:yay: Congratulations :yay:

and a :bday: to Chase!

Christina, I love that nursery. Your attempt looks great too! What if you left it the way it is and added some blue circle or blue accents. You don't need to paint them on the walls (in case you don't like them)... Maybe go to a craft store and get some wood or styrofoam and paint it light blue and hang it on the walls.... Even some light blue heavy paper.... Maybe not even just circles - all shapes... OK, now MY head is spinning... but that might be an idea you can use! :thumbsup2

I was convinced this one was a girl!! Instinctually called him a her and she ... only could think of girl names. So much for mothers instinct. I was right with Alexander though ... Even the Chinese gender charts, which were right for Alex, said Girl. I still hold out hope!! :-) We are doing the 3/4D U/S in a few weeks so I hope to get a good potty shot then too but I have seen the pee-pee enough to know it's not going anywhere!

I was really hoping for a girl with this one. DSD was 5 when DH and I started dating, so I didn't get to do all the baby girl things with her. With DS, I am the total sports mom. I am the one who brings him to his practices (and manage both his football and soccer teams), I sit on the edge of the wrestling mat during tournaments, and I am his Cub Scout leader. And I love doing all those things. I have fun with it. That being said, I have been a dancer since I was 3, and a dance teacher now for the last 15 years, so I always wanted to have my little ballerina. But, looks like I am destined to another 18 years of sitting on bleachers, cheering another little boy on!

Good grief I'm stupid. I was staring at the chart (I hadn't thought to check it until you mentioned it!) and couldn't remember how old I am. :rotfl:

If you do the thing based off of month and date, it's right for Lucas being a boy.
Meaning this thingie where you input the data: http://www.thelaboroflove.com/chart/pred.html

If I follow the chart here: http://www.thelaboroflove.com/chart/cal.html they predict Lucas as a girl.

It's weird to me that they are both the same website and give me different information.

Anyway, for this time around they say girl on the chart and boy on the thing where you put exact dates.

I wonder why??

I can understand that.
Ever since I got it into my head that this was a girl I've been dreaming of taking her to eat in Cinderella's castle and the boutique thing which I can't spell to save my life...

There are just some things that a mom will always want to do with little girls!

Luckily, my cousin that adores Disney is having a baby girl here in a few weeks so if I don't get my girl I'm sure we'll go to Disney together and I can get my fix from her daughter. :lovestruc

I checked both of these and it came up "girl" both times.

Now, Ever since I could remember - I have wanted little boys. I always said "girls have PMS from the moment of conception and I am not dealing with that".

BUT, since becoming pregnant - my attitude is changing. My intuition is telling me girl and I think I really want a girl!

Jenn - Is that your name? :) Thanks for the idea ... we really don't like the colors on the top of the wall. The darker tan looks way too fleshy and pink. I already got the blue (Utah Sky from Behr) I think and have done the first coat on the whole top half of the room!!! Once I make a decision, I work fast!! :-) Now I just don't know where to put the chair rail. I think it should line up with the window sill right? I am going to put brown curtains to match the valence I have so if they don't like up on the side perfectly you won't be able to see it anyway!

I hope you guys get your girls ... though I will be insanely jealous!!!!!!!! The pink clothes and nurseries are just TOOO CUTE. I mean really ... blue and brown are the only cute choices for a boy. I do have to say though, my DS is much more low keyed than any of the girl toddlers I know ... amazingly. However if Ryan's acrobatics in my belly are any indication of his personality when he is born, it will be a whole different ball game. Alex was very quiet in my tummy as well ... not this dude. I swear the inside of my belly is bruises because he is always pushing on both sides at the same time!!

Anyone know if Target does baby sales very often??? I am keeping an eye on the glider I want (Thanks Patsy!!) but I am trying to wait for it to go on sale.

I wonder why I get the messed up information! Maybe I am doing something wrong? :confused3

I always felt that way about a little girl too. I told my parents I don't want to raise me! I had this independent streak and my parents refused to "let go" so I caused holy heck for all of us until they did. :rolleyes1 It wasn't pretty and I don't want to go through anything like that!! :rotfl:

First link predicted boy for both my DD7 and this current pregnancy.
Second link predicted girl for both.

Weird.

Both of those predicted Boy for Alexander and GIRL for this one. :headache:

Weird!!!!! Why are we all getting such different answers.
No way can this thing be 93% accurate.. especially whenever I'm getting b/g answer depending on which link I follow.

Maaaaan.

I had always heard that a trained ear will be able to tell the difference in a boy's heart beat vs. a girl's heart beat during a regular OB appointment.
My doc said Girl without missing a beat (no pun intended!) so we'll see what happens.
When I did those two charts on the labor of love site, one said boy, the other said girl.....

Question for those who already had baby number 1 (or who are at the timing contractions point with this pregnancy). So the doctor says to call once the contractions last more than a minute, every 5 minutes, for at least one hour.
My question - how do you determine when the contraction is over? The past few days my braxton hicks have been getting a bit more intense and now instead of just having my stomach get hard, I get lots of period type cramps at the same time. But the painful crampy part tends to stop about 20 seconds before my stomach stops being so tight. So is the contraction over once my stomach goes back to normal? Or is it over once the majority of the pain subsided?
I hope that question makes sense....it's probably irrelevant since I don't think I've even had a braxton hicks that lasted less than a minute....but I've been wondering about it.

When I had my contractions with my DS there was a definitely bell curve to the pain. I didn't bother to time how long they were, it was hard enough for me to remeber when they started vs. when they ended! I had a lot of cramps and BH for about 3-4 days leading up to actual labor. There was a very distinct difference for me. I didn't have a chance during the actual contractions to figure out what pain was where, if my belly was hard or what.

I never was able to figure contractions out. I was in L&D one night (for gallbladder issues) and they told me I was contracting but I had no idea.

I think they're one of those things that are sooo different for everybody it's hard to give advice.
The only ones I remember are when I was dilated to 10, Pitocin drip was going strong and the epidural had worn off. And all I remember is pain in my back that felt like someone was kneading bread right above my butt.

cappygirl, I've heard that too. My OB is very reserved and quiet but at the first heartbeat appt. she asked what I was hoping for. I told her my husband's family is all boys and then she went for the hearbeat. She smirked when she found it and i've always wondered if she knew right then that Lucas was a boy, just like every other kid born into DH's family. I wish I would have asked.

People always say you will know when real contractions hit. That is true.
With both of my living babies the labour contractions were more in my back. With DD#2 I know that it became uncomfortable to sit on the couch so I walked around and sat intermittently.

With both daughters I knew that it was different and that "this was it".

When the hard labour hit the contractions came every 2 minutes and were hard to deal with. DD#2....my water broke and that was it. One contraction rolled into another and I had back labour. DH had to rub my lower back or else...or else what I don't know but I put the fear of God into that man.

Like babies and pregnancies everybody is different. I would say to go with your gut instinct and make the phone call to your midwife or doctor and see what they say. You could be in very early labour. Nothing to get excited about but nothing to ignore either.

My doctor swears you can tell by the heart rate. Faster is girl, slower is boy. He says in his experience it's about 90% accurate. Since he told me that (with DD7) I have always predicted my friends babies accurately.

OTOH, if you do a search on it, you'll find some computer geeks who decided to graph a bunch of results of heart rate vs gender and the chart clearly shows no association... but then again, that is only one study.

I get the feeling that my dr thinks this one is a girl. I really don't know because the HR is on the slow side of fast (168 last week). He says it's still fast... but everyone else keeps telling me it's a boy. My very Catholic grandmother (on my mom's side) is actually *praying* it's a boy so we can carry on the family name. :confused3 I'm not sure why that matters to her.

As for timing contractions... err... no idea. I had BH contractions pretty long and regular for WEEKS coming up to labor. I quit timing them at some point. Though, I was timing them during a training class for work one week and the instructor kept looking at me like I was going to have the baby on the floor.

In other news, I noticed today that I really am showing. Dang... how did I miss that? At least it explains why I feel so "stuffed"... like the belly is actually in the way.

It said DD was going to be a girl and this next one is going to be a girl. Hmm.....

BTW, I would have bet money DD was a boy. I have no idea about this one!

Thanks everyone! We're definitely not in labor yet - the more intense contractions I've been having today are definitely not intense enough for me to think that I'm actually in labor yet but they did get me thinking about how to actually time them.
We've got our next OB appointment tomorrow morning....here's hoping those "fake" contractions are actually doing something to speed this up!

I do almost anything on wii fit. If I think it is going to bother me, I don't do it or if it hurts I stop. I stick to mostly the yoga poses and the arm stregnth training. My dr. told me to use my common sense so that's what I try to do. I prefer to run outside but if it's raining and I can't get to the gym I have done the Basic Run on wii fit. It's like running in place.
I think as long as you aren't pushing it and you listen to what your body is telling you, you should be fine. Talk to your dr. about it and see what they say.
I don't do Ski Slalom because it bothered my side muscles and I'm entirely too uncoordinated to do any of the step stuff so I don't do that either (I'm afraid I'm going to fall on my butt and that won't be good)

Oh, thank goodness someone else who can't do the step stuff. I just don't get the timing of it, and I love step aerobics. :lmao: Thanks for letting me know what you do, I really appreciate it.

Lindsay - I don't use the Wii Fit for exercise, I just play on it. I have been doing all the balance games for fun and nothing seems to be wrong with them. Obviously if they bother you don't do it but I think those would be fine to do. I also doing the Wii Sports with the bowling and tennis for a little more movement.

I do love playing the tennis...and the boxing on my bad days. LOL Thanks for the suggestions!

It's a ..........................BOY
Chase Michael arrived yesterday at 5:59 pm. He was 8 lbs. 7 oz. and 19 inches long. I haven't gotten to see much of him, because his breathing was too fast for awhile and they were keeping him in the nursery alot. Hoping to cuddle with him alot today. Labor and delivery was not too bad. The pain got bad when I arrived at the hospital and he arrived pretty quickly. I was admitted around 3:00 yesterday and he born in less then 3 hours. Luckily I only had to push for 2 rounds before he was out. Good luck to everyone else.

Congratulations! I hope you get to spend some nice cuddle time with your new little guy soon. :goodvibes

What do you guys think of this nursery? I don't remember if I showed you pictures of my attempt at our nursery but we didn't like it. I think this might be good though ... I won't do the circles on the wall and the tan/light brown stripe on the wall in this picture will be a slightly different color but the general idea would be the same. Our furniture is more of a pecan/maple color though and we have a similar tan/pecan/maple colored carpet for the room. What do you think? I really need to make a decision and get working!!

I really love the combination of light blue and chocolate brown with the lighter tans. Very, very nice. :thumbsup2
