Has anyone gone that week? Is it crowded?

You mean following the Sunday immediately after Thankgiving, when the park has some of it's lowest visitation of the year?

Good time to visit. You get all the Christmas decorations, but without the Christmas crowds.

oh for sure...Ive gone there many MANY times during that week...everything is ready for the holidays and everything is showing...I highly recommend it:thumbsup2

I've been during that week in the past, and can confirm that Monday-Thursday should be very uncrowded and pleasant, with short lines. It's likely, though, that Friday will be the first day of the Candlelight Processional. If so, be prepared for Friday to suddenly go from "ghost town" to "OMG, look at the crowds!".

I agree. We've gone this week the past couple of years. And it was more crowded this last year than before, but totally awesome time. It is our favorite time to go. But beware of Friday, it was so crowded we couldn't move. We had enjoyed 5 earlier days of nice carefree park days and bam it wasn't a good way to end our trip, but now we know better :)

The deals for the onsite hotels came out around Sept. I think.

Have fun!!

We did it last year for the first time and will go again this year with the extended family. It gives my DD Thanksgiving week break to do her independent study and then freedom to relax during the trip. We loved the decorations and feel without the insane crowds. We actually arrive on Sunday so we can hopefully watch the fireworks and/or Fantasmic. Then the rest of the week is quite enjoyable with the short hours. We get everything done and no one is cranky trying to stay up too late and then getting up early. Both DD's got to walk right up to all of the Santa locations...they loved that...telling each of them exactly what they wanted and how good they had been all year. :)

That is absolutely DARLING!!!:thumbsup2

It is my dream to go to DL this week, hopefully we'll be able to do it one day. Friends of ours went this particular week and said it was FANTASTIC!!

Can I ask why Friday is SO MUCH more crowded? I can see locals coming in after work but that would be later in the day, right?

We'll probably fly in Monday and fly out Friday so we have most of Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

What about the Sunday after Thanksgiving? I am trying to decide if I want to come Sun-Thurs or Mon-Fri that week.

It is still busy on that Sunday until night. If you want lower average crowds go Monday to Friday.

After last year, I'd do Sun - Thur. Were were there both Sunday and Friday and Friday was way way more crowded than Sunday. We spent early Sunday afternoon at the pool then went to the parks, but didn't think they were that bad, more crowded than M-Th of course, but we still had fun. Friday was crazy. I can't remember exactly what time it got insane crazy, it was more crowded in the daytime, but manageable, but at dark you couldn't even move anywhere, it was so bad we couldn't even more to even try to get a spot to watch the fireworks so we climbed Tarzan's treehouse and watched from above. Luckily we saw in the day how much more crowded it was so we were able to collect alot of FP's and use them. We thought for sure after maybe 10:30 pm it would clear out, but it never really did.

If you are planning on staying in the parks Friday night, and CP is that weekend, do Sun-Thur. for sure.

I want to go again at that time this year but DD will have started kindergarten and I don't know about pulling her out of school??? But I really wanna :)

Shhhhhhhhhhhhh...........
That's the week we plan to go too.
I'm hoping for LOW crowds the whole week!

hmmmmmm. You guys have got me re-thinking. Our original plan was to go this week Tues.-Frid., with Friday mainly being our day to re-ride our favorite rides, and see shows that we couldn't see earlier in week(Aladdin, and Fantasmic). Not so sure now... :confused3

We live in northern CA...will the roads be busy if we drive down the Sunday after Thanksgiving? I think we would leave around 6 or 7 for a early afternoon arrival. Or would driving down Monday be better? Just trying to maximize the low crowd days! :)

Where you live would it be a pain leaving at 6 or 7 am because of Monday morning commutes?

Sunday seems to have normal Sunday traffic, even when it follows Thanksgiving.

I went the Sunday through Wednesday after Thanksgiving in 2009, and I found it moderately crowded, but less so than when I went in May. None of the lines for rides were terribly long compared to a busy day, but in many instances the walkways felt crowded as people spent more time enjoying the decor rather than riding the rides. Still, it was so gorgeous we had a great time. It won't be "empty" but it will still be pleasant.
