Monorail Driver told us a rumor about Soarin'...

Awesome! I always wondered why Soarin in WDW still was CA exclusive. I would love to see other scenes, too. DFi and I were just talking about this the other day, he thought that FL has plenty of beautiful scenery that would work well. Of course I haven't got a chance to be wowed by the regular Soarin', yet, so I guess I can't pass too much judgement.

Just want you all to know...

The original concept of the attraction, as envisioned by creator Imaginear Tony Baxter, was California scenes to be shown at the Disneyland location. The project suggested each park would have its own regional film. Management very quickly approved the attraction and funding for all "4" parks (at the time) and gave the projects full priority and support.

As you know, things change quickly at Disney, usually based on expense. But I'd guess this is one project that will, sooner or later, be completed as dreamed by one of the best men in Disneys "dreamer" department!

That sounds reasonable. But, although Florida is a beautiful state, I can't see what they could 'fly over' that would be nearly as spectacular as the landscape of California. Since the Imagineers have been to visit the 'Yeti' in order to get stuff right for Expedition Everest you would think that they would film around the world for Soarin' in Epcot. With all those different worlds to show, how incredible would it be....especially for Epcots birthday. I'll just keep dreaming!!

goofy4tink- I've often thought about what landscapes in Florida would be as stunning as those shown in "Soarin over California" and I have to agree with you. Maybe that's why "Soarin" opened with the "gift from Disneyland". Or maybe it was the budget... or all of the above.

Dream on...

One of our monorail drivers told us that they were going to run Soarin' as it is for about a year, which is all California scenes, and then they are going to change it to be Soarin' Around the World, with scenes from all over the earth, which would tie in nicely with the Epcot global awareness theme. I hope they do! I loved Soarin' just as it is, but would love to see more of our beautiful planet Earth. As long as they leave the ending to be that of either Disneyland or Disney World. :goodvibes
I have heard and read about the same issue concerning the full-time usage of the California scenery in Soarin'. They are planning on waiting until after the "Happiest Celebration on Earth" comes to a close before the transition begins. Which means there might be a brief closure and refurbishment of Soarin' which is uncommon for an attraction that has only been in operation for few months.

To the person that asked in the first page, it does have a very high load rate of about 200 people every 3 minutes.
Think about it, there are two screens set up for it. Then each screen has three gates, three rows per gate, and about 8 seats per row. 8x3=24x3=72x2=144, or four gates, I don't remember, I've only been on it once.
The first time we went, it was closed temporarily for some reason, then our next trip we were on block out, then the next trip there was over a 90 minute wait for fast pass, and this trip I think we waited about 20 minutes in the fast pass lane. Definatly not worth the wait for 90 minutes, even if it is a new attraction.
