If it helps at all, the jump from one to two was not a big deal for me. Hope it won't be for you either!

Thanks, that does help! Why is it people are so willing to share the horror stories but rarely will they share the positives? Kind of sad actually. My best friend just had a baby and while she was still pregnant, so many people told her how bad labor was etc. I told her mine really wasn't bad and sometimes it's all in how you look at things.....go in with a positive attitude and that will help.....here's hoping the transition is smooth for us :)

Congratulations on your daughter!!!

Congratulations lilianddomsmom!

Congratulations TSRE!

I'm excited...someone actually purchased something off of our registry...and if I had had to pick one thing for someone to purchase it would have been that! Yeah!

Have a great day everyone!

We had an unplesent night last night. I woke up at about 1:00 because I smelled something odd. I thought it was one of the dogs, but it kept getting worse and worse...and more and more skunky. A skunk was in our garage and sprayed! It is so nasty...the whole house just reeks right now...even DH was gagging and the dogs were trying to hide...we sprayed a bunch of febreeze, etc. but had to keep getting up and doing it over again because the smell would just come back. DH is at home dealing with it this morning. It was the first time in a long time, maybe ever, that I couldn't wait to get to work! I hope it's gone or at least better when I get home!

How awful! I hope the smell starts going away soon!

Well, we finally found out...

It's a girl!!!

Congrats!

seems strange since we have "experience" but eveyone says the jump from one to two is so significant that I think it has us freaked!

I have been the same way with this pregnancy, I just don't know yet how everything will work out, but I'm sure it will somehow!

Welcome baby Aalyah! Post pics when you get a chance!

Wanna see something gross? ;)

I don't know why, but it eeks me out!

ETA: I don't know why it won't just show the darn photo.
ETA: Oh duh... pregnancy brain strikes again... you actually have to point to the PHOTO... not the FB page the photo is on. Sigh -- you'd think that as a web programmer I would KNOW THAT.

Got my results from my 1 hr GTT and I failed. I got a 162 and the cut off was 130. So I get to go back and have a 3 hr done. Yuck.

Nette: Not gross, just a baby belly :) . I bet you're ready for baby to get here though!

Temair: Ugh. Sorry you have to do the three hour test.

I took some pictures of our nursery last night. We went with a Mickey Mouse / sports theme. Forgive the quality, I took them with my phone since I was too lazy to do all the stuff to upload them to the computer...

Glider chair w/ throw, one end of the crib, shelves with stuffed animals, Willardson Donald Duck Painting (we won this on a cruise art auction. It came in an icky gold fram that DH painted for the baby's room), Small Diaper Bag, Pin lanyard with two pins we bought for DS at DTD a couple of months ago:

Crib with Mobile:

Antique dresser with Marble top. We changed the drawer pulls, and placed the changing pad on top with a non-skid mat underneath it:

Close-up of drawer pulls:

This shelf is at the end of the dresser and has wipes, lotion, cups, etc. on it. The diaper stacker and a little Mickey robe are hanging off the shelf knobs. This shelf matches the shelves in the previous picture. We got them on sale for $3 each at Lowe's! The knobs are various sports balls:

Corner with Dresser, changing pad, etc.. The painting (which is screwed in the wall, so no worries about it falling on baby!) is NOT a chepo velvet thing...it just looks that way for some reason because of the photo.:

Closeup of valences and curtain rods. The switch plate and outlet covers in the room (no pics, sorry) match the valences:

Area rug:

Closeup of Mickey border I hand painted around the room. You can see more of it in some of the other pictures:
cr9.jpg

Shelves DH built. We have baskets with towels, bibs, blankets, bath stuff, and toys on these, as well as some decorations, and books. It added so much storage space!:
cr4.jpg

Some of DH's vintage Disney toys on top shelf along with his Dad's fire helmet:
cr15.jpg

More vintage toys, small print, Mickey ears for our dogs, and stuffed Dug:
cr16.jpg

Some of the baskets we are using on the shelves. DH put the leftover drawer pulls on these. The laundry basket (under the crib) matches these as well:

Vintage lamp (the baloons light up; it will be good light for nighttime feedings, etc) or you can just light up the box Mickey sits on as a nightlight:
cr14.jpg

We also changed out the overhead light to a light blue fixture with all of the different sports balls around it on the flush mount. I couldn't get a picture because it was too bright!

Sorry for so many pictures!

Have a great day, everyone!

Temair - sorry you have to do the long test. That's just yucky!!

Irisbud - LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your nursery :)

I love the nursery!!

Those shelves add so much space, I love it!

Ingenious to use the leftover knobs on the baskets, too!

Nette - I can't see anything from FB on my work computer, but if it's just your belly, I'm sure it's not gross!

Temair - that stinks, I hope the 3 hour results are better!

irisbud - the room looks great! You guys did an awesome job!

*****************

Is anyone else having Braxton-Hicks contractions all the time? I never had them with DS so didn't even what they felt like until this pregnancy, but I get them every day now! Some of them are even kind of painful, but there is no pattern or consistency to them, so I'm thinking it's no big deal yet.....

Temair -- That stinks! But maybe you'll pass the long one. A coworker (who is 2 weeks behind me) had to do the long one after failing the short one miserably and she passed... and she had GD last pregnancy, so she was really happy!

irisbud - I love the nursery too! I haven't done much on our nursery at all. The room is cleaned out now with a crib up and clothes and stuff put away, but that's about it. And I think we are going to replace the crib after all since it's a drop side and a hand me down and we're not sure how old, or which brand it is. So one week out and I'm crib shopping? :scared1: Will try to take some pics...

Pollito - I have had BH contractions like that since 20 weeks. It really stinks that they hurt. Maybe bring it up at your next doctor appt... Mine didn't seem to think it was a big deal if they weren't coming 15 minutes apart for over 2 hours... Which is good, because sometimes I'd have 6 in an hour and then none for a while. Can you imagine how often I'd have been in L&D? Make sure you're drinking enough water too.

Not sure why seeing my belly from that angle grosses me out... it just does. I guess I can't tell how huge I am from the top. :rotfl:

So now it looks like pretty much ALL drop side cribs are being voluntarily recalled....DS's crib that we were planning to use again for DD was a drop-side. I went on the manufacturer's website and requested a repair kit, which should arrive in 2-3 weeks. That's plenty of time before DD arrives. But for some reason I still feel nervous about it. I don't know why. DS slept in a drop-side crib the entire time he was a baby, and he only used this crib for about 1 year, so it's still in great shape. Am I crazy for feeling like this? I don't really have an extra $300 to dish out for a new crib.

Is anyone else planning to use a drop-side crib? Or any other used crib? If so, are you getting a new mattress? DS's mattress was one of the nice foam ones, we used a mattress protector, and he almost never leaked out of his diapers anyway (never spit up in bed), so it's in really good shape too.

What is everyone else doing that still has a young toddler?

Thanks for all of the compliments on the nursery. DH and I worked really hard on it. DH was really into it!

Pollito: The crib we just purchased that is in the pictures is a drop side. There aren't any recalls on it that I can find and I feel really comfortable using it. I can hardly make it drop, and just the way it is made...I feel fine with it, though I was hesitant at first because of the recalls. This was an expensive crib (thankfully my dad bought it as a gift or we wouldn't own it). There is no kit avalible for ours. I asked the saleslady about it and she said she would use it. She knew we would have bought another crib for the same or more so it wasn't like she was going to lose a sale over it. I would do whatever makes you feel comfortable. JMO, though.

Pollito - I have a drop side crib from when DD was a baby that she never slept in. With that being said I think I've decided to replace it regardless of whether or not it has been recalled. My reasoning is.... I have a 6 1/2 year old still sleeping with me because I allowed it - I don't want to do that again. I would worry if the baby was in that crib and it would be an "excuse" to have her end up with me. Also...Walmart has the Graco Lauren currently available for $125 - and although it isn't fancy, I like the way it looks so I don't feel too terrible about spending the money on it. I still have to pull out my crib mattress and check it out....it should be in great shape though :) So, I agree it is definitely a personal decision.....but that's what I decided and why.
