Okay- havent even gone yet but want to know (so I can work on hubby) about how much do you save on the same cruise if you book a year in advance? Heard about 50% but thought that was kinda much!!

The rebook on board deal is ten percent off and a 200.00 stateroom credit.. Wow can you imagine if it was 50% the ship would be almost full for the next year before we even disembarked :)

Ann, is the 10% deal still going on? Are they going to offer that indefinitely?

Michelle

I booked a year in advance and the same cruise is now over $1,000 more than I paid for the 4 of us.

I don't know if there is a definitive percentage. I think depending on how quickly that particular date fills up dictates how much the price goes up. Stand to be corrected on that though.
As for the onboard 10% and $200? Was that a limited time deal Ann? I know the $400 onboard credit for the different Eastern cruise was limited.
Cheers,
Grumbo

I have seen savings that are 50% off of the brochure rates! The early booking savings vary depending on how full the ship is, or how full Disney projects it will be (as in Holiday times!)

There are times you can book only about 6 months out and still get the cruise about 40% off of the brochure rates.

I don't think I've ever seen savings of more than 50% for regular bookings though.

When we rebooked onboard, the prices were exactly the same as if we'd called DCL from home and booked. The incentive was a $200 per room shipboard credit.

...before we went on our last cruise, we decided which cruise we were going to book while on board. I then went to several on-line travel sites and got quotes for that cruise. When we went to book the cruise on board, we took the quotes. The gal was able to match the cost plus give us the $200 credit.

I have found the same thing. I booked 15 months out, and the same cabin is up > $1,000.

We booked our 2004 Halloween Magic a few weeks ago, and the DCL rep told us we were saving about 50%.
Not sure what kind of deals you can get onboard, but jwann had a great idea. Gonna use that when we go. :teeth:

There is a definate advantage to booking in advance as the early booking savings can be substantial. What I was referring to was the rebook on board deal in which you get ten percent off and a 200.00 stateroom credit.. The four hundered dollar credit was a limited time deal and only good on the itinerary change sailings. The used to allow you up to 18 months after you sailed if you booked within 120 days of debarkation and you would get the 200.00 stateroom credit but that has since changed to you need to book while on board.

We just booked for April 2005 and it was $2000 cheaper for 4 of us than 2004 for the exact same week. Book early and often!

Is the $200 stateroom credit only for 7 day cruises? What kind of credit do you get for 3 or 4 day cruises?

The 200.00 credit is for a cat. 6 which we usually book, I think different catagories get different credits.

We just booked our January 15-22, 2005 cruise approx. 15 months out on October 6th. We are saving more than 50% off brochure rates!!! ::yes:: Our Travel Agency has some Group Cruises going (anyone can join in) and booked space for the first and second quarter of 2005 as soon as it became available.

If you are curious as to the savings... the price for our connecting Cat. 10 rooms was $760.00 for 1st and 2nd guests (more than 50% off
brochure rate of $1560) + tax and port charge of course...

They were offering an October Booking Bonus of $100 per cabin plus an additional bonus (this bonus is still being offered) based on total base price of cruise: $25 for $1000+, $55 for base price of $1500+, $75 for base price of $2000+, $100 for base price of $3000+, $150 for base price of $4000, & $200 for base price of $5000+.

We are even more thrilled as we got connecting *secret porthole* rooms which have are are actually Cat. 9 with (obstructed) Ocean View for the Cat. 10 Interior price!!!

MommyTo5, I would like to know more about your TA and group rates. Can you PM me if you don't want to post? Sounds like some great deals.

We booked a CAT 6 for 2 adults on the March 20 Eastern cruise. We booked 6 months out with Sam's Club and got an aprox 40% discount. At the time I thought the cruise was a little expensive, but when I looked up the price on the DCL site, I was shocked at the savings we got. Bottom line, I love a bargain!

The 10% discount plus $200 dollars credit was still available on our 25th October cruise. We had already booked but the onboard rate was better so we have taken advantage of the price and got the onboard credit.

Muushka ~

I will PM you now! :D

As Dreams Unlimited is a sponsor here on the DIS boards, I'm not sure if I should post my recommendation for another TA. If anyone else would like the info though, I would be glad to send it to ya privately! Just PM me or post here and I will PM you! On the group cruises, I've noticed they are even several hundred $$ less than All Seas Travel which I have been reading a lot about lately as being the cheapest.

We just rebooked onboard, and for the 7 day cruise the offer is 10% off for ANY category, and a $200 onboard credit. We decided to go with a category 11 instead of a 6. We had a category 6 this time, but felt we were not in the room enough to warrant the price difference.

That's what we have done since our first cruise. Save the money and spend it in the DCl store, Shutters and Castaway Cay! Not to mention the baggages overcharges to get the stuff home!!!pirate: :o
