I'm starting to plan early for my DH's 40th in Feb. 2014 (need to start saving now). Anyway we're thinking of doing a deluxe split stay, half @ MK and half @ Epcot. Starting with the MK portion which resort would be the most comfortable for 5 people? We'll be 3 adults and 2 kids, 5 & 8. I know the WL is out because it only sleeps 4 and we can't afford a villa. So I think our choices are Cont, Poly & GF. Any opinions?

We are a family of 5, too. I think the Poly has the biggest rooms, but we have never stayed there. We stayed at the Contemporary one time (a dream trip!) and we were very comfortable.

The other thing you could consider is to rent through dvc request or similar websites for a 1-bedroom at BLT. We are thinking about doing that for our upcoming trip in January. We normally can't afford more than a moderate, but my DH has a milestone birthday in January, so we are thinking about splurging.

The rooms at the Poly are a lot bigger than a standard size room. this is a wonderful resort to stay at!!

The DVC rooms at Bay Lake will hold 5 also. (king size bed, sleeper sofa and sleeper chair.) plus a full kitchen, washer/ dryer

We have 5 people and love Bay lake!!

We are a family of 5. Have stayed at Poly, GF and CR. As you can see from ticker, staying at CR again. But, Poly is our favorite and have stayed there the most. GF is our second favorite. CR comes in 3rd. They are all great for different reasons. Love the rooms size and theme at Poly. GF is a just a different experience. Glad we stayed there once. CR is convenient is so many ways. CR has huge rooms.

We stayed last September at the GF in one room- Me, DH, DD(16), DS(12) and DD(9) and were very comfortable. We were so comfy that we are doing it again in December! I was a little worried that it wouldn't be enough room but honestly we were fine.

It takes a little planning to get everyone on a schedule-- who takes a shower first, who does it at night, etc. But we didn't really have a problem once we figured it out.

Even though the WL standard rooms won't work, you might want to look into a Deluxe room there. For a little more money they sleep six-- two queens in a bedroom, a separate seating area with a pull out couch and are about 500 sq feet. That might be an option for you.

Good Luck! :)

Poly! Nice big room and by 2014 all the rooms should be refurbished

Out of the 3, we've stayed at the Poly and GF, with the Poly being our favorite, so that would be my choice. I think the rooms at all 3 resorts are pretty comparable in size, although our Poly room felt a little more spacious than our room at the GF. I don't think you can go wrong with any one of them as they are all great resorts. I would go with the one that the theme/decor appeals to you the most. Good luck.
