Moms to be Part 4

Sadly that intrigues me and disgusts me all at the same time! :rotfl:

lol.....I agree! Not something I would ever order, but certainly an interesting combo. :upsidedow

In other news, still on bedrest. Blood pressure is still high and bedrest alone is not bringing it down so I'm supposed to start medicine for it now. Now I have to have twice-weekly visits, non-stress tests, labs, etc. My dr also did the strep-b test this week, because they said that if labor starts after 36 weeks they won't stop it and so it was best to do the test a bit early and know now.

Sorry to hear about the bedrest and complications. Hope the medicine helps keep your BP down. :goodvibes

I haven't really craved much that I never ate before, but I will go on food kicks. I've eaten so much fruit this pregnancy, it's crazy. I go through a 4-lb box of strawberries by myself in one week. I also eat more ice cream; I didn't dislike it before but I never ate much of it.

I'm in the same boat as you, so I feel your pain! Are your doctors going to let you try to get to 40 weeks? My doctors have basically told me that if I get to 37 weeks, they will be inducing labor at 37 weeks and one day.

Sorry this took so long...I'll explain.

Hi everyone! I'm so glad I found this thread! I'm expecting my second DS, and am due August 11th. :goodvibes

So far, all looks good with the little guy....well, big guy I guess. He's already measuring just over a week ahead. I just hope it's not indicative of having gestational diabetes, as I had this my last pregnancy. Is anyone familiar with GD? If you have it once, are you likely to have it with subsequent pregnancies? I take the one hour glucose test next week, so I guess I'll find out then.

Welcome! :goodvibes

Zachary was born late last night! I went into labor around 5am and got checked at the doctor at 8. They sent me over and I had my epi by about 10. I wasn't making a ton of progress so they broke my water. Still no more progress, so they added pitocin. When I was finally ready to push at 8pm, his head just stopped moving down. So...csection at about 10. Happy cinco de mayo! He was 7lbs 12oz and 21 inches. I'm crazy about him!

Congratulations!!

Have to vent! Some part on our water heater decided to break this morning and we have no hot water.... Lovely! We were able to get a repair guy out to look at it, but sadly they won't be able to get a replacement part until Monday... Ughh. I was able to take what I refer to as a 'bird bath' and wash my hair, but this is going to be a long and icky weekend.:sad2:

I'm so sorry to hear that!

So. My venting...
I stayed in MI at my boyfriends until this morning. Which was fine. I stayed home with his 4 year old on Friday and enjoyed being a "mommy". But...this was after the power was shut off on Thursday morning around 10:15 while I was home alone and had not had a chance to shower yet.
Why did they turn the power off? B/C my BF's ex-wife's name is still attached to his account because she won't call to take it off and they won't let him do it and she racked up an $1100 power bill at her house in WI during the winter (they won't shut the power off in WI between Nov & April) and it got attached to his bill. He called to get it straightened out and has talked to lawyers and all that and the power company told him that they wouldn't shut him off because they can see by the address that its not his bill and he has proof from the lawyers that he contacted her about it. Well, they lied.
So here I am in the house on Thursday, on "bedrest" mind you with no TV, no internet, no radio, no shower, no stove or microwave or anything. That was THE most boring day of my life. So then Friday the high is like 45 and the house gets absolutely freezing, my BF is on the phone with the power company all day trying to get them to come hook it back up because his son and I were in the house all day. They told him 3 times that they were coming...and never did! Needless to say we spent 2 nights in a hotel because it snowed this weekend and we had no heat in the house. Honestly, I could have killed his ex-wife.

Anyway, I'm sorry that was so long. I have an OB appt tomorrow morning so I'll let you all know what he says about the preterm labor since I haven't talked to him about that yet. I'm interested to hear what he's got to say. He's pretty opinionated...

These things always happen on the weekends right! - Ugh when the rates are higher for emergency service calls and you can't get parts. I am sorry - hope you get your water back early Monday - hang in there!

Emalee - That totally sucks. I hope the power company gets it figured out very quickly. Glad you were able to go else where and keep warm.

Long weekend here. I started cleaning out our office (AKA junk room) which is going to be the nursery. If you want to see how much storgae space you DON'T have, get rid of your junk room. I honestly don't know where all of this stuff is going to go! I can't wait to get it all cleaned out though so we can start refilling it with things for Colton! I'm so excited to decorate!

WDWorBust: I still feel really ill (and usually get violently sick to go along with it 1-2 times per week). I've just decided that it is going to keep up to the very end! I was doing better on energry between about 16-21 weeks, but have started tiring really easily again. Oh well.

No wierd cravings for me. I have been eating a lot more salty food than before, though. I was also eating a lot of spicy food, but acid reflux has waylaid that!

I managed not to get sick during the glucose test. I had a choice of three flavors: orange, lemon-lime, or fruit punch. I chose lemon-lime since I hoped it would be the least sweet but it was still nasty. right after that they took baby's heartbeat etc and said everything looked perfect. We then had to rush to a Quest Lab a few miles from the Dr's office since my insurance will only pay for Quest to do bloodwork...I haven't heard anything back, but the Dr said they only call if something isn't right so I'm hoping NOT to hear anything! Otherwise, we go back in a month then he said we might start going more frequently.

My mom brought us a bunch of clothes she got and a swing and bouncy seat for the baby this weekend. Our Bulldog puppy loves the bouncy seat, he crawled in it and started to play, LOL.

hope everyone had a good Mother's Day. I was picking out a card for my Mom and saw a Disney card that made me bust out crying in the middle of the store. Crazy hormones!

Have a great day everyone!

Cravings - I am embarrassed to admit I have been scarfing down DOUBLE Quarter Pounders from McDonald's -so gross - I am literally in the parking lot at McD's at 10:30am waiting for the menu on the drive thru to switch to lunch so I can order one. I have had 3 this week - so disgusting - I mean I love it while I'm eating it and then the guilt kicks in almost immediately - not good for me, not good for the baby - and I can't stop going.....

Break - I too am fiending for Disney - every year for the last 6 years we go y to Orlando the third week of May and hit all the parks, etc. This year we can't afford to go and last year was the first time we were totally rained out (16th - 23rd) I dont' mean the nice afternoon showers I mean total rain all day every day during our trip - so I feel like it has been even longer since I got to enjoy Disney - I thought scheduling the big u/s during the week we are usually gone would give me something to look forward to - and it does but it just is not the same!

Ok....whining over..for now ;)

I've been craving Wendys like no other... I've been ashamed to admit it, too! I can't get enough of their spicy chicken sandwiches and fries. Oh and can't forget the Frostys... omg.. yum.

We came home from Disney 1 year ago today... ::sigh:: I wish I was there now. I've been in seriousl Dis-mode lately.. music, DVR'ed WDW shows... you name it.

This reminded me of an article I recently read about the "Mc10:35" sandwich. Apparently you go to McDonald's as the last of the breakfast is being sold and lunch is being started (around 10:35)....you then combine an Egg McMuffin and a McDouble sandwich. If that combo doesn't sound like the craving of a pregnant woman, I don't know what does!

OMG.. that is right up DH's alley. I immediately thought of him when I read this. He loves cheesesteaks with eggs in them, and he's recently discovered Wawa Italian hoagies with eggs in it... OMG.. BARF!! I swear, he's pregnant, too.

I've never heard of mixing breakfast and lunch in one order - I love their hashbrown potato patty thingy.....:)

Ohhh...hash browns... nom nom nom.

Have to vent! Some part on our water heater decided to break this morning and we have no hot water.... Lovely! Oh gosh!! I hope it gets fixed today!

I'm sorry about the bedrest, been there done that. No fun. I agree about the food kicks, though.. I do the same thing. I'm also eating ice cream like it's my job!

Sorry this took so long...I'll explain.

Welcome! :goodvibes

Congratulations!!

Oh hun... I'm sorry that you had to go through all that. I'd have been so mad at his ex-wife!! When do you go home?

I'm glad you didn't get sick durig the GTT. I think mine is on the 28th, I have to call to make sure. Not looking forward to that one!

I totally know what you mean about the junk room. I don't know what we're going to do with all this stuff, especially the pink stuff. I'm seriosuly thinking of having a #3 at this point, lol-- and going all out to try for a girl, lol.
We just have so much *stuff.* I wish we had a basement or an attic!

Mothers Day was a big bust here, I cleared out all of yesterday to do smoething with MIL and DH's Grandma, and they at the last minute decided that they were giong to do something with SIL and her DH. Ugh. Oh, and not invite us. Lovely. DH and I are a bit miffed, to say the least, this happens on most holidays. SIL is a brown-noser and has a lot of nice things (and massive credit card debt, but I digress...) so MIL and Grandma bend over backwards for her. I don't get it. At least I got to go to the Disney store and get a few tshirts for myself, and a little swim outfit for the little man. AHhh well. Such is life.

Pretty much a bust here too. DH had to travel for work and left yesterday, so my mom picked me and DD up in the morning and we drove to San Antonio to visit my grandmothers (92 and 87 yo!). The whole drive was uncomfortable and then the whole visit was somewhat depressing. My mother's mother (92) has kind of deteriorated since the fall and I wonder how much longer she'll actually be with us. My father's mother is a bit of a strained relationship with me. I am just not the good Catholic granddaughter I should be I suppose, but the biggest issue is that since my dad died, everything is even more forced. I love her dearly, but I hate visiting. I feel like I have to walk on eggshells and watch everything I say. Not to mention that my mom had to take me over there and my parents have been divorced for 22 years or something... At least everyone pretends to get along, but it's still uncomfortable.

Anyway, hope all the other moms had better mother's days! Mine wasn't bad, I just would have preferred it was a "regular" day.

Question for you guys about sleeping... Do you ever get really bad pains when you switch positions while sleeping? I get these low groin cramps at least once per night when I try to switch sides. I usually have to just lay there for several minutes until I can force myself through the pain. I also wake up on my back all the time (oddly I sleep for longer stretches when I sleep on my back) and when I switch to the side I have a lot of pain while my insides "shift". I also might be the only person who can't stand putting a pillow under her belly while on my side... it literally feels like my skin is ripping when I do that.

Ok, enough b****ing.

I had a great mothers day. Church, lunch out at a nice restaurant, and then a 2 hour nap. Then DH loaded up all our garage sale stuff and we took it took church with us. Our church is doing a fundraiser for Children's Ministries. So I have more space in my garage and my car can go back inside.

Cravings- I have to admit I've been loving Wendy's Spicy Chicken and Bacon Deluxe. I'm trying to avoid it now. At my last appointment I had gained 4 lbs in 5 weeks.

Amy- It's amazing what junk we keep in our house. I went through our office room, now nursery and put some of it in my garage sale pile. I now have a desk in DD's room and 2 desks in my living room. I was really worried about fitting everything in the house, but it's worked out fairly well. I actually prefer being able to be in the living room on the computer rather than in a room. The only drawback is when Dd watches TV and she turns it up really loud.

I moved everything about 2 weeks ago, but finally got around to mopping the floors in the nursery today. I also pulled out all the baby stuff and started washing the covers for the swing and bouncer, as well as all the used clothes I've picked up. I know I have lots of time, but it's so nice to see everything coming together.

Wow you ladies have been busy while I was gone! I'll be around this week until Wednesday, then it's off to Disneyland and Mexico! :woohoo:

I just wanted to check in and say that all is ok with me and baby-girl-no-name, and I'll be back after I read all of your posts! :goodvibes

I'm home now so back to a life with power and heat thank goodness. My bf said the power company was coming today to hook it up so hopefully they do!

I'm sorry you had bad mom's days. You need kids like my sister and I! My parents came home from WDW yesterday and we got my mom a Happy Mothers Day balloon and one of those Cherry Pies you get from a gas station and brought it to the airport with us to pick them up. My dad got a Welcome Home balloon and Reeses Peanut Butter Cups.

Nette - I have the most ridiculous time rolling over at night. Pain in my side down through my lower abdomen into my groin. I've taken to sitting up and moving to my side, it helps...a little. I also can't sleep with a pillow under my belly, I find it incredibly uncomfortable. And, I find myself on my back a lot too. I know we're not supposed to sleep like that but I can't help where I roll in my sleep. Trying to get any kind of sleep is difficult anyway though!

And I saw my OB today. He had no reaction to the labor I was in last weekend, didn't even check to see if I was thinned out more or anything. He did say however that he didn't think it would be long before I was in labor again and this time we wouldn't stop it. So...I'm crossing my fingers it's sometime within the next 2 weeks, I'm absolutely ready to be done!

I know I should plan on not having a shower, but a few people have asked what we need, and I didnt know what to tell them.
I would just tell them what you need most. It sounds like you have the biggest items, and I wouldn't count on a baby shower if you don't think it's going to happen, even though it would be nice. I would rather be prepared and have to return things than not be prepared.

We had our ultrasound this morning and we are having a BOY!!! Yay!!!

Congratulations!!!:banana: Looks like I have the only girl in September so far!

I have a question for all of you... I actually started a thread asking about it, but it ended up turning into a mom vs. mom battle which was not my intent.....
Have any of you decided not to return to work after having your baby? And if so, how are you handling telling work? I always thought that I would return to work, but now we're thinking differently. Right now my thoughts are to return to work on my scheduled day (my mom or mother-in-law will stay with baby) and give my two weeks’ notice....
What do you all think of that? How are you planning on handling it?

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Sorry your thread went bad, I'm always leary of the CB for that reason. :sad2: Like many of the others, I also don't have the option of not going back to work. I make more than 50% of our income, and all benefits are not through my job. I would worry about giving notice on your 1st day back that you may end up having to pay for any time off you were given and for questions on benefits if they are through your work.

So yesterday from about 2pm - 6pm I had BH about 10 minutes apart consistently. I didn't call the doctor. I'm trying not to panic over every little thing, and I know w/ DD I had BH contractions for long spurts of regularity towards the end. Though, I don't think it ever happened as early as 30.5 weeks.
Someone tell me the BH thing is normal. I'm freaking out this morning.

I think it's normal, but have you called your dr yet?

Speaking of doctors....I had my 12 week appt this morning. Things look great - this baby is a wiggling fool :) I can't wait to feel all those wiggles and kicks and punches. My doctor is having me come back in another two weeks mostly for my comfort because she is having me stop the progesterone too. (Woohooo!!! - I am super excited about that!) So I just have to say I really love my new doctor.

Great news!!

The one baby shower we have had so far ended up a lot like my bridal shower and our wedding gifts... 90% of the gifts were gift cards and cash, even though we registered at two stores.

Sweet - I would love to have so many gift cards and cash!

Last Wednesday I went to bed feeling a little off and woke up with fever and chills. Well that lasted til Sunday! Do you know how crappy it is to be 24w pregnant with a fever that won't go away? Hot, cold; sweaty, chills. Neither the ER docs nor my OB could figure out what was wrong with me.

Sorry to hear you've been sick, that really sucks! I just got back from a business trip and DS was sick all weekend, so I'm just praying I don't get anything since we are leaving in 3 days!

RE: a 2nd baby shower....... Is that the norm where some of you live? It is pretty much unheard of around here. The only time I've heard of a second baby shower is if there is a very large age difference between the kids, like 10years.

Quick question - HAIR! Do any of you color your hair? Is it safe? I'm talking all over color from a box, not highlights. I really need to b/c I have a lot of gray. :sad2: I've been reading that it sounds Ok after the 1st trimester. Any opinions?

I looked where you are from, and I also lived in the suburbs of Chicago for over 25 years and thought 2nd showers were unheard of, except in cases of big age gaps. But out here, they seem more common. I still don't think I'll get one, though don't have too many friends or family out here. Luckily, DS is only 3 so I still have all of his big items.

As for hair color, I color my hair. I read tons of info on the internet, and asked my prior OB when pg with DS, and all seemed to indicate that the chemicals used now don't get into your body and won't impact the baby. I also asked my hairdresser this last time (waited until 2nd trimester to be safe), and she said they are specially trained on that at beauty school now and that it is safe. :thumbsup2

DH flip flopped again and isn't wild about #3 (even after he said we could try) and now I don't know what to do with all her stuff.

I would just keep it all until you decide, if you have space. If not, pick out your favorite outfits and give away or sell the rest.

Welcome! :goodvibes I was diagnosed with GD during my 1st pregnancy, but it was later found to be a mis-diagnosis and just cutting back on juice made my #s within the "normal" range. I'm curious to find out if previous GD makes it more likely in subsequent pregnancies...

Hi everyone!!

Just wanted to share the news!

We went to the doctor today, and:

IT'S A BOY!!!

Now, the baby naming games begin!:woohoo:

Congrats!! Welcome to the boy team! lol (or we're happy you're staying on the blue team?) Lots of boys floating around September! DH just found out his buddy's wife is having a boy in September, too!

Let us know what names you like-- we can't come up with much!

WTH? I can't believe he had no reaction... that is insane. I'm so glad you made it home safe and sound though.

And I would love to be greeted w/ a balloon and a cherry pie! (or anything sweet at this point. :) ) Good daughter!

We have a boy (8) and a girl (6) already, so this is boy #2 for us!:scared1:

Boys are a handful, or at least my first was!! My daughter is super easy on me!

Names are tough, because I am picky! I do not like trendy names. I like old English ones. William, Christopher, Jonathan, Jacob and Benjamin are the frontrunners. Although, I really like the name Cooper, which is super trendy and totally against my previous statement. My kids don't like Cooper at all...they have only known 1 Cooper, a girl!!!

Good luck baby naming!!!

I hope my kids turn out like you and your sis! :) That's quite a welcome home!

Ugh... I'd want to smack your OB! Hey, as soon as the baby is born, you get to deal with him once more at your 6-week checkup and ... Sayonara, sucka!

Congrats on having a boy!

Finding names is so much fun. We finally seem to agree on a name at its Daniel Edward. And no its not after the Twilight Character, but my grandfather who passed away last year. We do have a dog named Bella though. So we will end up with a Bella and Edward. lol. It really was not intentional.

LOL you're on both teams already!

DD is a handful, I am scared that this little boy is going to be even more of a handful! :scared1: I'm really really hoping he'll be laid-back. DD was a very very easy baby though, so hopefully we'll keep that going. ;)

Benjamin is one of DH's faves, too. My aunt likes Jacob, but I can't help but think of a certain werewolf when I think of Jacob! LOL. I like Nathan, but there's already one of those in the (extended) family... so who knows. We liked Logan and Luke too, but man they're so popular now!

Cooper reminds me of Anderson Cooper (granted that's his last name) but... purrrrrr. He's handsome.
