I wouldn't mind doing the test honestly if I only had to not eat that morning. At my doctors office though...you have to fast for 12 hours. So I go in at 7:30 am after not eating for 12 hours and have blood drawn, sit there till 8:30 have more blood drawn, sit there again till 9:30 have still more blood drawn, at 10:30 even more blood drawn and then I have to have an appointment at 10:45 with my OB for the results and a checkup. That's like 16+ hours I won't be able to eat. I would love to do this test if I could just eat! Even if I could munch on crackers or something. I'll bring water of course and that will help a little but the last time I had to go 4 hours without eating (last week) I almost passed out...I would really prefer to not do that.
Thank you for letting me know all of the risks though. Nobody told me any of that! I mean I know I should ask questions but nothing ever comes to my mind when he asks "Do you have any questions?" This has been a fairly easy pregnancy so I rack my brain for questions but I find none...So thank you so much!![]()
What time do you go to bed usually? You'll just not have to eat from 7:30 in the evening til bed and then get out the door to the doctor. You can't munch on anything and they usually don't even let you leave the office. Exercising brings your blood sugar levels down...which is fine if you do have GD but not during testing.
I was only at the lab for 2 hours.
Fasting blood, drink sugar stuff, blood 1 hr later and then 2 hrs later. It was 3 blood tests but 2 hours. All my levels were off.
Don't fret too much over it. Lots of people fail the one hour test and pass the longer test. Doesn't mean you can go out and eat crazy because that is not good for your baby or for you.
I was devastated when I first found out I had GD but after a week or so I settled into a new "lifestyle" of eating habits and things have been good.
Baby has been growing at the 50th percentile and my numbers have been good. It's not something to fool around with considering the dangers. That is what keeps me on track. This isn't about me not being able to eat a cookie it's my daughter's life.

Something about being pregnant is making my levels go down. I just hope they don't shoot back up after I deliver. I don't want to have to take a pill for the rest of my life. I have a hard enough time remember birth control (obviously!)

) I didn't have my baby shower until a few days before DD was born, on a short break inbetween hospital stays. My mom was insistent that I didn't buy anything beforehand so I don't "jinx" the baby. Thanks, mom. DD was in the NICU for awhile so that gave us a little time to set things up since we couldn't be there all 24/7 and I couldn't drive because of the c/s. I guess this is why I want to get it done ASAP

). My son Alex just turned 3 last month! Sorry to hear you have a bad cold, I had one last month, but luckily it only lasted 2 weeks.
I can't believe your SIL would invite herself over for dinner when she recently had a baby too, that's just rude in my mind! You are nicer than I would have been cleaning and making dessert for them!
He said the nurses may have over-reacted a bit. Still, I'm glad that I went through it because the diet course did teach me some better eating habits.
How is Logan doing now?
. I hope it's right! I've been calling the baby "la nina" so I'm going to feel bad if it ends up being a boy.
Mayyyybe this is why people have those "meet the baby" parties... hmmmmmm. There may be something to that!
I've never had that done. Does it hurt? What happens after? That caught be by surprise. It was just something she was discussing with the other midwives on how to get me going.
