Monorail Closure: Can someone please break it down for me?

Hi Y'all,

Here on Disboards, in another thread, someone said that just because we're informed that the resort monorail will be "closed on weekdays from 11:30 am till 7 pm" it doesn't actually mean it will be closed all those hours on all those days. They claimed it just means that when they have to shut it down -- like, say, those times when a crane is working overhead, or whatever else is happening that could be a danger to the public -- those briefer closures will happen within those time parameters.

Is this correct? Or is this wrong? What's the real deal here?

I read two separate statements relating to the monorail closures and both seemed pretty clear that the resort and express monorail between MK, TTC and monorail resorts will be down from 11:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. weekdays from January 21st thru the end of March for infrastructure work. Both articles state there will be additional buses and launches available during these timeframes. Also, the Epcot portion of monorail from TTC to Epcot is not affected by the closure. We will be staying at VGF in late January and we were looking forward to just hopping on the monorail to the MK......but, it will need to be before 11:30 a.m. and after 7:00 p.m. it would appear!

Thanks, yes, I read those, too!

On another thread, see, when people were moaning about not having Monorail service during those times, someone who is a Disboards old-timer/expert came on and said, basically, something like: "People, people, people . . . don't freak out. It WILL NOT be closed all those hours. Just within the window of those hours." But I haven't heard anyone else say that, so . . . . I was curious what the real deal was.

When they closed the monorail during our stay at the poly it was closed all those hours. They did run additional boats and we walked to the TTc to catch the monorail from there to EPCOT so it ended up not being as big of a deal as we originally anticipated.
