Monkees Davy Jones dies of heart attack

I am so saddened by this news. I had such a crush on him when I was younger. I actually watched the Monkees not in re-runs. I was hoping to see him at the Flower Power concert with my DGD who is only 3. Daydream Believer has been her favorite song since she was an infant. I still put it on you tube to calm her down. RIP Davy.

:sad1: So sad. I had such a crush on him.

On Me TV, they have alot of old shows. I tape Love American Style. The show was a vignettes style program. One show had Davey Jones and Karen Valentine.

It was funny because I had a huge crush on Karen Valentine and my wife had one on Davey Jones, and they were in the same episode where they fell for each other.

Even our crushes fell in love (at least in the vignette). Awwwwww

Oh, no.

I love the Monkees growing up!! I remember when the first came on they were up against Gilligan's Island. I remember begging my friends and classmates to stop watching Gilligan and watch THEM!

Next thing you know they were superstars!! Loved them! Davy was a little doll...

RIP my little doll

This is so sad. I had a huge crush on him way back when. He definitely was too young for this.

My first crush. So glad I got to see him at Epcot. He'll always be dreamy to me.

First concert I ever went to was the Monkees in 1987 (Weird "Al" opened for them). I was already a fan of theirs from the reruns I saw of their show. After seeing them Live I became a lifelong fan.

Sad to hear about Davy today. Puts a real damper on an already dreary day. RIP Daydream Believer. :hippie:

I also saw The Monkees with Weird Al in 1987. So glad I got to see them one last time this past July. I'll never forget hearing Davy sing "Someday Man". RIP Manchester Cowboy. :sad1:

I saw them in Louisville the summer of '87 when I was 10.

I'm heart broken. He was one of my major crushes, and I missed him at Epcot by one weekend last year. I was hoping to see him this year.

He and David Cassidy were my absolutely favorites!!!! I remember being about 10 and the Monkees show came on and it was my birthday and I thought they has scheduled it just for me!! Thanks for posting the video from Epcot. He looked like he soo enjoying performing.

This really shocked me. So sad. I had the biggest crush on him, too.

This news actually made me cry this morning. Such a shock. I've had a crush on Davy since I was very young. What girl hasn't? Was lucky enough to see Davy perform with the Monkees (or various members of the Monkees) 3 or 4 times over the years, including the show with Weird Al that others have mentioned. Also saw him on the 20th Anniversary tour at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles, when Mike Nesmith joined the band for the encore tunes. What a thrill that was!

So very, very sad to hear of his passing. He was supposed to perform at a local theater at the end of March. I'd been considering taking my friend's 10 year-old son to see him, since we recently turned him into a Monkees fan.

RIP Davy.

It's amazing how even when you didn't know someone, and hadn't even really thought of them much in a while, what a feeling of something missing there is in the world when you find out they are gone. RIP Davy Jones.

This one has gutted me. Devestated doesn't even begin to describe. I'm so glad I got to see him perform in concert.

RIP Davy
