Hello!

I'm thrilled to say that we are expecting our 1st baby--due January 22! I'm 13 weeks along, so there's still quite a ways to go, but we are super excited! I'd love to join the group here. :)

Welcome! I am due Dec. 15th!

Some small updates. . .

Can't remember if I mentioned this but at our last Dr appt. Dr. I told us that BBK was measuring big, like 3lbs 10 ounces big! I think that the size of BBK is diminishing my hopes for a vag birth but I just want him out as safely as possible so whatever we gotta do we'll do. At our L&D class it was pretty funny when the RN who was teaching asked who, if anyone, was planning on a medicated birth I put both hands in the air while my other classmates, whom bear in mind i have a good 10 to 15 years on age wise looked at me dumbfounded! The RN laughed and said! Awesome! I'lll personally make your pain coctails and be there!

Everyone is entitled to her own birth plan, but I had an epidural with my first two and have zero complaints! I will definitely be gettting one this time, too!

So after all that good stuff I must say I'm uncomfortable today. I feel like I need a massage. My whole core is kinda weak and tired. I mean I'm ok but I would love to lie down for a bit and I'm sure sitting at a computer all day isn't helping.;)

Ooh! I haven't had a prenatal massage and really need to schedule one. I'm looking forward to laying on my side. I hope they don't have a table with a whole for my belly- I get really stuffy face down!

Just popping by to say hi. :goodvibes Hope everyone is doing well dealing with this summer heat.

I'm 26 weeks now, time is flying by!

The heat has been brutal! I know all my in-laws in Alabama would make fun of me, but I'm a Chicago girl that isn't used to the heat! DH and I went to a soccer game at Soldier Field yesterday and boy was it hot. DH was worried about me being dehydrated, I think we went thru 5 water bottles in the first half of the game!

The heat is horrible! Dh and I went to a baseball game a few weeks ago in Cincinnati. I went through several water bottles and a Lemon Chill! We were scheduled for a WDW trip this summer but cancelled when we found out we are havign a baby so we could save a little money. TG! I've been in summer a few times, but I don't think I could have handled it this year!

Megs: Hang in there!

We had an ultrasound recently and found out we are having a boy. Everything looked good! Now, we need to work on names! We had a good girl name but can't agree on the boy name!

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone! I had my first "real" OB visit last week (I had already had the "confirmation of pregnancy" ultrasound visit at 8 weeks, but this was my full OB workup visit), and what a delight that was. ;) It went well though, and we got to hear the baby's hearbeat again on the screening ultrasound they did. I couldn't tell much at all of what I was looking at other than the baby's backbone though LOL.

We went ahead and scheduled the 16 week ultrasound to find out the baby's gender. Of course I also love hearing that little heartbeat, so I'll take any chance I can get, even if it costs me a few bucks! So if the baby is feeling cooperative, we will find out the gender in just 2 weeks. I'm so excited about that!

I live in GA so I have it like your relatives. It is really hard being preggo in thsi heat. I often don't feel well, and b/c everyhting checks out ok (bp, glucose, etc) I think it has to be the heat. And I am bad...I don't drink enough water. I am due Oct 5th, so most likely, I won't get any relief before baby comes, b/c temps don;t really start to go down until later in October here.

YAH to 12 weeks and hearing the heartbeat!! Hope you get your shower worked out!

I live in Marietta--what a small world!

Paintnolish, congrats on team blue!!

I had my monthly OB appt on Friday. Everything was good. I have to go a week from Thursday for my 1 hr GTT. I'm crossing my fingers I pass and don't have to do the 3 hr!

So I'm listening to Disney music right now (the MK welcome show) and LO is bopping around to it. She's a Disney girl already! :woohoo:

So jealous that you get to find out the gender at 16 weeks! My OB makes you wait until 20. 2 weeks will be here before you know it!

Well, we wouldn't get to find out normally until the 20 week appointment either. But my doctor's office lets you pay out of pocket for an optional "jack or jill" ultrasound. Being the advance planner that I am, I'm more than willing!

YAH to another boy! Its like year of the boy, I tell you. There have been some girls, but the majority of babies coming are boys from what I have heard! Good luck on names. My DH picked ours, Aaron Joseph, calling him AJ, with some help from me. Our deal was he picked boy name, I picked girl name.

Cool, I am in Snellville/Loganville. Grew up here in GA all my life.

As far as the heartbeat, have you looked into a doppler? I got one from ebay for $60 bucks and my flex spending paid for it. That way, I can hear the heartbeat whenever I want. It really was peace of mind b/c we had an earlier miscarriage. I still use it now, even with feeling him move all the time, cuz I just love to hear his fast, little hb! :)

My doc would've made us wait until almost 21 weeks b/c of how my appts line up, but we did the elective 3d/4d (paid a little less than $100) at 16 weeks so we got to se the 3d/4d and find out the sex early. It was totally worth it to us to get the extra ultrasound and find out we were expecting a boy early. :)

Exactly what we did, except we did it at an ultrasound place b/c they offered more for the same price (prints, longer session, etc).

I am a GA native too! And in metro-Atlanta, that's pretty rare it seems.

I considered it--I do love hearing that heartbeat. My mom is going with us to the ultrasound appointment, and I'm sure she'll get a real kick out of hearing it too.

I started coming to this board when I was expecting my little princess who was born 12/3/10, now I am expecting again 2/20/12. Maybe not a big deal for some people but holy crap, we were supposed to be infertile after number 2, 8 years ago! We were so excited about our little miracle baby that another one snuck right in behind her, while nursing no less! We will have a 13yo, 9 yo, 1yo, and a brand new baby! So here I am again!

Yes, it is rare! Hope your appt went well!

Well, I've been MIA - looks like most of us have - enjoying my last week bvefore school, then being extremely busy my first week back at school. Not much to report. Not sure when I posted last but had a good shower, got the nursery pretty well set up other than some things we still need. I'll have one more shower at work, which will be nice. Feeling good to be into my 8th month, with less than 2 months to go. In the home stretch now!

Hope all is well for everyone! Would love to read the updates!

 Home Stretch! Good for you! I hope it is a comfortable two months for you! And lucky you, with one more shower to look forward to! :thumbsup2 Glad your nursery is coming along!

Megs...Has Ava made her arrival yet?
Ugh... NO!

I was hoping she would show up early... I guess she still could, but I am really doubting she will come on her own. But who knows!

I've been having really, really bad Braxton Hicks contractions lately. I am super uncomfortable. I could swear I am making progress, but as of my last doctors appointment, I am making ZERO progress. :sad2: While he said she is "right there" and engaged, I am zero anything and my cervix is still "very, very posterior". My doctor is very encouraging! :headache: ;)

I've been super, super tired lately. I haven't been sleeping at night, because she loves to sleep all day, and then wiggle and punch at my bladder all night! :woohoo:

I am really hoping she comes sooner than later, but I am getting very anxious and nervous about delivery. I'm still on the fence about the epidural, as I have heard horror stories about pushing for three hours, and long labors, etc. But who am I to think I can do it natural! I'm the biggest baby! :rotfl:

Ava's nursery is DONE! Thought I'd share a picture or two!

I'm really pleased with her little pink nursery, but I wish she was HERE to be put IN IT!!! :yay: Hurry up, Ava!!!

Hope everyone is doing and feeling well!!!

Megs-
Such a cute nursery! :cutie: If you don't mind me asking, where did you get your furniture set? That looks exactly like the crib/dresser that I want to get for our nursery. Any info would be helpful!

I am also on the fence about an epidural (not knocking anyone who wants/has had one). I also have heard horror stories, and feel like humans have been delivering without it for thousands of years so why should I do it? But then again, I'm a big baby too! :) I have a while to think about it but I feel like I will probably go in not wanting one but will be open to it depending on the pain.

:) Thanks! It's from BRU... the Baby Cache Essentials collection. If it is the same, I can tell you it is GOOD quality, sturdy furniture!

Yeah, I'm not trying to pretend I am SuperWoman, but I really hope I can make it without the epidural. I seriously doubt it though ;)

Not much for me to update on about myself. I'm definitely feeling better which is a plus. I still have waves of nausea but it's really only if I don't eat. I really need to keep snacking constantly. It's just so hard to re-train yourself to eat, eat, eat even if you don't feel hungry. For someone who has been a yo-yo dieter, it's so engrained in me to only eat when I'm hungry. Well, when I'm hungry it's normally too late! :lmao:
I go back for my 16 week appt next week. It's hard right now since I don't have the awful nausea to constantly remind me I'm pregnant, I'm not showing (I notice I'm getting bigger, but other people can't be able to tell), I can't feel the baby move/kick, we don't know the gender so we aren't really planning names, registry items, etc. We're just kinda "in-between". I'm ready for the ball to start rolling here! ;)

Glad you aren't nauseous anymore! That is the worst!

I was the same way... I think I was six months before I started to show (to strangers). Nobody at my job knew I was pregnant, and I quit at about six months.

But there is nothing wrong with starting picking put names and looking at registry items! That is FUN!!!
