I have a few transportation questions. Hopefully someone can help!
1.What would be the fastest way to get to the Magic Kingdom from the Polynesian? Would it be faster to take the Resort Monorail or go to the Transportaion Center? We will be trying to go Sunday and Thursday for the early hour at Magic Kingdom. THANKS....
2.How about the fastest way to get to MGM when we try to go early on Tuesday. Is the bus faster from the Transportation Center. Also, an option is to drive...any suggestions would be appreciated.
3. How about the fastest way to get to Animal Kingdom from Magic Kingdom. We are wondering if it is easier to drive or go back to the TTC? Thanks:earsgirl:

1. You can take the monorail to MK from the Great Ceremonial House at the Polynesian. Unless your room is really close to the TTC, I would think the GCH monorail would be the way to go. Are you requesting a room close to the GCH or the TTC?

2. We have found it is quicker to drive to the other parks from the Poly. The Poly makes stops at other resorts (the last time we went anyway) so it's not a direct route.

3. If you take the monorail to the MK and you want to go to the AK, I think you can take a bus there from MK. That would be quicker than going back to the hotel and catching a bus from there.

Hope this helps.

These are just my opinions from our experiences of the last two years stayingat the Poly.

1. To get to MK from the Poly, I would take the resort monorail. There will be one stop at Grand Floridian and the next stop is MK. While you can walk to the TTC and get on the monorail there, you would have lots of other people waiting to get on it there and probably a longer wait although there would be no stops in between the TTC and MK.
2. I would just take the bus from the Poly to MGM. We always go early in the morning and there is never more than a 5-10 minute wait for a bus. The bus only stops at one resort then on to MGM. Driving would be okay but you would have to park in the parking lot and walk or shuttle up from there where the bus drops you off right at the main gate. We are always there before the park opens and have to wait in line to get in anyway.
3. To get to AK from MK, it probably would be fastest to drive. I don't know if you can even get a bus at TTC for MGM or AK. You can get on the MK monorail there or on the Epcot monorail but never saw access to the other parks there.

I've been thinking about that MK to AK route and I don't think you can take a bus from the MK - I think you have to go back to the TTC or the Poly.

We've bused from the Polynesian to AK and MGM, and it's not a big deal at all. Of course it's not as quick as the monorail to MK, or as going from YC/BC by boat to MGM, but it's entirely do-able. Leave your car parked if that's your inclination.

Just a note for the busses...

TTC busses to the Studios start at 8:00am. From the Polynesian, they start at 7:00 for Early Entry and Character Breakfasts.

From 8am-11am, bus routes are Contemporary -> Polynesian -> Theme park. No other resort. :) Busses run fairly frequently, and are dispatched from the MK bus turnaround, so if a bus fills up, another one is not far behind. TTC busses are on fixed schedules. If one fills up, the next one is still 15 mins away.

After 11:00am, All busses except AK will go onto the Grand Floridian. Not as big of a deal as many claim it to be.

From AK to MK... take the TTC bus, and then the Monorail. Or, take the Contemporary/Polynesian bus, and either take the Monorail, or walk from the Contemporary.

It's not quick, per se... But on beautiful day, or a starry night, it's a wonderful ride.

If you take the boat right before the MK fireworks, do you have a good view of them all the way back to the Poly?

You should have a good view from the boat for most of the ride... however, there is one part where they go behind an island that *may* effect viewing. A few boat captains might slow the boat down, or stop, to allow for viewing.

The Polynesian offers so many transportation permutations...it can't be beat.

On early entry days, don't go to the TTC. Take the monorail from the GCH or the little launch from the Poly. BTW I think it can be faster than the monorail TO MK. Returning it stops at the GF first but is a pleasant ride. The monorail stops at the GF, too, so it can take longer than the launch IMHO. At any rate transportation from the TTC doesn't start as early on Magic Hour days the last I knew.

We prefer to drive to MGM and AKL but have taken the bus back on occasion when we split up. Remember that you can take whichever bus arrives first ...TTC or Poly. THe resort bus will probably be less crowded though.

Returning to the Poly, don't forget the option of the Ferry. It's faster than the resort monorail these days and never is crowded midday. You could use that on your way to AKL if you choose to do the bus. We take whichever is just arriving...monorail, ferrry or launch.

I think you means of transportation to the Mk depends on which long house you are staying at. There are some that are so close to the TTC that it is easier to walk. SOme are closer to the monorail and some are closer to the boat.

Good point donac, but it is not that big of a resort. The resort monorail can take a while from the MK these days. Several minutes stop at the CR and at the TTC. Even if you're at the far western longhouses I think the ferry can be faster. Of course, fatigue could be an issue, too.
