Wow you ladies have been busy while I was gone! I'll be around this week until Wednesday, then it's off to Disneyland and Mexico! :woohoo:

I just wanted to check in and say that all is ok with me and baby-girl-no-name, and I'll be back after I read all of your posts! :goodvibes

Have a wonderful trip! :) Can't wait to hear about it when you get back. I have to live vicariously through others since I don't have any vacations planned for the time being. :sad1:

:flower3: Good morning everyone!

Good Morning! I'm in such a fog today. It's gloomy and rainy here, so the house is dark... I guess that would explain some of my fogginess!

I'm trying to decide if I should use my BRU store credit to buy the Mickey carseat we want, or if we should save the store credit for things we need later. I've been debating on this for weeks now, lol.

Other than that, my aunt visited yesterday and we got a lot of cleaning done-- I've been exhausted and slacking. :rotfl:

Pollito-- Enjoy your vaca!! :)

Mine seems so far off I haven't been able to plan a thing yet!

I want to update the due date/gender list... who/what am I missing?

I don't think I'm on the list yet. I'm due August 11th and it is most definitely a boy. He really has no modesty at this point. ;) At every u/s the tech laughs and says, "Yep, it's a boy!"

Awesome. I'll add you. :) Haha, DD nor DS-to-be have any modesty. LMAO I cant help but think that DS is related to Ron Jeremy in some way... :scared1:

Hey everyone.. Quick question: can they tell the sex at 16 weeks or will we have to wait till July to find out? Thanks.

Hey everyone.. Quick question: can they tell the sex at 16 weeks or will we have to wait till July to find out? Thanks.

I found out at 17 weeks, but at our 11 week u/s, the tech suggested that we had a "boy part!"

The only catch to finding out at 17 weeks is that it was at one of the 3D/4D ultrasound places, and we paid out of pocket. :goodvibes Ours was about $100, but in certain areas of the country, some places do it as low as $40!

I hope the walking works for you! Nothing worked for me with DS. The only thing that I think may have helped was we BD'd on valentine's day, and my water broke less than 10 hours later, but I still never went into labor. :headache:

Well nothing has worked yet. I'm going to try the spicy food trick tonight! Last time was because I was dehydrated and if it weren't so dangerous for me and my DD I'd just stop drinking water, but I don't want problems so I just keep on drinking that water!

Thanks for the good vibes ladies! Still on bedrest, but all of my leave is approved and short-term disability squared away, so all of that is a relief. I also had a great baby shower from my work friends today - it was nice to get out for a little bit and see them again.

I'm seeing the doctor twice a week now - blood pressure meds twice a day, twice-weekly non-stress tests, weekly labwork and 24-hour urine tests. Luckily it's all just been blood pressure and no protein/kidney issues yet. And the group strep B results came back negative, so that's good news too. My doctor says if things don't get worse and my cervix is favorable, he'd like to induce around 39 weeks.

So that's made me a little panicky-feeling as it's even closer! This is my first and I'm still pretty apprehensive about the whole birth process. I'm trying to get together a list of things I will need in the hospital and after the birth for myself. So far, I know I will want my own gown in the hospital so I picked up a couple of long t-shirt style nightshirts (I'm not breastfeeding as I've had a reduction in the past and don't want to struggle through it) and some sports bras. I've also started making a list of things to pick up with other post-partum thoughts in mind. It might be TMI but the thought of the bathroom after birth is almost as scary to me as birth itself! So my list includes things like shredded mini wheats, stool softeners, tucks pads, witch hazel, regular pads, milk of magnesia, a squeezy water bottle, wet wipes, and things like nursing pads and fresh cabbage to help with pain while my milk dries up. Anything other recommendations from moms who have BTDT?

Sorry to hear you're still on bedrest, but glad everything seems to be under control. I was on bedrest for a good portion of my last pregnancy, and even going to the doc's office became a treat.....just to get out of the house! :upsidedow

When I had DS, one of the things I didn't pack, but wish I had, was snacks! This time I'll pack a box of granola bars, or a favorite treat, just to have when I get the munchies.

Also, flip flops were a great thing to have. Obviously easy on and off, great to use in the shower (the shower in my room just looked icky ), and by the time I went home, my feet had swelled so much that those were the only shoes I could fit on my feet. :scared:

Hope this helps! :goodvibes

I had to share this with people who would understand- I was with my mom the other day at the PX (our real destination was the commissary for cheap hamburger but I digress!) and they had the Graco Mickey Mouse in the House collection on sale! We ended up getting the stroller (here's a link to it on Walmart's website- http://www.walmart.com/ip/Graco-Mosaic-Stroller-Mickey-Mouse-in-the-House/12537635 ) to keep at grandma's house (it'll fit our snugride car seat) since she'll be our baby sitter and we tend to spend a lot of time up there anyway. We're still trying to decide if we want to get the pack n' play as well.

I was just so excited about our Disney baby-related purchase that I had to share with people who might understand!

I had my weekly doctor's appointment yesterday and it was pretty uneventful... My BP has gone down, but is still higher than they'd like. The amount of protein in my urine has gone down, but it's still more than they would like.... I'm continuing with weekly 24 hour urine test and now we're doing nst(s) twice a week. We did get the final word from my regular doctor (she was out last week) that they will be inducing me at 37 weeks... It looks like I'll be going in on June 7... It's kind of nice to be able to plan for that. My family lives in Texas and my husband's lives in Pennsylvania, so it was kind of nice to be able to tell them to start looking at plane tickets. On the other hand it is TERRIBLY scary because that is three weeks less than we thought we had. I'm glad that I was obsessed about having things done months ago, I really can't think of anything else we really need....

Questions for the mommys to be that are already moms... What did you pack in your hospital bag? What did you pack that you didn't really need, and what did you wish you had packed?

I can't really remember what I packed. But I know I *didn't* pack good pajamas. My mother actually went to Target in the middle of the night one night and bought me 2 pairs of comfy jersey knit shorts and a button down nightshirt. They made my whole hospital stay WAY better. I would also recommend a good bra that will air dry quickly. The nursing bras I had bought were cotton and if I leaked on them then they were wet for HOURS. Even if you aren't planning on nursing the baby, a bra that dries quickly will be a huge comfort I'd think.

Sheesh. I was only stuck at the hospital for 5 nights you'd think I'd remember more...

The nurses at the hospital will probably load you up on colace while you're there. They definitely did with me! Probably not a bad idea to have at home. Soothies (by Lansinoh) nursing pads rock, they're gel pads and you don't leak, and they feel nice and cool. I wore them for probably a year after DD's birth, LOL.

I'd definitely bring some slippers and flip flops. Oh! and shampoo and conditioner, and your own hairdryer.

That's awesome you got your short-term disability all squared away, I wish I had that when I was preggo and on bedrest with DD!

ITA about the snacks!

Oh I love that stroller. Did you see this one? http://www.walmart.com/ip/Safety-1s...0000003260330&ci_src=14110944&ci_sku=13341194 OMG it's super cute. There's the whole set, too!

I'm gonna buy the Mickey carseat, but I'm torn about the pack and play. I kinda wanted the 'newborn napper' in it, but then the mickey is so cute.

I wish I'd packed at all... lol, she was early and we didn't expect to *stay* at the hospital. I wish I had packed nightgowns or long t-shirts, my own shorts, undies (of course) socks, slippers, flip flops, snacks, shampoo, conditioner, hairdryer, clothes for baby for a few nights and take-home outfit.

I can't really remember what I packed. But I know I *didn't* pack good pajamas. Haha I hear ya, I thought I'd remember more too. But this was 3 years ago, and 3 years is a long time for my memory, lol.

My hospital stay with DD was 6 1/2 years ago - Yikes!! Like someone else had mentioned I wished I had just packed. My water broke at 38 weeks and....TMI....DH packed for me while I was sitting on the toilet :rotfl: Just FYI.....cloth diapers can be great for mom too - LOL!! I never would have made it to the hospital without one. I think comfy jammies are a must - but nothing too nice because there is a good chance they will end up ruined. I'd definitely go with a top / bottom set. I felt more "covered" that way once we were past the getting checked stage. The hospital issued one is great for labor though since they were sticking monitors on me, checking me, etc so they had "easy access". Also I would definitely make sure you had your own preferred feminine products. A camera, extra batteries and storage cards, and a list of the pictures you would like (especially if you scrapbook). I got out of the hospital and we didn't even have a picture of me, DH and DD together in the hospital. Oh....you might also want a list of the people and phone numbers you need to call to let them know about baby's arrival (of course you probably have most of them in your cell phone memory anyway). I didn't need a lot of the stuff that is recommended in books and classes...but I'm fairly low maintenance. Your own shampoo, conditioner would be nice.....and you'll probably want some make-up.....I didn't with DD and boy do I wish I would have. (And I hardly wear makeup) Snacks are always good! Really all you will truly NEED are things to make you more comfortable during your stay. Any true necessity the hospital will provide for you.....but you will definitely want some of your own stuff. I'm just trying to say not to stress over what you might have forgotten....you'll be taken care of. And you can always send someone out for things if needed. Oh...one last thing....if you have not installed the carseat yet I would do so now. Although I can say now that installing a carseat really isn't that difficult I could not have said that then. It was challenging for me as a first time mom.

I hadn't seen it before but I just looked at it and it's waaaaay too girly for me! We're getting all the big stuff in gender neutral so if/when we have another child, it will work for boy or girl. And we have decided to get the Mickey pack n' play so now I'm just waiting on my mom to come pick me up so we can head back to the PX to get it today (the sale ends today). It's $70 less than the original one we were going to get and the only difference (besides fabric) is that Mickey doesn't have a canopy but I can deal with that. And we probably would have gotten the car seat if we hadn't already gotten a travel system.
