff out of the way because they were sitting here.

Now, I've left out the most important part of the story and I'm sorry if this sounds rude or insensitive, but it's just the way it was. This lady was huge. She herself took up the space on the bench that DBF, DSis and I did. So she and her son (who is almost as big as her) come over and sit down squeezing in to this tiny little space. But they weren't done. They were turned around and motioning to others that they had found seats. So three more (big!) people come over and try to cram into this little space.

And here is where I really got annoyed. They all had backpacks on their back and didn't remove them when they sat down. You know how those benches are and if you're bigger you kind of already go into the bench behind you, so they were taking up space in the front row and now encroaching on our space with their backpacks. DSis and DBF's dad had to rearrange their bodies so they weren't being smashed with the bags!

On top of that, the lady was so rude to the people below us and kept saying to the girl next to her, "Move down we need some more space! You can share. You don't need all this space in between your party." The girl I think got intimidated and annoyed and ended up moving down a row to not sit with her family and squeezed in to a tiny little space on the row below them! And then the whole row below us were almost sitting on top of each other because of this family!

I was so annoyed! I remember this so well, because it was the worst thing I had ever seen. I'm sorry but if you get to a show 10 minutes before it starts, you shouldn't expect good seats or expect people to accommodate you. I'm getting angry just thinking about it, especially because there were a bunch of open seats on the top and the sides where they could have sat just as easily. They felt they were entitled to those seats, though, no matter who they inconvenienced. GRRRR....

Anyway, after they got settled, they didn't really affect us too much, so I just enjoyed the show. Here are some pictures, but I didn't take too many and they didn't tun out very well.

And two videos:

Character Boat

Princess Medley where you can hear DSis singing and me yelling at her for being annoying! (Haha)

I loved Fantasmic! If I wasn't such a sucker for Wishes and fireworks and the MK, it would easily be my favorite show at WDW! I actually have the music from it as one of my cell phone rings! (I also have Wishes music as another ring!)

We headed out but not before DSis decided she needed to get her DBF a popcorn bucket as a souvenir (which was nice because we got more popcorn - who knew it was so good!). Seriously, does anyone have a suggestion for something to use this for at home. It's just sitting in my closet at the moment, but would love to make use of it at our new house.

We got one last Photopass photo:

We finally got into the car and headed home for the night. But not before Jack insisted on having his picture taken.

Up Next: Our last day! Back to DHS as we didn't get to do everything we wanted.

Great update!

That family would have irritated me also. I hate people that walk in 10 minutes before a show starts and think they should sit wherever they want. Don't even get me started on movies on opening weekend.

Its hard to get good pics of Fantasmic, I haven't tried it since I got the DSLR, so I need to. We never seem to be in the parks at night though.

And somehow I missed your previous update with LMA. That was a great one also. You got some good pics.

I understand about the BST. We were next in line at the tram and for some reason, they opened up part of the line behind us and took those people. :confused3

Great update! OMG I was getting angry reading about that lady at Fantasmic. I have a problem keeping my mouth shut so I would have yelled at her haha, even if it wasn't me she was inconveniencing  Poor DF gets embarrassed, but I hate rude people!

Can't believe we're already up to the last day :sad2:

Great trip report.

Thanks and :welcome:

Hahaha. I hate people like that, too, but have to admit I did that once. You reminded me of it with the movie comment. DBF and I were driving to see PotC3 and hit a ton of traffic. My step-bro was gonna meet us there so we called him and told him to buy us tickets and we'd call him when we got there. He saved us two seats (although on the end and towards the front!) in a packed theater and then asked two people to hold his seat and ours while he ran out and gave us our tickets! Oops! (They need an ashamed or embarrassed smiley!)

I probably could have got better pictures for Fantasmic if I had messed with my camera settings some, but it was the first time I'd seen the show, so I wanted to experience it. Good luck if you try! I'm sure my better pictures would still have been bad!

Aww, the last day is coming up. :sad2:

Haha. It's about time! This TR has been dragged on for way too long!

Yeah, none of us really say anything to people like that, so we were all just sitting there kind of fuming silently. I was mostly mad that she ended up pushing the other lady out of her seat that she'd been in for at least an hour.

See, I probably would have said, "I've had my seat for an hour, where have you been?" Well, depends on what kind of mood I'm in. DH and I were in a theatre many years ago to see 101 Dalmations. The theatre was empty and this lady comes in with this little girl (who obviously was a neice or something) and sits right behind us. The whole time kicking our seats. Then the girls keeps standing up in her seat with the lady telling her to sit down. We were fuming. Finally the little girl falls and I'm sorry to say, but we both went "YES!!!!" Sorry, got off topic on your TR. I apologize. Geez, getting just as rude as the lady at Fantasmic.

Hi irky! I've been reading; I just haven't commented.

Boo to that woman at Fantasmic! I hate situations like that because I never know what to say or do. I don't want to create a scene so I typically ignore it, but at the same time, those things bug me!

I didn't hear it, but when Weird and I went to the zoo on Saturday, he said a kid walked by and cursed and said something about why there were Chinese people there at the zoo or something. I was angry about that, and I was like, "Which kid?" because I so wanted to just follow him around in a way that looked more like it was coincidental that we kept ending up in the same place. Then a good kicking would've occurred too. But Weird calmed me down.

It's not exactly like your situation, but it's just so annoying when like, everyone's having a good time and someone just enters the picture and spoils it.

And on your previous post with the Dumbo picture ... I like how you said you were busy with school and all that as well as Animal Crossing. Hehe. I've been really busy too with school and season 3 of Heroes! I watched the first 2 seasons, but never had time for this one so I've watched snippets at a time. I remember you mentioning that you like it, I think on FB. Man, if we still had VMK, I'd never have time for anything!

Only 2 months left! Countdown time :)

I never used to say things like that, but ever since I became a nurse and it's my professional duty to advocate for my patients to their doctors, other staff, family, etc... I find myself being very vocal. I probably would have thrown in a nasty word or two, I have NO problem barring people from cutting me and saying all kinds of lovely comments to nasty people

Wow, I can't believe that kid said that! :confused3

Haha. I have been playing Animal Crossing when I would usually be posting here. I still read generally while the game is loading or I'm running around, but it's been cutting into my posting time!

Yes, I love Heroes! Even though it's not as good as it used to be.

I have also been reading your flats thread, but I always want to make a nice long comment and comment on multiple things, and then I don't have time to do that and so I just end up not commenting! :sad2: I should just make simpler comments!

I have gotten much more vocal since I started teaching, but I still wouldn't speak up in a situation like that. She deserved to have someone yell at her though!

I promise to update again soon! Things have been really busy with the house, school, and of course, Animal Crossing! ;)

Hi there Irky!
So how is the house coming along? I know you are so excited about that! Have you decided to create an entire Disney room? That would be cool actually. You could use your popcorn bucket as a vase of sorts but I don't know how that would look. I am not good at turning things into other things either lol.
Well anyway, tell us about the Hawaii trip. You are going there just about the time I get to WDW so I know you must me crazy excited as it gets closer.
So what ever happened with the WDW quickie you were going to try to squeeze in? It would be great if you could squeeze it in wouldn't it!

I'm glad to see you back posting!

The house is coming along great! We are set to do our final walk through on June 12 and set to close on June 15 (2 days before we leave for Hawaii and 5 after school lets out!! June is going to be a busy month!). We did our pre-drywall walk through last week. I;m really excited and it's really coming along. Here's a couple pictures that show the progress. It's been fascinating to watch it progress.

This is what it looked like back in January when we bought it. The builder was using our land as his home so all his junk was on it.
460857763_vrTEq-M.jpg

Here's the land in March, all cleared off, ready for ground breaking.
505271551_YgyQ5-M.jpg

April 4, they started digging it out. (I have better pictures but I'm trying to show you from the same angle each time)
505283529_wEHDa-M.jpg

April 12, they had the foundation started. (DBF took pictures this day, so I don't have the right angle.)
511154159_VLCg3-M.jpg

April 19, they had the foundation completely done and the land all raked and evened out.
516051742_d99VR-M.jpg

One week later, on April 26, it was a house!
521494866_BowK2-M.jpg

We were kind of bummed we missed pictures of the first floor and of it without any windows, but they got ahead of schedule and we didn't have time to drive out there. The rooms were all framed out and everything. We had to go and meet with some people and decide where we wanted lights and outlets and cable connections and such, so it was nice that we got to pick where everything will be so we don't have to run cables all across the floor.

They put the drywall up this week, so we're going to go out and take some pictures of it really looking like a house tonight. It seems hard to believe that in less than a month it will be done. It seems like there's still so much to do. I'm not sure when the siding will be going up. It's been really rainy here, recently and the siding guys have 2 more houses to do before ours.

Back to semi-on topic... I think we are going to do a Disney room. I don't want it to be over the top, but we're thinking we'll do the loft area as an office type space and will do that area Disney themed. I know I want to do frame pictures of the four park icons and hang those all in one area. I'm thinking about framing my pin collection and hanging that (I saw this in someone's TR...wdwgirl03 maybe?) I got a collage of all of our character pictures form last summer's trip printed from Shutterfly (yay for free things!) that I was thinking about hanging up in that space.

I like the idea of the popcorn bucket as a vase...maybe I'll have to try that somehow.

There's also a lot of prints on art.com I like. wdwgirl03 also had pictures of the ride poster she bought in NYC and I really would like the Splash Mountain and BTMRR ones. I kind of would like to put those in our half bath, if I can find them, but DBF said the Disney stuff must be contained to one room!

I do know we're going to frame the WDW Resort map that you can send away for and hang it in our living room. We already have a map of Europe from 1500 and a Caribbean map hanging, so we thought we'd stick with the maps from places we've been trend. And I found a Mickey salt and pepper shaker set and napkin holder on Ebay I want to get for our kitchen. So, the Disney stuff is already not contained in one room! ;)

I'm trying to plan for MNSSHP in October. I have to wait until we get next year's school calendar because I have to see if there's a bad weekend to do it. I also kind of want to wait until July to book just to make sure there's no unexpected expenses that pop up, but I'm a little nervous about waiting that long to book. I guess you could say, it's in the very early planning stages.

Hawaii plans are coming along nicely. I made a fun notebook that I've bene using for all my planning. (I got the idea form the Tips board and will definitely make these for all my future trips!) If anyone wants to hear about the plans for that trip, I can certainly post about it! Hawaii and the house are pretty much all that's been on my mind recently.

Wow, this was certainly a long post that didn't mean to start out that way! Haha. Since there's no school today, I might come back and actually do a Disney trip update before we go to the house!

Wow, can't believe the house is going up like that. Hope the rain will move away long enough for them to finish.

I personally would love to hear about the Hawaii trip and hope you get to go to WDW in October.

Day 5 - Tuesday June 24, 2008

Chapter 31- The last day begins

So sad! Our last day was upon us. DBF's parents had to get up early to go to the airport. We got up early because we had to clean the condo and check out before we headed back to DHS. We didn't have much, but they wanted us to clean out the fridge and strip the beds and such. No big deal. We still managed to get to DHS fairly soon after opening.

Of course, by now, DBF knew to take the obligatory first photo of the day! (I thought about adding this to the Disney room as well, if I can find a good picture of it!)
322958615_Ew3nx-L.jpg

Our plan was to get in everything we didn't get in yesterday. We also didn't have a full day. We had to leave around 5 because our flight was around 8.

First up, Voyage of the Little Mermaid.
322961686_tXkpB-L.jpg

We just missed out on making it into the show when we got there, so we ended up having to wait like 2 minutes. Grrr. I hate it when that happens!

I tried to take a couple pictures, but they didn't turn out all that great.
322960101_M4jeg-L.jpg

I liked the giant (hard to see here!) Ursula.
322960255_NTNDg-L.jpg

322961305_RzpYh-L.jpg

I love the movie! We liked the show, but I think I would pass on it the next time unless I could go right in!

I made DBF and Dsis stop for a picture in the alligators (DBF and I have a long standing joke about alligators and must get pictures with any alligator we see. We have quite a few!) They weren't awake enough yet to ham it up. I was lucky they sat!
322962100_onF6h-L.jpg

On our way to Star Tours, we saw this lovely flower and a cute lizard.
322962413_ygMqv-L.jpg

322962839_mbvZ3-L.jpg

We saw some Storm Troopers, waiting to go out for the Jedi Training (I think!).
322963185_Dka6Y-L.jpg

DSis and I hate Star Wars, but like motion simulators, so we decided to try out Star Tours. The line wasn't too bad yet. In fact, the park seemed a little lighter this day as far as crowds went.

Some pictures from the line...(I have no idea what these are of!)

DSis was in a bad mood and didn't want to be in the picture, but at the last minute changed her mind.
322966074_CwiFH-L.jpg

I don't really remember much about the ride. I think I liked the ride, but was lost in the story line, so I didn't love it. For some reason talk about Star Wars tends to shut down my brain. (Very similar to talk about time travel!)

After we got off, DSis and i wanted to go meet some characters. We walked over to the hat and got in a long line for Chip and Dale. DBF wanted to go see the Jedi Training, so we split up and we told him we'd meet him over there when we were done.

We don't have any pictures of the Jedi Training because we only had the one camera and DSis and i kept it.

Chip and Dale were fun to meet. Dale was hitting on DSis again (I swear they must know who doesn't want to be embarrassed and do their best to embarrass them!) and then Chip tried to walk off with us and got yelled at by his handler. The line was long and DBF actually made it back in time before we got up there. He was just in time to take some pictures and it was good because there was no PhotoPass person around for them.

I was hoping to make it over to see Minnie and Daisy because I had never met Daisy, but they closed the line down just as we left Chip and Dale. :sad1:

All I got was a picture:
322972313_v4EX2-L.jpg

On a side note, I decided to wear my Monorail shirt that I had bought the night before and I never had so many remarks about a shirt! Multiple CM's even asked me about where I got it and told me that they loved it! It must have been a fairly new item because so many mentioned it.

Up Next: More fun at DHS!

Hi

House is looking great - how exciting - not long till you are in!

I'm with you on the Star Tours thing! Don't get it either!!!!!

I hate reading about last days. They make me so sad.

Great picture of the park gate. I never get a good one.

I'm tired of Star Tours myself. Jacob has to ride it at least once every time we go and normally since the line is so short we ride it twice. You got some great pics of the ride queue.

Love the pics of Chip and Dale, and even though you didn't meet Daisy, you managed to get a pic that you could edit people out.

I personally would love to hear about the Hawaii trip and hope you get to go to WDW in October.

I know. It went up so fast! I hope the rain stops, too!

I will post about Hawaii soon, then!

Haha. I'm glad I'm not alone with Star Tours!!!

It makes me sad to write about it!

DBF took the picture! He had 5 other days of practice! :lmao:

Sorry you have to ride Star Tours so much. I suppose it could be worse and he could be making you ride Mission: Space every single time.

The picture of Daisy will be easy to edit. I should really edit all my pictures. They'd probably be 100 times better, but I'm too lazy. :rolleyes1

That house is going up so fast-- you must be so happy! Our house closes June 8th, so we're kind of in the same boat!

When do you leave for Hawaii? Have you mentally packed a million times? Is there anywhere on these boards where you can post pictures from there? I'm so excited for you!!!

MGM is my least favorite park of all of them... This makes me want to see VOTLM though!

So when are you going to be planning a wedding? Or are you guys just content with the beautiful lower stress life of living together? (Some days I wish we were still there, or at least just a quick elopement to the courthouse, or even a little escape disney wedding where they plan it all in one little weekend planning trip).

I miss talking to you Kristen, I hope you're doing well.

I suppose it could be worse and he could be making you ride Mission: Space every single time.

:rotfl: I get to do that at Epcot. At least I'm bigger and can put my foot down that we don't go on the extreme side. Or if the DH goes, he gets to ride it with him.
