Vettechick - I started BH contractions by 15 weeks with all my pregnancies so I would guess that is what it is. Someone on this thread awhile back said that you get BH contractions all along but not all women feel them early on as some are milder than others. I would bring it up with your OB at the next appt though, cause after having my 2nd kid preterm my OB made me go in for regular ultrasounds with this one to be sure the contractions were just BH contractions and not actually causing me to dilate or anything like that.

Eeyore - So sorry for your loss. Lots of hugs to you.

Hi everyone!! Well I had my appt went the specialist on monday and the growth percentile was way under 10 and he hadn't grown much if any in the past 2wks. So he told my dr I needed to be induced this week. So I stayed monday night at the hospital and had a c-section tuesday afternoon at 1pm. He was born 1:19pm 4lbs 9oz 18in long!! His name is Logan Zeki he's just perfect he's small but other then that no problems at all he's able to stay with us all the time!! The c-section went great no problems I really didn't feel anything no pressure at all I did feel my dr push on my stomach but that was it. And when they wheeled me in and put me on the table I felt sick and I threw up twice but after that I was fine. And it went fast I was in the OR at 1:10 and out by 1:45 -2:00 Dh was with me the whole time which was great, and my mom surprised me and ended up taking a flight back so she could be with me when I saw her we both cried and hugged she said she couldn't of missed it for anything! I've been doing very good too very little pain. Ill post pictures when I get home. I'm just soo happy and over joyed

Welcome Logan!! Congrats ... can't wait to see pictures!

So here's a question.... what type of outfit are you packing to bring your little one home in? I have heard to bring a 2 piece outfit so that it doesn't irritate the umbilical cord... Then there are some people that pack really fancy outfits because the baby will have their picture taken in it. Just curious...

Also, what have you/are you planning to wear after you give birth? A nightgown or pj pants and a tshirt? Or just the hospital gown?

It's getting close! I'm full of all kinds of questions!

Hulagirl,

I prefer one piece sleepers. I don't like things that I have to get over their heads. My last baby wore a nightie but we had to make sure her feet were covered. So this time we'll use a sleeper and a hat to keep body heat in.

As for what I will wear....well the last time baby was born at home here and I had on a t-shirt and sweats. Sweats were taken off and I just wore a t-shirt. After I must have worn pajama pants. I honestly cannot remember at all. I know I walked to the couch with nothing but a peri pad between my legs...LOL

Wear what is comfy but keep in mind you'll still look six months pregnant and be leaking all kinds of bodily fluids...LOL

ugh...
I've started swelling more now. My right foot/ankle/leg looks like something off of CSI. I called my midwife and she said after 36 weeks it's a circulation thing and swelling increases. I checked my BP and it is fine. I laid down on my left side for a bit but fell asleep. Woke up daze and drooling when my older daughter called for a ride home from school...LOL

Piecey - ITA!! My first labor sounds very similar to yours, and I am more than happy to avoid going through that again!

vettechick - interesting on the BH, I'm just past 9 weeks, but I swear I'm feeling something like that already even though I don't remember feeling it at all with DS. What does the water have to do with it?

DMickey - what's your new plan for birth? I'm so indecisive that if I was back and forth on this I would probably change my mind right up until D-Day!

Arubio - Welcome baby Logan!!! That's great you're both doing so well!

hulagirl - I like Kiki's idea of using one piece outfits with snaps to avoid trying to get anything over the head. I would pick something cute, but not too fancy. But then, we're not really "fancy" people. :rotfl2: Plus, it will still probably be in the 90s or 100s when this baby is born, so she probably won't need a full sleeper outfit. Myself, last time I put on my own nightgown, didn't really want pants anywhere near the c-section scar. I felt more "normal" in my own nightgown instead of the hospital gown that never fits well and shows way more to all the visitors than I am comfortable with. :scared1: To go home, I did put on a pair of sweat pants (non-maternity in a bigger size than normal), but I think I took them off pretty soon after I got home and put on a nightgown. :thumbsup2

Kiki - sorry to hear about the swelling, I hope that gets better for you soon!

******************

Question for you all, before I found out I was pg, I signed up for the March of Dimes. This is something that the company I work for is a major advocate for and sponsor of (2nd in the country!), so it is always strongly encouraged that we participate. I will still do some fund-raising, and I think I will be OK for the walk, because it is only 3.5 miles. It starts early in the morning before it gets too hot, and it is in downtown Phoenix and there will be tons of people around, so I think I should be ok. I could probably check with the OB first.

Do you all think there would be any reason I shouldn't do it? I know some pregant women run throughout their pregnancy, but I have never been a runner, so the walk will be enough for me.

Pollito916,

I think a walk would be fine as long as you walk at your pace and keep hydrated. Walking is good. I have no idea how some women can run. I know I sure wouldn't want to.

When is it?

I never brought my kids home in anything particularly special: 1 piece sleeper type outfits for my girls and a short and t-shirt set for my son since he was born in August. The umbilical stump thing, that can stay on awhile and I have never noticed any annoyance or discomfort relating to it with any of my kids.

In fact, Scarlett has an umbilical hernia so she can sort of suck her belly button in and push it out (very weird, I know). Well because of that it took over 3 weeks before it fell off (cause it never stayed too dry since she could suck it in so much). I don't think she had any outfits on over that period of time that were 2 pieces, well, in the sense of leaving her belly button exposed. It's been freezing here so I've kept her whole body covered at all times.

So I would just pick the outfit you think is cute and weather appropriate and go with that.

In the hospital I wore all the stuff they provided with all 3 kids. I didn't plan to with my first, but after seeing all the, hmm, fluids and stuff, I didn't feel like ruining any of my own stuff. And like mentioned above, with this kid I didn't want anything near my c-section incision (actually, I still pretty much don't and it's been just over a month) so the hospital gown it was. But we have pretty nice ones that cover everything, plus they always give 2 so if you want to wear one backwards as a robe you can. I like how the shoulders snap on them to make breastfeeding really easy in the beginning too.

Pollito - I would think the walk would be okay. BTW, I just noticed you live in Phoenix. We're moving to Tucson in July. Phoenix was my first choice but my husband got a better deal with a group in Tucson so that's where we're going. We're heading out there next month to look for a house so hopefully that goes well.

Thank you all for your input on outfits. For baby and for me!

I just got home from my 39 week appt. I lost 2 lbs (woo hoo!) and heard the heartbeat which the dr. said sounded good. He checked me (so uncomfortable!) and said that my cervix has not changed since last week. so still 2 cm. sigh... He did say that the baby's head was very low and I have a favorable pelvis for birthing. He said that if my water breaks or I get a regular pattern of contractions to call the office. He said that I won't deliver at home and she won't fall out, but not to wait it out at home. I asked if with contractions I should do the 5-6 min apart for an hour and he said for me even 7 minutes.

So now we are just waiting. When I woke up this morning I felt like today could be the day. I'm feeling crampy and my back hurts and I am having pain shooting down the insides of my legs. I'm ready to go when this baby is! Might want to wait for tomorrow though at least. We need some of this snow to settle down. It's so bad out today!!!

vettechick - interesting on the BH, I'm just past 9 weeks, but I swear I'm feeling something like that already even though I don't remember feeling it at all with DS. What does the water have to do with it?
.

He! Well Braxton Hicks are often caused by not drinking enough water. So if you ever get them when you are further along, that might be why! :)

Oh, man. We went shopping today for an Easter outfit for Lucas. I'm going to combine his 9 month pictures with Easter so I wanted to go ahead and buy the outfit.

First of all, there is hardly ANYTHING for little boys but all these gorgeous little dresses! It SOOOO made me want a little girl!

Then I saw a "Big Brother" t-shirt. Of course Sears had none in his size, Pennys didn't carry the style.. but Kohls did! I called them and they held the last 2T for me and I just picked it up! It's sooo cute! :lovestruc They had little brother/little sister onesies.. hopefully they are still there when I find out next month!!

I'm so happy to say I am a mom to be now too! Due mid October. This is our first - so we are terrified at how much we don't know and also ridiculously excited as well.

So I hope can learn lots from those who are farther along on this wonderful journey than I am....if you'll have me :)

Hey guys!!

Alexander and I are at my parents house, 2.5 hours from my doctor's office and the hospital. I am a little nervous but oh well. We had a horrible storm on Thursday PM and lost power. We still do not have it and our house was 43 degrees in the bedrooms this afternoon when DH stopped by on his way here. At this point we have no idea when we will get power back ... great!! I have my next appointment on Thursday so I am hoping we get it back by Tuesday or Wednesday so that I don't have to worry about that. I am going to come home to a fridge full of spoiled nasty food. GROSS ... so not an expense that I need to deal with this close to delievery. I am freaking out a little bit because I still have some things to get together for Ryan. I don't have a bag packed for either of us .... argh. I need shades for his room still though there are curtians up. I need formula. Now I need all new groceries.

So ... yeah ... Lots of fun. I went to a doctor down here at my parents house for the first 1/2 of my pregnancy so if I do go into labor down here I'll be in good hands but still ... I want to be home!
