I am wondering how MUCH money do you have to give to guest services (for KTTW Card) at the beginning of a 4 day cruise? And can I give them cash or travlers checks? I do Not want to give them a credit card.
The Passporter is not very clear on this and I'd like to set aside money.
Thank You everyone!!! :bounce: :jumping3: :jumping4:

I know when you pay with cash you have a $250 limit on a 3 day cruise and a $400 limit on a 7 day cruise before you have to make a payment. The 4 day cruise is probably pretty close. You can give guest services as much as you want at the beginning of your cruise, in either cash, travelers checks, or a personal check for the exact amount you owe, if you don't want to pay in advance. Hope this helps.

What do you need cash for? I thought everything was paid for! I am new to the cruise thing and planning on doing one in April 2006 for mom and daughters.

You might want cash to purchase "adult" beverages, or soda through room service. You may also want cash if you have someone in your group who wants to use the game room or to purchase something in the shops. Also, don't forget the tips, unlike other lines who include the tip in your fare Disney still does the tip envelopes and you can either put cash in the envelopes or put the charges on your account.

Things that are not included in the fee you pay for your cruise: tips, alcoholic beverages at meals, all beverages at bars, spa treatments, extra fee for meals at Palo, shore excursions, shopping, room service tips, photos from Shutters...am I forgetting any?

You do not have to have cash on board the ship, as all of the above things (except what you spend on shore for non-DCL items) can be charged to your room, and then you pay at the end.

Before our cruise I figured out what I "thought" we would spend including total for excursions, tips, bingo, non-alcoholic speciality drinks, pictures, etc. For our two stateroom, 4 day cruise for 6 we "prepaid" by adding shipboard credit a total of 1,500.00 This is high because we did dolphins and parasailing. At the end I STILL owed 300 or so dollars.

We like putting down the credit card as well as the shipboard credit because it allowed us to NOT stand in a line at the end of the cruise to settle up.

MyBoysMom:I was under the assumption that Adult Beverages, soda or purchases from room service and buying something in shops..........Could all be charged to your KTTW Card.
I believe that is what Zeldacruiser is saying too.

Please let me know if my assumption is wrong.

I plan on giving Guest Services about $250 for my account. I really don't plan on spending very much onboard and I think this will be plenty. I'll have our tip money set aside from that.

Thank You everyone for your quick responses! :teeth:

Yes you are correct that you charge everything to your KTTW card. But DCL wants to know up front that you can pay for those charges!! :smooth: And how you intend to pay for them. You can leave them a credit card, a debit card, Disney VISA rewards card, or cash (in the form of cash or signed travelers checks).

Everything is "charged" to the KTTW card..tips to the servers, head server, host/hostess..you can even "charge" those to the KTTW if you like....

However, you can still pay for all of those charges in cash, travelers checks,
etc. I never use a CC because I don't want that debt hanging over me when I get home. So, on our last cruise....

I had a $200 shipboard credit....

I checked my account every day or every other day....

When it the balance started getting low...I went to GS and put more money
(cash) on my account...

I kept a mental note on how much we "charged" and acted accordingly.

I paid all Room Service tips with cash, I paid all servers, host/hostess, etc. in cash..except for Palo those tips we included on our KTTW "charges"..

At the end of our cruise, DCL owed me something like 40 dollars. I went down to GS after midnight on the last night(Friday or early Saturday morning) and got my cash...and

walked off the ship on Saturday morning....

owing nothing for our cruise(except getting the dogs out of the kennel).

It works well for us and like I said...we owed nothing at the end...

Thanks for all the replies!
Phyllis- I Loved to hear how you were able to handle things with cash. I feel the exact same way about not wanting to use a credit card and have that debt out there waiting for me. Thanks!

I am impressed with your expereince with cash. I was under the impression that checking out would take quite a bit of time without "express checkout".

I've done our past three cruises this way....and it is great.

Like I said, go to GS around midnight or after you're sure that you won't "charge" anything else, and it will be fine.

I left a credit card number on file but went down after the third day and put 500 down towards the balance and then the 6th day and did the same. I came off with about 500 or so going on my credit card. This time I have a 200 stateroom credit, 250.00 in disney dollars and a 75.00 disney rewards card so I am starting off with a 525.00 credit. I am going to try to keep the charges under 1500.00 this time but it will be tough!
