Moms to be Part 4

YAY my chinese food just got here. I broke down and ordered a late lunch/early dinner for DD and myself.

Mmm, I love chinese food! The chinese food out here is terrible though, none of it is "authentic" and mostly just tastes bland and greasy :crazy2:

Ya know, I have no idea how tall she is! But I know she's not 40" which I think is cut-off right? So we just hang out while DH runs off to the single rider lines.

I think you're right about the 40", so DS will probly have to wait until the next trip too. He has seen ToT on travel channel shows and really wants to go on that! :scared1:

I saw on your BC thread that you went on TSM - how was that pg? I've heard other people warn about nausea on that type of ride while pg, but wasn't sure.

DD's going to be just shy of 3.5 on our trip in December, but I don't think she's going to be 40". Darn these short genes! I know she's going to have a blast though, it only gets better every trip. (Lucky kid has been there 3x!)

I agree that DS enjoys each trip more, next month will be his 3rd. I never even got to go until I was 5, so I admit, I'm a little jealous! The first trip was a little over-whelming, and he just seems to "get it" more each trip, and anytime he sees a commercial, he says "I want to go there!" The other night, he was falling asleep and just heard the music and still said it! :rotfl:

Hey Ladies! Benadryl is safe during pregnancy, isn't it?

Yes! :thumbsup2

I went to the DR yesterday for my appt I made when I was worried somethng was wrong and everything was great.

We leave tomorrow and I have barely packed. DH is mad because I want to take two checked bags total (one for each of us) and he doesn't want to have to pay the extra $30 RT.

Puppy is doing great! No accidents in the house at all (knock on wood), and only needs to go out once in the middle of the night every night. He passed his vet check yesterday with flying colors and made friends with everyone in the vets office

So glad everything went well at the dr (and vet!). My last dog loved going to the vet so much, we used to have to drag her out of there whining! Crazy dog! It's good the potty training is going so well too, some dogs seem to learn faster than others!

I think the $30 RT for checked bags is actually pretty low. I think some airlines actually charge more. I usually fly SW too, but if AA was cheaper, it seems like a no-brainer. I'm sure your DH will chill when you're actually on vacation and forget all about it.

AAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Does anyone else have RLS problems? I knew this was going to happen, I've had RLS in the past (not pregnant) and it was alleviated when I started taking iron supplements. But now that I'm 3rd trimester, I strongly suspect my iron is WAAY low. They drew blood for a CBC last week, but haven't gotten back to me yet. Not that I think it will show anything, even with extremely low iron I've never had abnormal red blood cells. So I *know* I need more iron, but I'm guessing my doctor won't change anything.

The nerve tingling is killing me. It's one of the worst feelings in the world. And I'm already not sleeping well, so this is NOT helping!

ok, done b****ing.

I know you asked Vettechick this but I went on it in Jan when I was there and didn't feel any nausea. In fact...we went on it multiple times because it was sooo much fun!!:3dglasses

I'm sorry you're not able to sleep well! I've never had RLS but couldn't imagining having normal pregnancy problems AND the RLS. How annoying! I hope your doc would be somewhat sympathetic and try to help you come up with a solution...or change your iron!

Ugh, I've had this on and off since December or January and it's driving me CRAZY! I know how you feel, I can't take it anymore either!

Do you work at a computer a lot? One of my co-workers started having the problem about the same time, and our ergonomics specialist told her it was because she wasn't sitting at her computer right and repositioned all kinds of stuff. I work in a different location where we don't have a specialist on site, so I tried to follow his instructions and it improved somewhat, but I still get it often.

Thanks - glad to hear I can still go on some of the fun rides! :thumbsup2

Abby has croup and DH has a nasty cold so I'm just waiting to get sick....again! I finally got past the nausea and then had two upper resp infec. I'm starting to get a cough now so it's only a matter of time. It's so funny how things are way different when you already have kids. When I was pg with DD I avoided people who were sick at all costs. Now, it's like, well what am I supposed to do?? My 2 yr old is sick and needs me. I guess I take my chances. Hoping now that the nice weather is arriving here that we can all get healthy and stay that way :)

I am so miserable. I obviously for some reason this year have allergies to something. Last night I was so miserable I went ahead and took some benadryl....but it didn't do a whole lot for me. I woke up with my left eye so swollen and red and crusty.....and it still hurts and is red. My throat is absolutely on fire. And I have stuffed up nose on top of it all. I know I can take benadryl....but I sure can't take it at work because it knocks me out. I don't really think there is much else I can even take. I did call my doctor's office, but they can't see me until tomorrow at 8:15am. I hope I can make it that long.

Sorry to hear you're so sick!!

kpm - I know exactly what you mean, it's hard to avoid sick people when one of them is your child. Croup is especially difficult because of the horrible sounds babies make when they have it. I hope you don't catch anything.

wdworbust - Have you tried anything stronger than benadryl? I would get some claritin or zyrtec. Benadryl does next to nothing for me, but zyrtec works wonders this time of year. I hope you're feeling better soon!

Yeah... lucky me, I'm a software engineer. And you might have something there... I'm most uncomfortable at my desk and in the car, and both places (except when I'm the driver) I tend to cross my legs or curl up. I've been trying to make myself sit w/ my feet flat on the floor. I wonder if one of those nursing foot stools would help too... Tips?

Oh Man. I know how bad it is to be sick like that when pregnant. :( I'd be worried about that eye though... it sounds a lot like pink eye. And have you looked at your throat w/ a flashlight? White spots? My throat only feels that bad w/ strep. I hope you make it until your doctor appt tomorrow... it's MISERABLE being sick and pregnant. :(

Wow I'm sorry everyone is so sick! I hope you get better soon

WDWorBust: I hope they can find some medication that will work for you :(

Nette: Ugh the RLS is bad. I haven't had it for about a month now, but it was miserable. I hope you can find some relief!

Just got an e-mail that our stroller is in! We'll pick it up tonight!

Can I share stress for a minute?
Had my routine doctor’s appointment today and ended up in OB triage for 5 hours…. Everything seemed very rotine until they took my blood pressure. I am an extremly nerveous patient and tend to have elevated bp at every appointment, but today was way higher than normal. They came back in about 2 minutes later and took my bp again. It had gone down a bit, but then they ran a test on my urine and there was a bit of proetien in it. Between the protein and the high bp I was taken to triage for monitoring. After 5 hours of monitoring the baby and I they let me go home, but I’m on bedrest til Monday and I have to go back to the doctor tomorrow and then Friday I have to go in for an ultra sound and stress test. The best part is that I also have to do a urine collection for 24 hours tomorrow, which should be pretty entertaining as I go about every 10 minutes these days. I’m under strict orders to relax, which is hard to do when they tell you they’re worried about preeclampsia. :sad1:

Nette - here's part of a worksheet they gave us:

The Overall Picture
Neck not bent or twisted
Shoulders relaxed
Elbows at sides
Keep the curves with good lumbar support
Wrist in neutral position
Keyboard at about elbow height
Padded wrist rest to reduce arm and shoulder discomfort
Mouse by keyboard
Hard copy holder close to monitor to reduce eye motions and discomfort and allow proper neck posture
Top of monitor placed at about eye level to allow proper head and neck position
Adjust your workstation so that angles of your body are approximately 90o to 120o
Adjust seat so that thighs are parallel to the floor, and feet are flat on floor or footrest

There was a picture with it, but I can't seem to copy the picture

 Oh Lauren, I know it's rough now, but it's good that they let you go home. Try as hard as you can to relax the rest of the week!

Oh, I am so sorry  Lots of thoughts and prayers headed your way for you and the baby. My sister had to do the urine collection 2x when she was pregnant. She said it wasn't awful but just kinda gross in the fridge...and annoying of course. Try to rest and relax....I know so much easier said than done, but see if you can use this as an excuse to catch up on some TV or reading :)

I'll be praying for you and baby. I know you will, but the most important thing now is to follow those doctor's orders to a T - and from experience I know how bad bedrest totally sucks!

Lauren I hope everything gets better for you. Just try and relax, it isn't too long before you go back again.

Ugh. I'm so sorry to hear that. Hopefully it's really just dr induced stress... have you taken your BP at home?

Thanks for all the kind thoughts and well wishes... I am staying positive that everything will be just fine, I think I'm just being 'paid back' because until now, my pregnancy has been extremely easy. I am going to listen to my doctors and follow their instructions; even though I hate doing 'nothing'.

Oh yeah, sadly I'm an old pro at this because I have such anxiety about going to the doctor.

Lauren, this exact thing happened to me, 8 years ago. Unfortunately for me, they caught it when I was 32 weeks and I was too far gone...Immediate ER and emergency C-section. My regular OB was away for 6 weeks and I had fill ins, who just did not catch it. Thank God they have caught it now with you! Please stay home and rest. I know bedrest sucks but it is so worth it! I now have a very healthy 8 year old boy and everything turned out okay, but if they are worried you should just sit tight and catch up on that book you have been meaning to read!!! Take care and good luck!

Carlita

Lauren, I am sorry..not trying to scare you. I had a not great experience with my first, because they caught my pre-eclampsia too late and I have no recollection of his birth because of the meds they had me on. PLENTY of my friends had mild forms and were fine....I just am sensitive to this, because I would hate for anyone else to go through it...
