Moms to be Part 4

Zachary was born late last night! I went into labor around 5am and got checked at the doctor at 8. They sent me over and I had my epi by about 10. I wasn't making a ton of progress so they broke my water. Still no more progress, so they added pitocin. When I was finally ready to push at 8pm, his head just stopped moving down. So...csection at about 10. Happy cinco de mayo! He was 7lbs 12oz and 21 inches. I'm crazy about him!

Congratulations!! :cheer2::cheer2: Can't wait to see pictures!

Congrats on having a boy!

Finding names is so much fun. We finally seem to agree on a name at its Daniel Edward. And no its not after the Twilight Character, but my grandfather who passed away last year. We do have a dog named Bella though. So we will end up with a Bella and Edward. lol. It really was not intentional.

Teehee, had to giggle at that one.

Hi everyone!!

Just wanted to share the news!

We went to the doctor today, and:

IT'S A BOY!!!

Now, the baby naming games begin!:woohoo:

Yea!! Another boy!! DH and I are having a hard time picking out a name for our little guy too. We definitely lean towards names that are more uncommon, but not unheard of.

Cooper reminds me of Anderson Cooper (granted that's his last name) but... purrrrrr. He's handsome.
:rotfl: :rotfl2: You mean you don't watch his show to get the latest news reports??

Went to the doc today and took the glucose test. Hopefully it will come back with normal results.....I guess I'll know in about a week. I actually took the test already when I was about 19 weeks along, since I had GD last pregnancy. I passed that one, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I passed this one too! :)

All else went well. Baby seems to be doing well and the doc said everything looked good. :goodvibes Can't ask for better results than that.

What do you mean 'news reports'? ;)

With my last one my SIL actually intimated I would consider an abortion because it wasn't a girl! Can't even tell you how upset I was!

Wow that SIL was way out of line - what a ridiculous thing to say!

Okay ladies - what on earth is going on? I have been so looking forward to hitting 12 weeks and consequently the nausea and exhaustion subsiding. But this week I have spent more time hanging out in the ladies room than I have the prior 9 weeks!!

I have heard from a lot of people that the 1st trimester doesn't end until you hit 14 weeks, but there seems to be no set date for the end of morning sickness. I hope yours eases soon!

2) There is a restaurant around here called Chuy's. It's tex-mex and they have the best green chili rice and green chili warm salsa. I want both. NOW.

Hmm, we have some Chuy's around here too, I wonder if it's the same? :confused3 That green chili stuff sounds good!

I'm not really craving anything weird, just fruit and french fries with ketchup. Not at the same time. My biggest aversion seems to be all fast/greasy food - I feel horrible after I eat anything like that.

My preggo pants from my last pregnancy aren't fitting. :lmao:

Ugh, me neither! I was only about 5 lbs smaller pre-pregnancy from this to the first pregnancy, but many of my pants just aren't fitting. I think it's because I'm carrying this one so much higher. Funny thing, while I've been in maternity pants for almost 2 months now, maternity tops STILL don't fit - they're all way too big and long!

I think I'm just really cranky today too. I was supposed to be going to Disney tomorrow with dd and a friend and her dd. Well first my friend cancelled - which I completely understood. And quite honestly I'm a little resentful.....I NEED a break and I wanted to go to my happy place :headache:

Sorry about the cancelled vacation, that really stinks!

I forgot to add ketchup. I have been eating tons of it. I *HATE* ketchup. :confused3

That is so funny!

This reminded me of an article I recently read about the "Mc10:35" sandwich. Apparently you go to McDonald's as the last of the breakfast is being sold and lunch is being started (around 10:35)....you then combine an Egg McMuffin and a McDouble sandwich. If that combo doesn't sound like the craving of a pregnant woman, I don't know what does!

That sounds pretty disgusting to me right now, and I usually like Egg McMuffins. Last pregnancy I went to a McD's at 10:32 and they wouldn't serve me breakfast so I cried. :sad1: stupid pregnancy cravings and hormones.

Have to vent! Some part on our water heater decided to break this morning and we have no hot water.... Lovely! We were able to get a repair guy out to look at it, but sadly they won't be able to get a replacement part until Monday... Ughh. I was able to take what I refer to as a 'bird bath' and wash my hair, but this is going to be a long and icky weekend.:sad2:

That sucks! I hope you get it fixed today!

In other news, still on bedrest. Blood pressure is still high and bedrest alone is not bringing it down so I'm supposed to start medicine for it now. Now I have to have twice-weekly visits, non-stress tests, labs, etc. My dr also did the strep-b test this week, because they said that if labor starts after 36 weeks they won't stop it and so it was best to do the test a bit early and know now.

Sorry about the bp and bedrest, but glad to hear your LO is still in there cooking! :goodvibes

But...this was after the power was shut off on Thursday morning around 10:15 while I was home alone and had not had a chance to shower yet.
Honestly, I could have killed his ex-wife.

Stupid ex-wife drama, I hate when people are petty with things like that. They're not the ones affected, so it's like they don't care!

Long weekend here. I started cleaning out our office (AKA junk room) which is going to be the nursery.

My mom brought us a bunch of clothes she got and a swing and bouncy seat for the baby this weekend. Our Bulldog puppy loves the bouncy seat, he crawled in it and started to play, LOL.

Yay for cleaning out your "junk" room! That will be my next project when we get back from vacation!

LOL at the puppy in the bouncy seat! :rotfl:

Mothers Day was a big bust here, I cleared out all of yesterday to do smoething with MIL and DH's Grandma, and they at the last minute decided that they were giong to do something with SIL and her DH. Ugh. Oh, and not invite us. Lovely. DH and I are a bit miffed, to say the least, this happens on most holidays. SIL is a brown-noser and has a lot of nice things (and massive credit card debt, but I digress...) so MIL and Grandma bend over backwards for her. I don't get it. At least I got to go to the Disney store and get a few tshirts for myself, and a little swim outfit for the little man. AHhh well. Such is life.

Sorry for the Mother's Day drama, at least you got to enjoy yourself a little!

Pretty much a bust here too. DH had to travel for work and left yesterday, so my mom picked me and DD up in the morning and we drove to San Antonio to visit my grandmothers (92 and 87 yo!). The whole drive was uncomfortable and then the whole visit was somewhat depressing.
At least everyone pretends to get along, but it's still uncomfortable.

Question for you guys about sleeping... Do you ever get really bad pains when you switch positions while sleeping?

Sorry about your Mother's Day too, it's always difficult to spend days like that.

As for sleeping, I find laying down more and more difficult these days, even though I am not that big yet, and constantly have people telling me they think I am too small for how far I am (which is another vent I'm not in the mood for today).

I had a great mothers day. Church, lunch out at a nice restaurant, and then a 2 hour nap. Then DH loaded up all our garage sale stuff and we took it took church with us. Our church is doing a fundraiser for Children's Ministries. So I have more space in my garage and my car can go back inside.

Yay for a good mother's day!!

I'm home now so back to a life with power and heat thank goodness. My bf said the power company was coming today to hook it up so hopefully they do!

I'm sorry you had bad mom's days. You need kids like my sister and I! My parents came home from WDW yesterday and we got my mom a Happy Mothers Day balloon and one of those Cherry Pies you get from a gas station and brought it to the airport with us to pick them up. My dad got a Welcome Home balloon and Reeses Peanut Butter Cups.

And I saw my OB today. He had no reaction to the labor I was in last weekend, didn't even check to see if I was thinned out more or anything. He did say however that he didn't think it would be long before I was in labor again and this time we wouldn't stop it. So...I'm crossing my fingers it's sometime within the next 2 weeks, I'm absolutely ready to be done!

Yay for electricity! Sounds like you and your sister know how to treat your mom! :thumbsup2

As for the OB, my last office was very relaxed like that, especially towards the end. Sounds like you're ready to go any day now!

Hi everyone!!

Just wanted to share the news!

We went to the doctor today, and:

IT'S A BOY!!!

Now, the baby naming games begin!:woohoo:

Congratulations!!!

Names are tough, because I am picky! I do not like trendy names. I like old English ones. William, Christopher, Jonathan, Jacob and Benjamin are the frontrunners. Although, I really like the name Cooper, which is super trendy and totally against my previous statement. My kids don't like Cooper at all...they have only known 1 Cooper, a girl!!!

I like the same types of names, Benjamin was one of my frontrunners for DS#1! :thumbsup2 My only issue with the name is that our last name starts with an "S" so his initials would be "BS":rotfl2:

Finding names is so much fun. We finally seem to agree on a name at its Daniel Edward. And no its not after the Twilight Character, but my grandfather who passed away last year. We do have a dog named Bella though. So we will end up with a Bella and Edward. lol. It really was not intentional.

Daniel was my first choice for a boy name, after my mom's grandfather, but DH already has a 12 yo nephew named Daniel, so we took it off the list. Lol at Edward and Bella! :rotfl:

Benjamin is one of DH's faves, too. My aunt likes Jacob, but I can't help but think of a certain werewolf when I think of Jacob! LOL. I like Nathan, but there's already one of those in the (extended) family... so who knows. We liked Logan and Luke too, but man they're so popular now!

My mom just sent me an article that said Jacob was the most popular name of 2009, but I still like it! :thumbsup2 I've never seen/read Twilight, so the name doesn't have that association for me.

Sounds good, hope you passed this GD test as well!

That's awesome news! Keep us posted on the GTT! I was borderline with the last pregnancy, I'm a little afraid with this one!

What is this little girl doing inside me?!? I swear it feels like there is a vibrator in my stomach!

My mother's day wasn't too good either. DS was sick, so we didn't do anything but run some quick errands for our trip this week. He goes back an forth when he is sick, from lying down doing nothing one minute, to a raging beast the next, so it was not an easy day.

One of our cars was acting up on Saturday so we had to drop it off at the dealer yesterday too. Fun day!

I did get a nice present for Mother's Day though - it's a heart necklace/locket that is clear and it has a purple stone inside it (for DS's birth stone), and we can add another when DD is born! :goodvibes I don't usually like the typical "Mom" necklaces, but this one is much more my style! :thumbsup2 I would say, nice job DH, but I know my sister picked it out. ;)

Sorry about the bad Mother's Days. My hubby tried to make mine good, but I got sick. It wasn't bad - just pregnant!

My in-laws always get me a nice mother's Day present, though, which always seems weird to me. We get MIL something, too, so we end up trading presents. I appreciate it, though. I am their only chance at grandchildren - maybe that's why :rotfl: (SIL cant stand the thought of having kids - make me sad, but I'm glad she knows herself well enough to be honest about it)

At least I got to go to the Disney store and get a few tshirts for myself, and a little swim outfit for the little man. AHhh well. Such is life.

Do they have maternity stuff, or were they normal shirts? I haven't looked.

Question for you guys about sleeping... Do you ever get really bad pains when you switch positions while sleeping? I get these low groin cramps at least once per night when I try to switch sides. I usually have to just lay there for several minutes until I can force myself through the pain. I also wake up on my back all the time (oddly I sleep for longer stretches when I sleep on my back) and when I switch to the side I have a lot of pain while my insides "shift". I also might be the only person who can't stand putting a pillow under her belly while on my side... it literally feels like my skin is ripping when I do that.

I have the same thing, too, although I don't think it hurts as bad as you are describing. Still enough to interrupt sleep and hurt, though. I can't do a pillow under my stomach, either, but for some reason a fairly flat pillow between my knees helps. Have you tried that? I'm not doing that yet with this one, but it helped a lot with the first two.

Hi everyone!!

Just wanted to share the news!

We went to the doctor today, and:

IT'S A BOY!!!

Congratulations :cheer2: Ack, baby names! I am thinking I'm going to end up with "Baby Boy ..." on the birth ceftificate!

TSRE-- I just size 2XL shirts, they didn't have maternity. I figured it was good enough, especially for $8. LOL.

Ack, I just wrote a long update post and the internet ate it!

So, quick synopsis- 27 weeks, had my 1 hr glucose challenge test last Friday and found out today that I passed (I got 98 and they want below 140) but that I do have low iron so I have to pick up a supplement. Though I've popped, I still feel small compared to other women but my fundal height was 27 cm at my apppintment, so all is well. Squirt has definitely been very active and DH loves watching my belly move when she squirms. We have most of the big stuff for her (furniture, travel system, high chair, bouncer, etc.) but really need to clean out her room so we can actually set it all up!

My Mother's Day present is something that I get to share with my mom- we get to go see "Wicked" when it's here this fall! We saw it in Chicago and loved it! It was DH's idea to send my mom and me and he got my dad to agree. So, mom and I need to choose the date and buy our tickets.

That about sums it up here (other than the usual pregnancy stuff- hard time sleeping, constant peeing, constant sneezing/blowing nose, etc.). Hope everyone else is doing well!

Hello ladies!
Well I bought some maternity clothes this weekend. I was just going to pick up a few T-Shirts, Motherhood had a decent price on them, but while their DH says "How about some pants....that's what you have been struggling with".....Thanks sweetie  But I am happy he is supportive of me and it was nice to go and pick up a couple of pairs of nice work capris too.
Since I was supposed to be in Disney right now I am at home and today got my side of our closet cleaned out and am getting ready to try and talk DD into helping me with hers. I had DH's permission to do his, but I honestly just really need his input. So far I have a pretty big box almost full of stuff for goodwill.
So is anyone else reconsidering their crib? I was just planning on using the one we had for DD (who slept in it maybe 5 times so is still like new even if it will be 7 years old) but after seeing all the controversy on the cribs with drop sides currently I'm reconsidering. I'll have to check and see if ours is recalled of course....but if it isn't I'm just not sure. So what are your thoughts on the cribs with a drop side?
I'm really stressing about how we are going to make our house work with this new baby. It's a tiny 2BR1Bath that is under 900 square foot. To make matters worse we have so much crap that it is always a mess NOW....I can't imagine adding baby gear right now. ARGH!! So anyway I'm trying to do some major decluttering in preparation, just not overly confident it's going to work.
Hope everyone is doing great!
Amanda

yay for a good dr visit. I loved Wicked when I saw it in Chicago a few years ago, I think 2006-ish b/c I'm pretty sure I wasn't even pregnant with DS3 yet!

It's hard to move into maternity clothes the first time. Lol at your DH's comment about pants, but I have to agree with him that pants were a way bigger problem for me too! :rotfl:

As for the crib, we just bought DS's in late 2009, so it is still in really good shape. It is a drop-side, but I know it hasn't been on the recall list, so we plan to use it again. Though I kind of want a white crib to match DD's room better, but that probably won't happen.

Since yours is 7 years old, I would definitely check for recalls first. If there haven't been any on your model, would it make you feel better if you keep the drop side stationary and never raise or lower it? Our mattress is a little too wide for our crib, so we weren't able to move it up and down with the mattress in place. I can't recall, what was the reason for all the recalls on drop side cribs?

Definitely check for recalls, but if it's not recalled I would go ahead and use it. I ended up getting an older used crib at a resale shop that also has drop sides. It's a bassett crib and in good condition. I paid $135 for the crib and mattress.

I've picked up some good buys at yard sales and resale shops. I'm trying to save money for the important things like baby's first trip to Disney.

I can never pass up a shirt that is that cheap :lovestruc

I am probably the only person in the world that feels this way, but I love the maternity clothes this time around. My youngest is almost 8, and the clothes back then (makes me sound like I'm 80 :rotfl:) were soooo much worse than they are now. The pants with the HUGE panel and a drawstring, in hot cotton, and never any pockets even for looks. And never a shirt long enough - I swear every picture of me in the last month had the panel sticking out. I love the Old Navy tanks and some of the dresses and stuff, and just how much there is now compared to before, without spending major $. Good thing, too, I guess, since I got big so fast with this one that DH was convinced it had to be twins. I've been in Maternity stuff since 10 weeks, and can't wear anything regular now, at least not comfortably.

Good luck with the decluttering!

Yeah, we never dropped the sides on ours either even though we could - just never seemed necessary. I think when DH put it together for 2nd DS, he actually made it stationary bc I knew I wouldn't use it. I can't remember why they were recalled either?

So, a stomach bug hit me last night right after I ate dinner. That was fun. I'm feeling a lot better today. Just tried to eat a little soup so hopefully that stays put in my stomach.

Is there anything I should worry about? I've been drinking diluted gaterade since the middle of the night so I am keeping hydrated.

I completely agree. My DD is 7, will be 8 when the baby is born. My maternity clothes were soooo ugly. I had short sleeved cotton shirts that are sooo heavy. I can't believe I even wore them.

My cousin gave me her maternity clothes which are about 4 years old and they are so much more comfortable.

I wish all jeans were as comfortable as maternity jeans!

Ugh... feel better soon.

I'm another with a DD that will be 8 right after baby was born and my old maternity clothes were crazy ugly and really heavy... and it's not like it was a different time of year.

Unfortunately, I'm too far gone to actually spend money on new clothes at this point... so I'm living in the same 4 shirts + two of DHs tees that are so comfy. And I'm down to only one pair of maternity jeans that I can stand to wear... so that's fun. Lots of loads of laundry at our house.

Hi everyone!!

Just wanted to share the news!

We went to the doctor today, and:

IT'S A BOY!!!

Now, the baby naming games begin!:woohoo:

Yay! Congrats!

WTH? I can't believe he had no reaction... that is insane. I'm so glad you made it home safe and sound though.

And I would love to be greeted w/ a balloon and a cherry pie! (or anything sweet at this point. :) ) Good daughter!

I couldn't believe it either. I'm glad I made it home too...I was experiencing some back pain and cramps yesterday but they went away while I was sleeping (or attempting sleep) so I think I was just worn out!

My poor mom is sick now so I don't think she's had a chance to enjoy her cherry pie but I know she was super suprised to see it!

I hope my kids turn out like you and your sis! :) That's quite a welcome home!

Ugh... I'd want to smack your OB! Hey, as soon as the baby is born, you get to deal with him once more at your 6-week checkup and ... Sayonara, sucka!

I'm sure they will. If you're loving and supportive they'll turn out the same way!! I did want to smack him, my BF hates him and he hasn't even met him. I can't wait to be done with this pregnancy!

Stupid ex-wife drama, I hate when people are petty with things like that. They're not the ones affected, so it's like they don't care!

Yay for electricity! Sounds like you and your sister know how to treat your mom! :thumbsup2

As for the OB, my last office was very relaxed like that, especially towards the end. Sounds like you're ready to go any day now!

She doesn't get it. She just lost her job too to top it all off. So now she's going to be asking him for money everytime she takes their son. He's taking her back to court for the back child support and he's going to try for sole custody, I don't blame him...we're both sick of dealing with her!

I am ready. I keep going shopping just so I can walk and maybe jump start labor again, I'm sick of feeling feet in my ribs 24/7 :rotfl:

I hope everyone is having a good week!

Sorry you're feeling sick. I think the big thing is to make sure you stay hydrated, which it sounds like you're doing.

My SIL loves her maternity jeans so much, she had her baby 2 months ago and swears she is never going back to regular jeans! :rotfl:

I am ready. I keep going shopping just so I can walk and maybe jump start labor again, I'm sick of feeling feet in my ribs 24/7 :rotfl:

I hope the walking works for you! Nothing worked for me with DS. The only thing that I think may have helped was we BD'd on valentine's day, and my water broke less than 10 hours later, but I still never went into labor. :headache:
