Moms to be Part 4

OMG! LOL I don't think DD weighed 20lbs until she was like 18mos! Haha I couldn't have carried it either!

Lucas is 24lbs! :scared1:

I was hoping for an extra day with the twins- I was like come on, 2 babies, stay twice as long, right?? Nope. With the V delivery it feels like they are shoving you out the door. I delivered my second twin at 10:03 pm on a Monday and Wednesday morning they were like, Okay, get out! :scared1: I'm just going to be prepared for that this time around but if I had the offer to stay a little bit longer, I might take them up on it.

I know this will sound awful, but I really like to get the visiting with people over with at the hospital. It's just so much easier on me to not have them in my house and feeling like I need to feed and entertain them. Plus, they don't feel inclined to stay as long at the hospital as they do at my house where it is nice and cozy. Again, I realize that sounds just awful but I like coming home and not having to worry about visitors in addition to dealing with a newborn.

Oh and Patsy, you're not alone, I also sent my kids to the nursery. I figured after all I went through with labor and delivery, I was going to at least get as much sleep as I could while I could. Come in and wake me when baby needs to nurse, that's fine, but otherwise, let me attempt to recuperate a little bit. I mean, isn't that what I'm there for?

I did too. My Aunt brought a homemade lasagna on discharge day and that was the extent of visitors I wanted. And only because she came bearing food! :rotfl:

Yay I'm glad this thread is picking up. We all seem to be bonding. :goodvibes

I have a really really weird question-- is anyone else having scent aversions? They're not quite making me puke anymore, but man... they're really getting to me. The laundry smell is one of my worst! Soaps and shampoos are a close second. I'm using unscented everything! I was like this in my first pregnancy too, and it took almost a year to go away. Then I found Lush, this company that makes the best smelling soaps and shampoo bars... now they make me sick! LOL. Am I the only one?

Me, too!!
It's so great to have this thread to talk to other people about pregnancy! :grouphug:

Christina! Are you going to try for a VBAC if you go into labor??

I'm so excited to see little Ryan!!!!

.... I just got invited to a "Community Baby Shower" at a local church. Apparently there will be lunch, games, door prizes, and a car seat check.
I'm hoping my best friend can get the time off of work to go with me, sounds like it'll be fun!!

Patsy - That community baby shower sounds like fun!! :-) If I were to go into labor tonight ... I probably won't try for the VBAC. Seems so much easier to just have the csection!

Mrs. Charming - Of course we are bonding now, I'll be gone soon. :sad1: I am always a day late and a dollar short! :-)

We have the orginal Chicco keyfit up to 22lbs. Alex was big like Lucas. I don't remember all the way up but he was 8lbs. 13oz, 22inches at birth, 13lbs. 13oz. at one month, 16lbs 12oz at 2 months and 18lbs 12oz at 3 months and 20lbs 12oz a 4months. I only remember those because the numbers were so even!!! Needless to say, since Ryan will be born a week and half earlier I am hoping for a smaller baby and maybe one that gains just a touch slower.

Check out this chubster! This was around 4 months:

*** Will anyone else admit to craving wine or alcohol? I already have a bottle of wine ready to be chilled for next week. How sad! I don't even drink that much normally.

Here's a weird question for everyone - has anyone found that more men are showing interest in them since they have been pregnant? I have had a bunch of guys flirting with me lately - it's weird. I am thinking maybe the hormones make pregnant ladies more attractive to men? Hopefully it will stop once I start really showing. LOL

LOL, nope. Not at all. I'm definitely not my prettiest when I'm pregnant. I get fat, bloated, and kinda pasty. :confused3

Dmickey-- OMG!! What a cute lil (big?) guy!! Teehee!!

DD *just* hit 30lbs and she's like 2 3/4. OMG!! She's gonna be 3 sooner than I thought... eeep!!

You better get packing those bags, mama! I bet you're gonna have this little guy sooner than later! (Then again, I know little about contractions and timing, lol.)

I'm always the day-late-and-dollar-short gal! I figured it was just me, lol.

Oh, and yes, I defintely have had beer, wine, and pina colada cravings. I don't want the alcohol, I just want the taste. I almost bought pina colada mix at the store just to make a virgin pina colada. I've thought of buying O'Douls too. I had a few glasses of wine over the course of my pregnancy with DD.. but I'm just too freaked out to do it now.

Ohhh I hope we know as soon as you find out for sure!! :)

Absolutely!! I am not trying to be coy, I just really don't know for sure and didn't tell anyone that the tech made a guess......so excited to find out for sure though :)

I wasn't saying you were... I'd be quiet about a "guess" too :goodvibes

It's hard because I am going outlet shopping with my friends this weekend and I am so tempted to buy clothes if I see anything great......I told DH I can always save the receipts and return if I need to....

****
I was with my sister tonight and she is 38 weeks today, had an internal and not dilated at all. We actually have the same OB and he's away next week so he said he'd see her again on Friday and he's on call this weekend so she's hoping to go before he leaves or wait until he gets back.

I'm guilty of that.

I bought a dress this past weekend... but if this is a boy, I'll hang on to it as a gift. My cousin just had a little girl in February so that'll work as a Christmas/Bday gift. (I got it 18m)...

I'm about to burst. I was NOT like this with DS, I even intended to NOT find out with him.
I got a call from the hospital today, but they didn't leave a message. Anyone inside the entire hospital could have made that call, it gets routed through information. I was so frustrated! My OB's practice is in the hospital and they cancelled my last appt. (moved it) and I was freaking out because I thought they were trying to cancel this next one, too! :rotfl: I need to go to that appointment and get my order for an ultrasound!!

I so wish there was a 3d place nearby but there isn't. :( I could go in Columbus with my friend next Friday (we're going consignment sale shopping!!) but I want my DH to be with me if I do one. Grr!!

Oh well. Good news is that my best friend is going to watch DS for my appt. Monday (no sick kiddos allowed in the office, you have to cancel your appt. if you don't have childcare!!) and then we're going to do lunch and some shopping! I'm very excited. It's been awhile since we got together!!
Oh, and she is going to the community baby shower with me, too!!! I was afraid she might have to work but she is an RN and going back to midnights next week so she knows she'll be able to go!! Woohoo! Door prizes, food and games! I love things like that- something different, to get out and do (plus- meet other moms!!!!!!)

Oh I'll admit it! I'm dying for alcohol. I've had two half-glasses of wine in my second trimester and a few sips of beer. It's almost not even worth it though - since I can't catch a buzz!

I remember wanting alcohol badly with DD and thinking as soon as she was out I'd have some. But don't think I even drank for 4-6 weeks after she was born.

This is my last pregnancy, so I guess I can wait the 6 more months before this one is out. I'm gonna try!!

I'll admit to alcohol cravings too. Especially in the first trimester all I wanted was a nice dark beer.

With DD, I wasn't all that interested in wine or beer, and had maybe 2 half glasses over the course of the pregnancy. This time around I did some research because I was craving beer (and later wine) so badly. After all my reading I decided to continue to believe what I already did. That alcohol in moderation isn't a big deal. There are even studies showing that boys who are born to mothers who have 1 glass wine per day have a lower risk of ADHD. I'm not drinking that much. Maybe a glass of wine every couple of weeks, tops. The only rotten thing is, unless I want a good bottle to go to waste (DH doesn't drink), I have to buy those teeny bottles which typically are not great wine. :) On our cruise I ordered a REALLY nice glass of wine one night and drank half of it, then stuck the rest in the mini-fridge for later that week.

ETA: I'm actually more concerned about caffeine consumption than alcohol now. :(

I only drink those super girly drinks.. mai tais, daquiris, etc. but I'm really bummed that we're going on vacation and I can't drink.

I'm guessing liquor is frowned upon. :rotfl:

I am glad too - it's really fun to have other pregnant ladies to chat with. :goodvibes

I'm not having too many scent aversions, but I can't handle being around raw meat - this has made cooking difficult so thankfully DH has picked up the slack on that.

Oh my goodness - what a doll! My DS was a total chunker too until he started walking and became a string bean who didn't gain a pound from 12-24 months.

I hope your sweet baby comes soon - it sure sounds like it!!

LOL, nope. Not at all. I'm definitely not my prettiest when I'm pregnant. I get fat, bloated, and kinda pasty. :confused3

OK, I guess it's just a freak thing happening to me then. I have had 2 weird run-ins in the last few days. First I was at GNC to buy my prenatal vitamins and the salesguy was totally flirting with me. Then I picked up my vitamins and he was like, oh, are you pregnant? Then he settled right down. :rotfl:

Then yesterday I was at the bookstore at the college where I work buying a snack and this weird guy who works there was like, "I probably shouldn't be hitting on you because you're the boss" (I am the boss in my dept) and I was like no, you shouldn't be hitting on me because I am married and pregnant. My student worker (who was with me) and I were laughing so hard.

It's like I'm sending out "attention all freaks please hit on me" vibes. :rotfl:

I'm guilty of that.

Yay for fun plans!! I actually won a 3D Ultrasound package at one of those community things when I was pregnant with DS. :goodvibes

I only drink those super girly drinks.. mai tais, daquiris, etc. but I'm really bummed that we're going on vacation and I can't drink.

Me too - only girly mixed drinks for me. :cutie:

OK, fellow working mamas - how long did you take for maternity leave after you had your baby? Did it feel like enough? After I had DS I didn't go back so I'm not sure what to do about this pregnancy and my boss keeps asking me.

So I got an email from the Gap for 30% off today and I LOVE BabyGap. I am dying to go buy something for the new baby.....will I give in? :rotfl:

Haha, probably ;) Get a virgin daquiri!

Gabe's Mommy- LOL at the "freaks hitting on me" thing! Hey, it's awesome you look good!! More power to ya! :goodvibes I always wished I could be one of the pretty glowing preggo women!

Yeah I was thinking the same thing about the BabyGap coupon... dare I? I know I've been buying a few things, but they've all been pretty cheap things from like, Carters. Hmmm... I *am* going to look and see what they have for DD, though.

I worked when I was pregnant with DS.

I got 12 weeks fully paid maternity leave... and honestly, it was too much for me! That probably sounds weird, but I couldn't imagine going back at the end of that 12 weeks. It would have been WAY too difficult. I was already in a pattern at home with him and had "adjusted" to things.

I did put my notice in at around 8 weeks, though. I had baby blues bad and I waivered for awhile. I thought if I went back to work, I could beat the baby blues. In the end, we decided that I should stay home... so I turned in my notice. That was pretty difficult, I enjoyed working.

...ugh!!! Must you all keep talking about deals??
I'm currently killing myself over a small duffel at Vera Bradley.
I want a new bag to use as a diaper bag, since I'll have 2 kiddos now!... and I'm so tempted but it's a tough decision!!

ZPT-- Ahhh PCOS and endo. Know all about that! That really is a miracle then! :)

LOL thanks for the heads up on the maternity undies. I guess I wasn't missing out then, huh? :lmao:

Um, no, you didn't miss anything at all. I don't know why I felt compelled to buy them, I guess I fell for the motherhood maternity marketing or something. Lesson learned, wear your real ones under your belly. Duh ;)

I don't like alcohol at all, pregnant or not, so I am lucky with that. although DH and I did a tour of the AB brewery here in St. Louis a couple of weekends ago and I thought the room where it ferments smelled really good. Wierd. Normally I would hate that smell.

Gabes Mommy: Ew, no raw meat for me either! Dh has been pretty good about that. Except that he leaves pot/pans in the sink to "soak" and the grease etc. is floating in the morning...ewww....I told him I love him and appreciate him so much, but please, please put those things straight in the dishwasher. Ours is awesome and you don't need to soak things first for it to get them spotless.

One week today until our next appointment. I've been having a lot of back and hip pain which leads to headaches and am thinking about going to a medical spa nearby and getting a pregnancy massage done. DH doesn't like that idea and wants me to go back to my chiropractor, but I don't really want to. I am so inflexible they have to really push and beat around on me to get my joints moving, so I think a massage sounds far more relaxing!

It's amazing what pregnancy/motherhood marketing can suck you into buying!

That thing looks really cool. Never heard of it. Looks like it kind of positions them similar to the carseat but better.

Wow ... you guys are busy. I got to the park and Walmart and I am a page and half behind. How did that happen!! :-)

I never gave cloth diapering a thought. I think I am too lazy. :rotfl: I am lucky I empty out the diaper trash often enough. I never had a diaper genie but used the Diaper Champ with DS and really liked that. Now I have the new Diaper Champ Deluxe and hate it. It doesn't do nearly as good a job as the first one. I wish I had known that when I threw it out when we moved. I would have stuffed it in the car with me.

All this talk about diaper cream and stuff, I realized I have like ONE tube of diaper cream that I keep stealing from the babies room for Alex. I just bought a few of each different kind at Walmart! Along with some baby wash, lotion and other things I have been procrastinating on.

I have been having stronger contractions today ... a few woke me up last night and then while at the park I started getting more. So far I have had about 5-6 over the last 1.5 hours that have made me stop what I am doing. Hopefully they will pass ... I can't wait to meet the baby but I am not ready yet. I have corned beef to make for dinner!!! :-)

Okay ... nevermind, here comes another one. Jeeze ... I should probably go make sure my bag is packed completely. I already told my mom that she might want to get her bag ready sooner than Saturday for coming here! That should seal my fate that he won't come.

Oh ... I don't have any smell aversions anymore. Fish was a HUGE one in the beginning but that's it. I also DO NOT have men any more interested in me than before!! :confused3

Oh wow, maybe this is it! I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you!
